Spoiler they lied during the Q1 call, the cheaper vehicles aren't coming in the first half of the year. In fact they just increased the price on some of their oldest models... the exact opposite of newer and cheaper. But don't worry about the car sales, it's all about that sweet Robotaxi service.

oldtrenzalore 2025-06-25 20:55

With its pay-per-use model, RoboTaxi is the cheapest Tesla of 'em all!! /s

Main-Professor-6574 2025-06-25 20:56

When dealing with Tesla or Elon a good rule of thumb. promise=bullshit "for sure"=bullshit guarantee=bullshit

MeridianNL 2025-06-25 20:57

For Elon, lying is just as easy as breathing.

ForwardBias 2025-06-25 20:58

"Spoiler they lied during the Q1 call" that should be assumed by anyone hearing them (or Musk) speak.

Inside-Welder-3263 2025-06-25 20:58

They keep lowering the prices of all their models to stem the sales decline. So they were sort of not lying. 😆

danrokk 2025-06-25 21:00

Robotaxi is shit, it's all about Optimus V3 now.

GroundbreakingBed450 2025-06-25 21:01

Lie. Kick the can down the road. Distract with robots and robotaxis. Sell people dreams and keep hope alive is the playbook. Someday it will come crashing down but it seems ppl are still idiots

nolongerbanned99 2025-06-25 21:01

Lies, all lies.

Apprehensive-Box-8 2025-06-25 21:02

Nah… they didn’t mean „more affordable“ as in cheaper, they meant „more affordable“ as in „more of those already super affordable ones we already have“ And you know what? They have lots of them standing around, gathering dust…

[deleted] 2025-06-25 21:03

They promised autonomy in 2018 I think. I gave up waiting.

whoknewidlikeit 2025-06-25 21:04

they MADE the promise q1. they'll be delivered someday soon we really mean it and it'll have the newest version of FSD which will actually teleport the user anywhere they want to go * *probably maybe then again or not

[deleted] 2025-06-25 21:04

I knew that was a lie when I first heard it.

[deleted] 2025-06-25 21:05

What’s more reliable a Tesla promise or a Trump 2 weeks?

NoBet8483 2025-06-25 21:07

It’s the taxi! You can go a couple of blocks for $4! Now you can’t get cheaper than that.

luv2block 2025-06-25 21:11

Bernie Madoff was a more honest actor than Elon Musk.

wolf_of_mainst99 2025-06-25 21:16

Lol so become a crash test dummy for musk and pay at the same time, no thanx

Creepy-Team6442 2025-06-25 21:17

Is this a trick question?

Acceptable-Peace-69 2025-06-25 21:20

How many investors remember this prediction? Wall Street has the memory of a fruit fly and the media won’t hold them to it. Just keep pumping the stock and we all win… until we don’t.

mr_greedee 2025-06-25 21:20

Oh [sherwood.news](http://sherwood.news) baby boy are you new to the world?

Comprehensive-Tea121 2025-06-25 21:24

Wake me up when Tesla actually keeps one of their promises! This was expected.

infinit9 2025-06-25 21:30

You are not supposed to remember that.

StellarJayZ 2025-06-25 21:35

Two weeks

Training-Society-757 2025-06-25 21:49

They have been lying for years, not new behavior.

FlexFanatic 2025-06-25 21:50

Come on guys and gals. If you just buy an expensive Tesla with FSD, the amount of money you’ll rake in by enabling the car to be Cyber taxi while you’re sleeping will make it real affordable /s

jason12745 2025-06-25 21:52

Have you seen the zero percent financing? They are right in front of you.

jason12745 2025-06-25 21:53

Frauds aren’t supposed to late this long. He’s in uncharted territory. Cut him some slack.

ShotNixon 2025-06-25 21:57

Remember when “dojo” was going to add $500B to the books?

danrokk 2025-06-25 21:59

I don't even track this, but I do remember something. Was it $500B or $5T?

FrankScaramucci 2025-06-25 22:05

Possibly easier.

pat_the_catdad 2025-06-25 22:06

Used Tesla prices have dropped 30-50% YoY There’s your affordable model 😅

ShotNixon 2025-06-25 22:09

It was one of Adam Jonas’ greatest hits. I just looked it up. Dojo was worth $600B and a major part of the $10T autonomous vehicle market.

crashed_matrix 2025-06-25 22:15

Probably just “two more weeks”

WrldTravelr07 2025-06-25 22:18

They are where all his other promises are. In the shitter.

Tim-in-CA 2025-06-25 22:26

Used prices have tanked ... there you go. Promises made, promises kept!

nonikhannna 2025-06-25 22:32

They still got 5 days. Don't rush

Lawreddits 2025-06-25 22:34

They’re in used car lots everywhere!

danrokk 2025-06-25 22:35

😂😂😂😂

mishap1 2025-06-25 22:38

Was going to say anyone wanting 40% off a Cybertruck can just look online.

meatbag2010 2025-06-25 22:44

It's fine. The way those Cybertrucks are slowly rotting away in parking lots, they will be the affordable models by having to give the bloody things away.

FrogmanKouki 2025-06-25 22:45

And they look like the new ones

Opcn 2025-06-25 22:46

Bernie Madoff started scamming 35 years before he was caught, and only went to a full scam model about halfway through that.

aporzio1 2025-06-25 22:46

Tesla... LIED???? no way

KeyComprehensive4431 2025-06-25 22:56

Gotta keep the stock pumped somehow

OpeningAd447 2025-06-25 23:01

Cybertrucks are getting cheaper

hof_1991 2025-06-25 23:09

They all self-drove themselves to the Mars colony.

Kilgore_Trout_61 2025-06-25 23:13

Musk makes all sorts of promises, it is the fulfilling them part he struggles with.

Few_Might_3853 2025-06-25 23:14

2 weeks.

FrogmanKouki 2025-06-25 23:26

Musk always delivers ^TM

EdOfTheMountain 2025-06-25 23:32

BYD if you’re government allows your country to import them

Complex_Sherbet2 2025-06-25 23:37

"Did I say affordable? Oops, in hindsight I guess I meant flammable."

WhoisthisRDDT 2025-06-25 23:47

fElon has been promising that since before the pandemic. Dude doesn't know what promise means. He was thinking when he makes enough profits then he would do the affordable models. He doesn't think he's made enough money yet. Overpromise but never deliver.

I_want_pickles 2025-06-26 00:06

Have you seen the price of used Teslas? Elon delivered.

wewillroq 2025-06-26 00:08

More affordable used now if that's what they meant

[deleted] 2025-06-26 00:08

Well they’ve been promising Full Self-Driving since 2016 and it’s still not here….

pacific_beach 2025-06-26 00:34

I still don't understand how they weren't sued into oblivion after the robotaxi NPV presentation in April of 2019. Tesla would have declared bankruptcy in 2Q 2019 if they weren't able to raise $2B after that complete and total fraudulent presentation. You can just do whatever the fuck you want now in this post-factual world.

ircsmith 2025-06-26 00:34

Just for grins can anyone think of one promise he has made that was kept? I am stunned the stock went up after he introduced a product that others did a decade ago.

badDNA 2025-06-26 01:00

Still waiting on that supplier to other manufacturers pretend business to ramp up

Mugwump6506 2025-06-26 01:01

China. The Chinese have them. All of them, but you can't buy them.

ProfessionalTwo5476 2025-06-26 01:29

Same same...

misterten2 2025-06-26 02:04

wait 8 yrs....like their robotaxi

Puzzleheaded-Sea8340 2025-06-26 02:32

Lmaoooooo hot take Elmo is a lying sack. It was never about an affordable car

Puzzleheaded-Sea8340 2025-06-26 02:34

$4 a ride baby Tesla stock up 10% on this news

[deleted] 2025-06-26 02:36

All 10 of them …

Ok-ChildHooOd 2025-06-26 03:18

Musk was never really supportive of an affordable model. Tesla is a brand for him, not the poors.

Large-Ad-9156 2025-06-26 04:24

Critics are pedos obv.

blargh9001 2025-06-26 04:43

Relatively speaking, from the board member’s perspective, after pumping (and dumping) the stock, all of the cars are more affordable.

ttkk1248 2025-06-26 04:58

Is it a way to keep new competitors compete on price?

WingedGundark 2025-06-26 05:30

And Musk’s ”next year” means that something won’t definitely happen. It is like a seal of bullshit, but apparently too many people still haven’t realized that yet.

ObservationalHumor 2025-06-26 06:00

Pretty much. This is going to be one of those things we read about in two years. Every sensible business specialist in the company is probably screaming for Musk to stop tweeting, update existing vehicles and put out lower cost ones to maintain market share. Meanwhile Musk is probably saying they're all stupid and don't get it, robotaxi is all that matters. They've probably been sitting on plans for a lower cost vehicle for a while and Musk either won't sign off because they've had to cut back on the autonomous hardware or simply because all he cares about is getting the Robotaxi into production, similar to how he killed the Model 2 a while ago. If we're being honest too the lower cost models aren't going to be super compelling. They're going to be lower cost and low quality trims of the existing models for the most part. Of course last year the stanbase was all hyped about these lower cost models actually being some new 'Model Q' that was going to sell like hotcakes in China and Europe despite Tesla telegraphing that the low cost models would be built on the 3 and Y lines with minor changes to increase affordability by maybe a few grand. Given what we've seen with margins shrinking already on their auto production these new models would likely be palliative at best too, serving largely just to keep the factories in production and the cash conversion cycle churning in order to limit negative cash flows out of the company's actual manufacturing business.

Withnail2019 2025-06-26 06:39

They can't manufacture such vehicles profitably. They don't even really make any money on the ones they currently produce without the subsidies.

[deleted] 2025-06-26 06:41

When Optimus V3 turns out shit it’ll be all about the drones. Morgan Stanley js already laying the groundwork with ridiculous articles about how Tesla could make drones if they wanted to and if they did want to the company would be worth an extra trillion - which is handy as that should plus the gap between its real value and its current market cap.

pawpawpersimony 2025-06-26 06:44

Because they lie, every time. It is a scam company with a giant conman running the show.

Underradar0069 2025-06-26 07:29

Usually next yr means 10 yrs

gwenver 2025-06-26 09:08

Opens mouth=bullshit

gwenver 2025-06-26 09:09

Imagine if every time you lied you got a billion dollars richer...

Desperate-Hearing-55 2025-06-26 09:26

Promises? Musk: 2019 “By the middle of next year, we’ll have over a million Tesla cars on the road with full self-driving hardware, feature complete, at a reliability level that we would consider that no one needs to pay attention,” October 21, 2019 "Next year for sure, we will have over a million robotaxis on the road," "The fleet wakes up with an over-the-air update. That's all it takes." 2020 "All Tesla cars right now have everything necessary for self-driving available today. All you need to do is improve the software."

NotFromMilkyWay 2025-06-26 12:31

The company that promised an autonomous drive from New York to San Francisco in 2017 and struggles to find the correct lane in Austin in 2025 may have lied?

phate_exe 2025-06-26 12:48

Depreciation is one way to make cars more affordable.

poissonous 2025-06-26 13:42

Juniper? 0% interest since may certainly made it affordable to Norwegians.

EnvironmentalCoat222 2025-06-26 14:11

"Should ah, be ready in November, or maybe December"

Operation-FuturePuss 2025-06-26 14:22

He didn’t lie. He cut the price of used Teslas more than in half over the last year.

[deleted] 2025-06-26 14:23

I promised myself this was the year I'm getting six pack abs and a 6' tall Norwegian model for a wife. That's more likely than an affordable new Tesla. The used ones are very affordable because they are garbage.

UndertakerFred 2025-06-26 15:40

“Works on contingency? No, money down!”

plumpedupawesome 2025-06-26 16:00

They could reduce the price to zero, offer to pay people to drive their shitboxes, and people STILL wont want any of teslas garbage.

followtharulez 2025-06-26 19:51

Where are they... In our dreams!

mt8675309 2025-06-27 02:16

Boycott Tesla

Icy-person666 2025-06-27 06:47

"Lowe trim models" their current high end products have poor trim if it even stays on the vehicle. Perhaps they should swap over to electric scooters and work their way up from there.

Icy-person666 2025-06-27 06:49

I like when he stutters when he is about to lie as he is desperate to say something that will impress the fan boys.

MoveOverBieber 2025-06-27 15:47

In two weeks! Oops, wrong guy, "next year".

human_trainingwheels 2025-06-27 15:54

Tesla promises a lot of things.

No_Vanilla_5754 2025-06-27 20:50

Too late. @europe we dont want Tesla anymore. Pls sell this cars in the US .

OK-Greg-7 2025-06-28 14:31

Elon's been too busy stealing data from the USA and sucking off Trump to do anything else.

Excellent_Rule_2778 2025-06-28 20:49

They were promising an affordable model when I was looking for a new car in 2014. Good thing I didn’t wait.

[deleted] 2025-06-29 13:12

What kind of person would dive one of these now? Its nothing more than a symbol of hate, I can think of several flags that would be cheaper and communicate the same message.

neonmantis 2025-06-30 02:30

You joke but that is what a company who was genuinely interested in moving the world to electric vehicles. Scooters are used all over the developing world, its a big market, and they are affordable, that should be prime territory, not oversized trucks that are ill designed for battery tech anyway. Look at the mass of different electric vehicles BYD makes.

wongl888 2025-06-30 03:19

FSD drones? Wait, I forgot to add “(supervised)”.

Icy-person666 2025-06-30 04:35

BYD is genuinely moving people to electric vehicles Tesla is just separating fools from their money.

[deleted] 2025-06-30 15:53

Fire Elon Kill the CT program Just embrace the fact that the X is a minivan and sell more budget friendly versions. The Y and 3 can both be the “more affordable” models. Do a pickup variant of the Y, like the Maverick is to the Escape. Your welcome, just turned the company around

Crumbbsss 2025-07-01 23:26
