I love FSD, hard to imagine going back to a car without it.

It’s pretty magical. Yesterday, I got into my car, set a destination, and pressed the “Start FSD” button on the screen.
It drove to a the grocery store parking lot, and parked itself. When I was done with my purchases, I used summon to bring the car to me. Got in.
I wanted to go drop off an Amazon return, so I set another destination. Again, pressed the “start FSD” button. Same thing, the car took me to the whole foods parking lot and found a parking spot.
I didn’t use summon at Whole Foods, because the parking lot was pretty busy. After walking to the car, set the destination for home, and pressed the button.
The entire time, the only time I touched the steering wheel, was when the car approached my driveway. I took over, because FSD doesn’t know how to back into a driveway yet.
The three legged trip was essentially flawless. Phantom braking isn’t really a thing yet, but I did notice something similar…. When the car sees a pedestrian standing right at the road curb, and facing traffic, the car isn’t certain what the pedestrian will do. So there’s this micro brake check, while the car takes a second to considering the pedestrian’s movement.
I used previous versions of FSD a lot. But man, there’s something really special, about getting in and never touching the steering wheel.

This is interesting because it's one of my main gripes with HW3. In my city, pedestrians actually step out onto the road and get close with no intention to cross, so that they can run across after you pass. It's enough to startle the car into braking. Is it any better in HW4? I've got a couple years left before I upgrade cars but I hope I can look forward to a fix to this.

Some of us have been here for a very long time. What version did you start using FSD? It’s ok to joke about it not being perfect yet.

My experiences with FSD have been mostly flawless. I took it on a long five hour one way road trip and it handled really well. The issues I have (still on 13.2.9) is that it can't negotiate the speed. If the village drops down to 30 it takes longer then I hope it would to decelerate to what I usually set which is a 5-6 PSL threshold. However, if you mess with the threshold in the settings it usually is too fast, or too slow. I'm hoping v14 fixes that.
It's been impressive for me overall, aside from that. I really wish I could specify routes that I take daily via the Tesla navigation to say, avoid this part of the road, or take this left versus going straight. If I could do that, and save it, it'd be lit.
I find the existing version like not stop fast enough too. Almost sometimes feels like it slams on the regen braking later than I would if I drove.

V14 fixes it with Sloth mode, which always sticks to the limit. The only downside is when FSD doesn’t know the correct speed limit.

Brand new delivery MY picked up yesterday. Still on 13.2.9.
When's the general rollout?

There was one where he had to intervene with a motorcycle oncoming. It's not quite fully reliable yet imo.

I'm glad Chuck played it safe and intervened rather than testing to see how FSD(s) would handle it. I agree with you - reliable? Perhaps in *most* cases. Fully reliable? Not quite.

Everyone talks about unprotected lefts, but my issues come from unprotected rights.
If you're trying to make a right turn somewhere, there's a couple lanes, high speed traffic, and the visibility is terrible. This is the one situation that I consistently get version 13 in trouble. Does anyone else have this?

He decided to, not he had to. May be wise decision, but we don't know if it would be a bad move. Ofc fsd is supervised and the driver must decide, not the car ( or the side seat passenger :-) )

You know, it’s not irritating like when older versions would phantom brake. Back then, I would wonder, wtf was that about?
But now, this micro brake check, I get it. I can point to exactly why the car was being cautious. So in a way, it’s understandable.

How does V14 handle stop signs? Does it still require a FULL STOP? I've been honked at here in CA.

I hope summon gets some tweaks to be a little better. I don’t think they touched it yet but with what he said on the call about banish being more or less targeted by the end of the year in 14.2 or 14.3 I’m excited about that.
To be fair though whenever I think about summon it’s never seemed really a big thing for me. I can see it for disability being great. Or injury recovery. But besides the odd keep something out of the rain I can never think of a reason to do it.

I don’t understand, mine on normal and hurry is so terrible. It can’t make decisions, it’ll do this speed and break rapidly thing before making a decision. When it moves, it’s too rough as well.
