Protesting is now “wanting to be oppressed”?

throwawayrefiguy 2025-10-17 21:32

Womp womp.

NerdyGuy117 2025-10-17 21:36

I love the truck :).

Yes, especially when those protesting don't know what it means to be oppressed.

As a Model 3 owner I get it

disergi0 2025-10-17 21:47

drove it for a couple of days. it does not seem to be finished truck. feels like prototype. and no spare tire.

NerdyGuy117 2025-10-17 21:47

I got it because it is fun to drive. I love the vehicle.

18randomcharacters 2025-10-17 21:48

Because I own a Tesla. It doesn’t mean I have to like the politics of the company or founder, or fawn over every asinine product they release.

NerdyGuy117 2025-10-17 21:49

> What a maroon. Interesting color choice

newtman 2025-10-17 22:41

It performs horribly as an offroad vehicle, the bed is all but useless for hauling stuff, visibility sucks, and it doesn’t even get good range. The quality is so poor we routinely see reports of body panels falling off and axles breaking. I don’t understand why anyone would like it other than because it’s controversial and they want the attention.

18randomcharacters 2025-10-17 22:41

Y, actually ;)

DammatBeevis666 2025-10-17 22:47

Everything’s computer

SE_MI_CT 2025-10-17 23:12

> It performs horribly as an offroad vehicle, False unless you want to be more specific. People have taken their Cybertruck on some crazy offroad adventures and through difficult rock climbs. >the bed is all but useless for hauling stuff It's 4x6, same as a normal F150. What are you trying to haul that it cannot haul? >visibility sucks, The A-Pillar is a bit big, but otherwise it has cameras all around it. I don't have any problems. > and it doesn’t even get good range. If you are talking about towing range, maybe. Efficiency is pretty good, especially compared to other EV trucks (who make up for poor efficiency with huge batteries), but a normal 300+ mile range isn't bad. >The quality is so poor we routinely see reports of body panels falling off and axles breaking. Some problems with early build cantrail (only some vehicles and recall has been sent out). I haven't heard anything about axles breaking. Two YouTubers who set out to destroy the rear casting were successful in destroying the rear casting, but that's not really indicative of anything in real life. >I don’t understand why anyone would like it other than because it’s controversial and they want the attention. Steer by wire combined with rear steer make it incredibly maneuverable and easy to drive. The vault security is great. Air suspension makes for a great ride. And of course FSD. Growing up in Detroit and working in the auto industry, I'm used to going to the North American International Auto Show every year. After seeing so many prototypes that end up neutered when brought to market, I knew I wanted the absolutely wild looking Cybertruck as soon as I saw it. It wasn't "controversial," why would it be controversial? Other than people saying they think it's ugly, which who cares? I think the Kia Soul and Honda Element are ugly, but I don't piss and moan online about it: I just don't buy one.

Drove one for a bit over a week, it was basically brand new. Generally speaking its fine. The stainless steel body really doesn't work for me. First off it feels like you are going to cut yourself on the edges but they are just thick enough not to. It is just a finger print and water stain magnet. You won't notice if far away but the closer you get the more obvious it becomes, this vehicle has to be wrapped else plan on wiping it down all the time. Don't get me started on cleaning the inside of that windshield. Driving, in comfort mode it was surprisingly smooth. engine whine is noticeable but I suspect they did that on purpose. not having a rear view mirror makes it actually feel smaller as you are not looking in the mirror and seeing the rear seats and bed. The all wheel steering really helps with low speeds but can also be frustrating trying to back up without being straight. Beast mode is just stupid fast and I used it three times. As for reception, except one jerk on the interstate who would not let me change lanes - easily dealt with but likely it wasn't because I was in the CT but that they were just jerks. At Publix I actually spent time to let the baggers look it over and more; our store hires those with learning disabilities and such - they are all cool but tend to be ignored too much. Ended up with the sheriffs asking about it as well. Neighbor had to see it up close, having never been in a Tesla before, so took him and his kids for a ride with FSD as well. Overall its fine but I think Telsa had the same issue with the CT as the X, they did stuff just because they could but never thought if they should. I think they would be best off never revisiting stainless steel again. It obviously inflated the cost especially being bullet resistant and that front windshield obviously didn't help costs.

SE_MI_CT 2025-10-18 00:37

Is it common for vehicles to have failures and break on the Rubicon Trail? If the Cybertruck had some issues on the most rugged offroad trail test, in which it's common for any vehicle to have difficulty and breakages, this isn't really much of a retort? When a Jeep breaks a tie rod or needs to get winched off a rock, is it a normal conclusion to point and say Jeeps are horrible off-road? Just wondering what our standards are.

ffiarpg 2025-10-18 02:58

Avoiding paint prep, paint, drying, etc saves a lot of money. Hard to say if the stainless was a net cost over a typical body. I think Elon wanted higher volume on this stainless alloy for economy of scale to reduce the cost of starships and this vehicle is the end result.

StrykerNinja 2025-10-18 03:24

whoa sir, please keep your logical, straightforward answers off the internet, we don't do that here... /s

Moderately_Opposed 2025-10-18 03:55

I think it's really fucking cool. Manufacturing-wise, spec-wise, technology-wise. I drive a tesla that costs half what an entry-level CT does. If I could afford it I'd get it. I just assume that if people are mean to you because of it you can just wipe your tears with a wad of cash.

HellsNels 2025-10-18 05:16

I mean its just kinda weird. CT owners + other Tesla owners are in more of the same clique than everything else like internal combustion engined cars or people that shit on all EVs. I really hate how Elon has fractured everything and made owning one model of car some sort of litmus or Rorschach test.

They’re protesting because they would rather not be forced to find out.

LeapYearBoy 2025-10-18 10:59

Getting paid to protest a king that doesn't exist just because you want a reason to be the victim isn't? Interesting...

Litmus test for what?

disergi0 2025-10-18 20:09

I got the same impression after using it.

Xaxxon 2025-10-18 23:05

For that price it better be -- and it has a lot of competition of other cars that are fun to drive.

LeapYearBoy 2025-10-19 00:25

Just because manchurian candidate kamala didnt win doesnt mean I dont have a life. If anything your life with tds seems miserable

SR-Rage 2025-10-19 04:22

So, for you getting attention and getting spit on/sworn at are the same thing? lol

shellacr 2025-10-19 06:08

Got it because I love Tesla’s tech and don’t want to die in an accident with an F250. If trucks weren’t prevalent I’d be content with a 3.

summitcreature 2025-10-20 20:10

The lack of structural integration of the tow hitch is mind-blowing

bittabet 2025-10-21 03:04

Honestly I think in the southeast you’re not getting the same level of hate that people in for example the Pacific Northwest will get. Where I live there are just so many Teslas and even Cybertrucks that if you dislike them you’d just run out of energy really fast but I went to the northeast for a week and saw like one Cybertruck my entire trip.

bittabet 2025-10-21 03:13

Honestly I think most of the off road issues are simply that it’s a truck with a long wheelbase, but Tesla didn’t really help the off road abilities by putting fancy features like rear wheel steering instead of just beefing up the suspension components. But it’s not really an off road specific truck and it does drive much more car-like. But I think many truck buyers don’t actually like that it’s so carlike in handling since they’re expecting that truck type of ride. For an off-roading EV you’d honestly be better off in an R1S or the Hummer SUV if the trail can handle the weight. There’s also random little things like how the R1S can just drive through water without needing to first compress air into the battery. The cybertruck is better if you care about FSD or want a car-like ride.

CarlCarl3 2025-10-24 15:35

Disagree on the steering - going back to normal steering wheels, including in other Teslas, feels pretty archaic. I think the combo of steer-by-wire, 4-wheel-steering, and air suspension makes for a great ride. Surprisingly quiet on the highway too.

splashbruh37 2025-11-14 04:09

I suspect they won’t do this again or they’ll discontinue over time bc the sheer appearance is not going to make it a buy, and Elon wants his pay package which means they’ll need to sell a lot of cars
