Something something cries in HW3 something something.

Rollertoaster7 2025-10-07 21:18

Yeah I think hw3 is cooked

Fishbulb2000 2025-10-07 21:21

So the rumor yesterday that summon was coming for Cybertruck was bogus?

Funkytadualexhaust 2025-10-07 21:24

No way to control when it gets the speed limit wrong other than disengaging blows

cwhiterun 2025-10-07 21:25

They better have figured out how to read speed limit signs then if they're gonna delete max speed. I have to use it every day because there's a 50mph road on my commute that FSD thinks is 75mph.

eineins 2025-10-07 21:28

This drives me nuts. It used to read speed limit signs doesn't seem to any more. So many former construction zones under speed limit in their database.

[deleted] 2025-10-07 21:28

"Max speed is irrelevant " say that to my local pd

bigpoppa611 2025-10-07 21:30

This is all so much fun! It’s like the night before Christmas watching the Santa tracker waiting for him to deliver to my home.

Rollertoaster7 2025-10-07 21:35

This release notes were fake yeah, sounds like summon will be coming in a point update soon though

VeryRealHuman23 2025-10-07 21:37

My intel hw3 is miserable lmao

swotai 2025-10-07 21:37

Many of these improvements will never touch a hw3 car. I guess.

swotai 2025-10-07 21:38

Where’s the class action for hw3 folks who paid? I know I am a sucker but still…

stevieoats 2025-10-07 21:46

All user inputs are wrong, huh? Yeah ok. Looks like I’ll still be switching to basic autopilot for highway driving. FSD can’t figure out highway speed at all. First it’s going 63, then 72, then 78, then 63, but I’m the one who’s wrong. Great job, fellas.

theycallmebekky 2025-10-07 21:48

lol so they’re like “yeah it’s okay that you’re going 38 in a 25” cool sounds good.

ajn63 2025-10-07 21:48

“In the world of FSD, almost all user input is considered error” is the most idiotic statement. The only way they should even consider saying something like this is if this iteration is absolutely flawless and obeys all traffic laws and deviations. They need to back this up with guarantees they’ll pay all traffic violations.

Muhahahahaz 2025-10-07 21:49

Considering it’s still “Supervised” there’s literally nothing for them to do yet Give it a few months… Once Supervised comes out, they’ll start looking for ways to retrofit HW3. (Either by finding a way to make the software work on HW3, or literally giving us HW4) I already got a free FSD hardware upgrade on my previous vehicle, so I have no reason to believe this won’t be the same thing. Only difference this time is, they literally have no reasonable way to know what the correct solution is yet

pluggedinn 2025-10-07 21:53

That’s exactly the opposite. If a user takes control and makes a change that is considered an error on the model side. That gets recorded and used on the next training iteration.

HeronOrganic3727 2025-10-07 21:54

Mine works pretty well, just sucks knowing it won’t get better

GokuMK 2025-10-07 22:06

> I have to use it every day because there's a 50mph road on my commute that FSD thinks is 75mph. Check OSM map data and fix it.

JasonQG 2025-10-07 22:06

Since the goal is to get rid of the human driver, how is that an idiotic statement?

WrongdoerIll5187 2025-10-07 22:06

I’m not sure that’s true. It could possibly get picked up is probably a better way to think about it.

Balgard 2025-10-07 22:08

Same here. My car is always way under the speed limit. Service center had my car for a week and there's no hardware issue. I'm to wait for a firmware update. I dont care to have fsd 14 but id love the fsd experience I had before 12.6.4. Being told to wait for an update that may never come is garbage

Blazah 2025-10-07 22:09

how? I need it to slow to 15 twice on my commute

Tesla0ptimus 2025-10-07 22:11

The new “sloth mode” is supposed to go at/ below the speed limit, but I agree, it shouldn’t be that hard to avoid excessive speeding in normal driving conditions

Aggravating-Gift-740 2025-10-07 22:14

I keep hearing rumors of something beyond v12 but I’ll believe it when i see it. It’s definitely made me lose interest in watching breathless videos when new releases come out.

ajn63 2025-10-07 22:16

I really hope your interpretation is correct and I misunderstood the comment. It would make much more sense. But seeing as how Elon insisted on eliminating lidar or sonic sensors and relying exclusively on camera vision even against his own engineers suggestions, I wouldn’t put it past them.

Decent-Gas-7042 2025-10-07 22:17

Mine used to be great at it and then a few updates back it forgot

spacebarstool 2025-10-07 22:18

The "below" is the problem. I want the car to drive the speed limit and not pass and just stay in the right lane. Keeping up with traffic at a safe distance in the right lane without passing would even be better.

spacebarstool 2025-10-07 22:20

I'm looking forward to trying out sloth mode. I want the car to drive the speed limit, not pass, and just stay in the right lane. Keeping up with traffic at a safe distance in the right lane without passing and without going over 10 miles above the speed limit would even be better. Just like my car used to do once upon a time.

Aggravating-Gift-740 2025-10-07 22:20

HW3 v12. I used FSD for about 50 miles today and the speed limit was wrong for nearly half of it. Sometimes if I disengaged and re-engaged it would switch to the correct speed limit but it would invariably be wrong again a few miles later.

HeronOrganic3727 2025-10-07 22:21

Mine has never once followed that instruction and I pass the same light with no turn allowed every drive

RANGER592 2025-10-07 22:25

This is stupid. I dont want to drive slow. I want to drive 5 over so that im quicker than traffic and not getting pulled over. How ridiculous

Aggravating-Gift-740 2025-10-07 22:26

There is a spot near me where i drive often. The speed limit drops from 45 to 30 and goes through a heavily pedestrian tourist area. If I don’t disengage the car will blast through thare at around 50mph. I’ve never dared to see how long it will actually take to slow down to a reasonable speed.

lamgineer 2025-10-07 22:31

End-to-end Neural network training on human video driving data precludes using non-vision sensors. Humans do not use LiDAR or ultrasound when making driving decisions. Therefore, Human driving video data cannot train self-driving model with LiDAR input. Tesla is E2E and cannot incorporate LiDAR or other non-vision inputs unless they change their training models. Waymo is actively researching E2E. If they switch to E2E like Tesla, then Waymo will remove LiDAR/Radar. We will see what happens in the next 2 years to know which is the correct path to universal Robotaxi.

ChymChymX 2025-10-07 22:33

It ignores it, like most humans.

ZeroWashu 2025-10-07 22:34

That is okay, on i75 I run into the issue where it uses the minimum speed sign of 40 mph as the speed limit - fortunately it has never tried to slow to that speed but I am not assured when that is the limit it shows. I am more concerned it still ignores flashing school signs.

ZeroWashu 2025-10-07 22:35

Max over would be sufficient for me, like you shall never go more than five over. However if it is as it sounds I am going to be giving them an earful when it prompts me for why I cancelled it during the drive

FSUxNOLES101 2025-10-07 22:39

Wish i could participate. Paid for FSD on a 2020 model 3

kirksan 2025-10-07 22:40

I drive a stretch of road that has a several mile HOV lane the car refuses to notice, everytime autopilot will try to change into that lane. Do you think Elon will pay the $490 fine?

majesticjg 2025-10-07 22:46

Hey, I know! Instead of commenting about this release, let's dredge up every complaint we've ever had about the prior releases instead!

DeliciousBother5 2025-10-07 22:47

How did u get the free upgrade?

NikolaWasRight13 2025-10-07 22:49

How about I want my car to keep a speed because the speed limit isnt dynamic. Theres a reason for legacy things becoming legacy, because they work as intended. The annoying habit of having to accelerate to a specified speed because FSD thinks it's too fast based on nothing, is the reason I refuse to buy it outright.

jaywoof94 2025-10-07 22:49

Max speed irrelevant? Bffr lmfao! We’re all about to get tickets for going 80 in a 60

HeronOrganic3727 2025-10-07 22:50

Yep. The exact behavior we’re all hoping FSD fixes, not mimics lol

Veb4713 2025-10-07 22:51

Mine drives past a truck weigh station, and slows down to 10mph on the 80mph freeway lol.

RSn0tch 2025-10-07 22:58

Usually when I fiddle with max speed it’s because I want to go faster, not slower. Very unfortunate.

eser5 2025-10-07 23:03

The freeway exit on the way home for me is a “do not turn on red” and mine stops without issue. I often get honked at by the person behind me. There’s no winning lol

eser5 2025-10-07 23:05

I got so excited when I saw the fake. They’ve been saying “soon” for a while though so I’m not holding my breath. My CT gets everything like a month after everyone except for 13.2.9

Rollertoaster7 2025-10-07 23:09

Ashok confirmed full parity is coming for cybertruck in a future 14 release, so should be by the end of the year according to this tweet

BisonMysterious8902 2025-10-07 23:10

It used to do exactly that. For several months last year, it'd slam on the brakes if you were on the interstate, going 75mph, and then a 40mph minimum speed showed up. It appears they finally fixed that, since the 40mph does still show for me, but it has a blue outline.

m0viestar 2025-10-07 23:11

Edge case. /s

BisonMysterious8902 2025-10-07 23:14

I'm really happy to see the speed thing being addressed. I've had FSD for years, but have been using the "auto pilot" or whatever is a step down on the interstate because most of the time, I want very advanced cruise control. If the flow of traffic is 80mph outside of cities, then please let me set that and abide by it. Or... make it so the "auto pilot" mode can work without wiggling the wheel. Please. Pretty please...

[deleted] 2025-10-07 23:52

It can’t read “cross traffic does not stop” at stop signs either. Almost found that out the hard way on a recent free trial. It’s been a decade of these arrogant pricks talking smart during releases and under delivering. Enough of the techno babble jargon like “long tail edge case situations.” My auto wipers still don’t work well most of the time, ffs.

Thomb 2025-10-08 00:05

My guess: 2.5 —->3

Thomb 2025-10-08 00:06

Supervised has been out since the beginning

brainmydamage 2025-10-08 00:12

"Almost all user inputs are considered errors" Are stopped emergency vehicles with lights flashing also considered an error?

brainmydamage 2025-10-08 00:14

Or when it thinks the route sign is the speed limit 🙄

cinnamon_owl 2025-10-08 00:17

Or, you know, active school zones that are 20mph.

SpellingJenius 2025-10-08 00:22

Not so much if you have HW3

Quartinus 2025-10-08 00:50

Because it’s the goal, not the reality right now.  They are currently laying the legal and moral implications of the actions of their software at the feet of their users, then systematically reducing the users choice to the simple binary decision of on or off.  The only logical conclusion is that you shouldn’t use software you can’t control, or they should be taking on all the liability while FSD is engaged.

PremiumUsername69420 2025-10-08 00:50

I’m still gonna give multiple daily disengagements and complain about the vehicle not going the set speed. Get outta here with that speed profile nonsense. This is a driver’s aide that we’re still responsible for, so it should recognize inputs and do what it’s instructed to do.

PremiumUsername69420 2025-10-08 00:53

It’s so frustrating when it speeds up to pass a vehicle then slows back down and I get passed again. Go a set speed and slow down when it *needs* to, like it used to.

yniloc 2025-10-08 01:14

I stopped using FSD because of the stupid excessive lane changes and even changing lanes when I cancel. Sometimes within a quarter mile it tries to change lanes 3-4 times. I hope this gets fixed.

JasonQG 2025-10-08 01:15

Yes, but they’re never going to reach that goal if they don’t aim for it. I don’t think FSD Supervised is for everyone, and that’s ok That said, you get 4 choices, not 2 (5 if you count off), and it sounds like “sloth” mode strictly sticks to the speed limit. Use that if you’re worried about speeding. They’re still trying to give you viable options while aiming for the goal. You can’t please everyone, especially Redditors, but these seem like reasonable compromises to me (though maybe I don’t fit in on Reddit)

chris_hinshaw 2025-10-08 01:23

It's bullshit. When I bought mine it said that it had all the required hardware for fully autonomous driving. There was a blurb on the website, I got a screen grab somewhere that if hardware upgrades were required it would be provided free of cost (paraphrasing). Of course that has since been removed. I believed Elon's bullshit and have a 2017 Model S that I am thorough convinced will never be fully autonomous.

say592 2025-10-08 02:04

I have two instances where I really need the ability to adjust the max, and one is a school zone! The other is the opposite direction, where a road turns into a limited access freeway but the first 65mph speed limit sign isn't for about 1.5 miles. FSD recognizes that it is a go fast road and will readily accelerate to ~55, but for the next 60 or so seconds it's going 55mph and everyone else is going 75mph. I have to override it every single day.

FastLaneJB 2025-10-08 02:05

Seen in Chuck's video it slowed properly for a flashing school sign so that seemed very good.

Angry_Robot 2025-10-08 02:20

That’s like being a poor kid watching the Santa tracker.

shumpitostick 2025-10-08 02:21

You mean unsupervised? That shit ain't coming soon at all.

iwilltalkaboutguns 2025-10-08 02:41

Oh it won't be... But he is counting on you (and everyone else in your shoes) getting rid of the old cars before doing the retrofits or exchanges when there won't be a retrofit. I have a 22 X plaid and I'm on the same boat with hw3. Not that it matters to me, as I wouldn't trust it anyway.

separatelyrepeatedly 2025-10-08 02:55

Such a scam that Tesla wants people to keep buying new cars to get latest FSD.

Ok_Cake1283 2025-10-08 04:32

Yeah the police seems to disagree speed cap is too complicated and the best part is no part when FSD is going 55 in a 35 mph zone.

tanbyte 2025-10-08 04:39

Does it fix auto wipers?

Emotional-Object489 2025-10-08 04:40

I just want a speed profile that will go like ~5 miles an hour max over the speed limit. Feel like chill should do this but it sometimes goes like 10+ over the speed limit and that’s not very chill

Emotional-Object489 2025-10-08 04:42

Sloth should = the exact speed limit or less Chill should = speed limit to 5 miles an hour over. Standard should be 5-10 over and hurry should be 10+ over

RobotTinkerbellCake 2025-10-08 05:03

Much needed - tired of dialing down the speed in school zones

OkProfessional381 2025-10-08 05:09

Wen roadster?$

BigClockWithoutTheL 2025-10-08 05:09

please fix the bug at stop signs… its so annoying, it sometimes doesnt stop all the way down to 0 and starts speeding up and FSD had to brake all the way down to 0 again, this happens in hurry mode

Apophis22 2025-10-08 05:34

Speed limits were too complicated? What about wind shield wipers?  They seem pretty complicated to get to work too. At least for some car makers. ‚The best part is no part‘.

Quin1617 2025-10-08 05:37

That statement was made a year ago…

Boxer_the_horse 2025-10-08 08:46

I want my $12k back if they can’t upgrade my computer. Fuckers!

Virtamancer 2025-10-08 10:25

For me it constantly gets the speed limit wrong. Additionally, they’re just wrong and being anti-user, and I hope they walk it back. I want to set a lower AND upper speed boundary. More important to me is that it drives proactively to not need to slow down. For this reason I don’t use FSD even though its other capabilities are nice. And I’m not the only one. The wife on the Out of Spec YouTube channel said she also prefers autopilot over FSD. For this reason I won’t be updating the software until they get their act together.

Virtamancer 2025-10-08 10:31

+1 This has forced me to use autopilot even though I prefer a lot about FSD. It also means I can’t update the car. I’m fine staying on this software version forever (that’s how it always was on ICE cars so I’m used to it) but I’d much rather they get their shit together and stop being anti-customer. Supposedly they listen to feedback.

Efficient-Algae7943 2025-10-08 11:00

i work on cyber trucks and i can confirm

B1Turb0 2025-10-08 11:38

But will I still drive on the inner yellow line in my cybertruck bc it’s fucking dangerous and annoying

Tiaan-K 2025-10-08 11:48

+1, v12 was usable, v13 ruined v3 (the moment they started back porting the HW optimized models). I wish they would downgrade HW3 back the the final model before that until we can upgrade to newer hardware, 5?

Tiaan-K 2025-10-08 11:51

Years ago, yes 2.5 -> 3, they won’t let us upgrade to 4, computer is too big, uses different plugs and most importantly pulls too much power. My guess is HW5 *might* be able to be developed with those retro specs in mind to fit into both.

sccooper 2025-10-08 13:16

It already struggles with school zone temporary speeds. This sounds worse.

elchurnerista 2025-10-08 13:24

All i want is no phantom breaking and further out breaking at lower deceleration / breaking intensity

ipher 2025-10-08 13:38

"No more max speed, it's fine" (proceeds to blow through a 25mph speed trap going 45)

byebyelassy 2025-10-08 15:11

Okay but I want to go the speed limit always, not drive under the limit going slow cuz it’s “chill”, it’s impeding traffic and it’s unexpected

Orbidorpdorp 2025-10-08 15:22

Somehow this data made its way into google maps. There's a small state "highway" (rt 70) that runs through town, 30-40mph limits depending on the section and Google has it as 70mph.

MokikiCC 2025-10-08 15:23

Anyone has the same issue when turning on FSD on the highway? The truck hits the brakes really hard the moment FSD activates, dropping speed from around 65 to 55 mph, or even lower. It happens quite frequently on my truck, and the technicians said they can’t find anything wrong on their end. 🫤

frigoffbearb 2025-10-08 15:24

This. California’s HOV program for EVs just ended and I can’t use the lane anymore during rush hours. Unfortunately I can’t use FSD anymore either because all it wants to do is break into that lane. Does not matter how many times I toggle no hov lanes off

MogKupo 2025-10-08 17:05

The inability to maintain a set speed is why I've reverted to Enhanced Autopilot on my 2018 Model 3. It's absolutely maddening. That design decision has made FSD worthless to me.

NikolaWasRight13 2025-10-08 17:17

Things like this make me miss my AP1 2015 P90. That AP was the best feature mix for highway cruising.

JebKermin 2025-10-08 17:22

Unsupervised in a few months? lol

Carnasis 2025-10-08 17:44

\*insert MKBHD joke here\*

Carnasis 2025-10-08 17:46

Yep. Both my Cybertruck and my parents Model Y Juniper have had issues with minimum speed 40 mph signs on I-75 and then it hard brakes. Cybertruck didn't originally do it, then started doing it on one of the updates, then it stopped again ever since with another update. My wifes Model Y Juniper, my Father in laws Model Y juniper, and our loaner old Model Y do NOT have this issue but my parents Model Y Juniper still does.

DNBlighton 2025-10-08 19:37

Exact reason why I canceled. It slowing down and speeding up constantly was driving me insane.

my_password_is_water 2025-10-08 20:13

yeah my car is ALWAYS the slowest on the road, im constantly tapping the accelerator. Incredibly frustrating that my two options are standard/chill (drive 5 below the limit) or hurry (drive the set speed but be 5 lanes over in traffic when the route calls for getting off the freeway in a quarter mile)

kalfin2000 2025-10-08 21:17

If you want to go faster just hit the gas pedal. FSD recognizes that as go faster.

floridianfisher 2025-10-08 23:24

40% speed offset if fin wild

windydrew 2025-10-09 02:03

We have full lane width shoulders on a few roads here that the Tesla doesn't see speed limit signs at all. In that case, it'll stay at the last speed limit, usually 30mph under the speed limit until I force it to speed up. Happens every time.

OffOil 2025-10-09 04:32

I like that feature on my commute, it helps me keep up with traffic in a safer manner, the caveat is that I set it to chime on 9mph over the posted speed limit. I don’t have to look at the speed, if it chimes and I want to slow down, I do.

quarter_roye 2025-10-09 13:34

Every time I use FSD in NYC, Max speed stops me from getting speed camera tickets, because even on Chill mode my Tesla insists on going 33 in a 25. Please fix this!

Unippa17 2025-10-09 15:51

99% of the time it brakes back down within 30 seconds. Only option is to pump the gas to avoid the annoying “Autopilot won’t break” alert.

Turbo0021 2025-10-09 16:00

Fix speed issue and bring back follow distance control!

ibelieve2020 2025-10-09 17:30

Driving the legal speed limit is apparently "driving slow"... But also, they won't accept liability if you get a speeding ticket. Cool...

vita10gy 2025-10-09 19:37

You heard it here first folks, Tesla is going to pay your speeding tickets because any input over what your car does is "error".

vita10gy 2025-10-09 19:39

Elon told day one line waiters for the Model 3 that we won't care that they didn't make good on the 35k promise (they eventually did) because "robotaxi will be making our payments anyway".

vita10gy 2025-10-09 19:42

I waited until it was actually worth the cost, which was in my case $2000, and included an upgrade to HW3. (I got in early where it was pay for EAP or get nothing.) I would like the car we were all promised, but at least on THAT side of things, I don't feel like I paid a shit load for promises that may never come. I weep for the people who paid $15k for FSD on a car that presumably came with AP standard. That's bananas. Though even I feel a little rug pulled because part of the reason I did it was up until that point Tesla had a hw3 first way of thinking. HW4 was basically just copying HW3. Just a few weeks later they decided HW3 is yesterday's news and they were going to start on hw4 only builds, that could hopefully be dumbed down enough to work on 3, but if not, oh well.

Lancaster61 2025-10-09 19:54

I’m interested for them to handle my commute edge case: a construction area that opens up to a non construction area, but they forgot to change the speed limit. So everyone (including the cops) goes like 20mph over the *technical* limit once it opens up. The current behavior on v13 is it *tries* speed up, but past a certain point from the posted limit it doesn’t go any faster. This means all cars are flowing past me, and I have to step the accelerator just to keep up. It’s almost like the “keep up with flow of traffic” logic is fighting with the “stay within a percentage of posted speed limit” logic, and the latter eventually wins out.

based5 2025-10-09 20:00

Do all the other modes speed by default?

based5 2025-10-09 20:01

Try chill profile maybe

yniloc 2025-10-09 20:32

I have tried that, so it's something that just needs to be fixed.

disergi0 2025-10-10 01:22

Does it work with speed bumps?

Rollertoaster7 2025-10-10 01:44

My fsd 13.2.9 does so I’m assuming this would continue to as well

ABoredDeveloper 2025-10-10 12:05

i guess my ‘21 stopped getting those free months of fsd because it’s now too old for fsd?

0uchCharlie 2025-10-10 18:37

Just give us hw3 owners something

[deleted] 2025-10-11 16:35

“Almost all user inputs are considered errors”. They literally treat Tesla owners like morons, just sit there and shut up you simple human lmao This company is so anti-human it’s wild, ya’ll must enjoy the humiliation ritual

aTickleMonster 2025-10-11 22:29

Mine reads the speed limit signs on exit ramps and slams on the brakes

pastanate 2025-10-14 14:20

Hey so I wanted to tell you my fsd is fixed. My car now does the speed limit and mostly 5-10 over (hurry and standard profile). Rarely i have to hit the gas in certain situations but its like a quick tap once or twice a 30min ride. No more hesitation when turning or passing. Car feels confident. Accelerates when it passes people and doesnt brake inappropriately now. I came across a Reddit thread where someone mentioned that version 12.6.4 introduced a firmware bug affecting calibration. Their method was to calibrate mostly on surface roads, then switch to the highway for the final few percent. After that, they wouldn’t enable FSD, would park the car (with no Sentry Mode), and let it go into a deep sleep — which supposedly restored their FSD performance. I tried their method, and while it didn’t work exactly the same for me, it got me thinking about trying different calibration routes. Here’s what I ended up doing: Reset DAS. In the service menu, reset each camera individually, then did a full camera reset. Reset DAS again. Two-button reset. Calibrated on a well-marked 4-lane road (2 lanes each way, 45 mph limit). At around 95% calibration, I switched to the closest thing i have to a highway (3 lanes each way, 55 mph). When I got home, I did another DAS reset and then let the car go into deep sleep (no Sentry Mode). Woke up the next morning and the car drove like it used to. And its been great the past week. Im back to using fsd daily with little to no interventions. **edit: wanted to add i did calibrate a few times after reading that reddit post. I tried a few roads in my area with no success. My last attempt what was different for me was the camera resets and two button reset. Also the road that made the biggest difference I think was the 45mph read that was clearly marked. So if this doesnt work for you maybe try different combinations of roads I know i have done all these things in the past with no success. I would just calibrate on the 55mph highway. So thats why im thinking that 45mph road was the ticket
