What a great idea

Theaty 2025-07-03 21:48

The S and X paint options are kinda misleading on that but hey go 3 and Y

samcrut 2025-07-03 22:01

LOL! Cybertruk's just a memory now.

DRTerabyte 2025-07-03 22:01

0% and 1.99% finance offers are gone so you’re actually loosing out overall. Not a good deal if financing.

KnowledgeSafe3160 2025-07-03 22:04

With those trash sale numbers? lol! They lost so much money in the cyber truck lol.

EndEmbarrassed9031 2025-07-03 22:09

Ditch Elon first please

philrich12 2025-07-03 22:10

Give me back 0% financing on a Y (or even 1.99%) and transferability of my FSD - and I'll trade in... Until then - I'll wait.

heh “Congrats to the folks losing healthcare because of the oaf I helped elect, but here peasants have color for free”

KnowledgeSafe3160 2025-07-03 22:21

lol they’re selling ~5k a quarter. Down from ~20k a quarter in 2024. Significantly less than the first year when All the reservations were being bought. Lightning passed them this quarter. Silverado is ramping up and getting more sales as well. They’re catching up easily +40% from last year. Cybertruck is what? Down 75% from this time last year? Also you’re using gross revenue. That is a bad way to look at it. Less and less cyber trucks are being sold each quarter. Cost to build the truck, costs to build the factory, years of designs. It’s a flop lol. It was profitable when they were selling 20k units a quarter. What do you think it is at 5k units and trending down?

Some are included. Some colors cost extra. Price one out on Tesla's website and you'll see what colors have an up charge and which ones are included.

Moneyjb 2025-07-03 22:32

This is not a deal folks. Trust me they will offer some incentives that will be equally as good or better after this run out. With the tax credit ending I don’t expect them to go to heavy on model y and 3 incentives. People will be upgrading to get the tax credit. So it’s no reason for them to offer a lot this quarter

shaneinhisroom 2025-07-03 22:33

FSD transfer is there right now

cricket502 2025-07-03 22:36

Only one color, normally. For a lot of brands, there are a few free boring colors and many you have to pay for.

ENODEBEE 2025-07-03 22:45

They were profitable in Q32024 when the foundation series Cyberbeast began shipping en masse. One quarter later, the reservation list was exhausted and the price dropped by $20k. No indication the vehicle remains profitable

KnowledgeSafe3160 2025-07-03 22:45

Yea. I think they were profitable at the 20k a quarter number. Now it is my opinion, but I don’t think they are profitable on it anymore. They’ve been super quiet about it. But I don’t have access to their books so in all actuality I’m guessing 😁

Pepperidge Farm remembers when any color paint was included in a vehicle purchase price. Realistically, how much more does painting a car white cost them than painting it black?

ctzn4 2025-07-03 23:03

Well it used to be the case that black was free when the Model 3 came out. Then black and white were both free. Then only white was free. Then white and gray (MSM) were free. And now here we are, typically only gray is free.

ENODEBEE 2025-07-03 23:07

> Foundation Series AWD and Beast have been available since November 2023 No one is disputing this. Most Cyberbeast orders were given a delivery estimate in 2H2024 and very few shipped until then. 1H2024 was a far greater blend of AWD:Beast > If you bought a base, added FSD Exactly. They bundled a $7000 software package that provides 100% incremental profit.

ENODEBEE 2025-07-03 23:27

Last I checked they don't come painted.

midnight_to_midnight 2025-07-04 00:04

No. Currently, it's the dark Grey color. I think the last time white was free was a few years ago.

jbcraigs 2025-07-04 00:13

You are so wrong. Those babies are probably just selling themselves. So no marketing required! 😂

Far-Curve-7497 2025-07-04 00:14

what about it?

Colemania18 2025-07-04 00:24

It's common in the new car world not just EVs. I just looked up Kia chose a random car and every trim has colors you have to pay extra for

Hungry-Quote-1388 2025-07-04 00:34

Ford charges $500 extra if you want a $31k Escape (non-EV) in red.

Snoo93079 2025-07-04 00:58

Model Ys aren't luxury, that's the X. Y is more mainstream

yetiflask 2025-07-04 01:15

uh what? paints being extra has been a thing for cars ever since I was born. I have never seen a car NOT charge more for nicer colors might not be a thing for maybe a corolla or base model fiesta or something. but it certainly is a thing with any decent car imaginable. i've never seen a car without it

ValuablePenalty104 2025-07-04 01:23

What was different 4 days ago?

terran1212 2025-07-04 01:30

They do best incentives end of quarter.

MooselookManiac 2025-07-04 01:31

The deal is used Teslas. Depreciation is insane. You have to be financially illiterate to buy one new at MSRP. You can literally buy a lightly used Model S for the same price as a new Model 3.

ZeroWashu 2025-07-04 01:39

GM is holding strong on their zero percent offers on Equinox and Blazer and I would expect Tesla to come back with lower interest rates to move metal. Heck we should expect any manufacturer not already doing so will do so and or put money on the purchase.

casino_r0yale 2025-07-04 01:42

Some people don’t want to buy lightly used things. It’s dumb to call it financially illiterate. Just say you can’t afford it or you can but you don’t value a new vehicle.

TheGamerguy110 2025-07-04 02:11

The interest rates are a lot lower on new models. And inventory deals go crazy.

TAoie83 2025-07-04 02:32

What about for cyber truck?

venk 2025-07-04 02:42

This. The only way it’s better to buy new is if you have a FSD transfer, then FSD+tax credit should be roughly equal to the 1st year depreciation.

VideoGameJumanji 2025-07-04 03:15

The prices are busted in Canada right now. My model y was 68k cad and they’ve been at 85 cad for months now. Tesla is unaffordable in Canada right now

Watada 2025-07-04 03:35

I'm sure all three cyber truck owners won't mind paying again.

sevaiper 2025-07-04 03:38

With 0% apr and the tax credit the new 3 was a great deal last quarter, that 0% apr in this environment is worth at least 5k

No-Money-5104 2025-07-04 03:51

I’ve lost much value out of my model y, they would have to offer 10k more on trade in and 0%… can’t believe how much the value fell in 5 years from 60k to 20k

TAoie83 2025-07-04 04:17

Am serious ; only see 0apr with fsd purchased

CAVU1331 2025-07-04 04:19

lol you have to pay for different colors on a Nissan Versa.

No_Purpose6384 2025-07-04 04:22

Agreed. Free FSD transfer was the tipping point for me

mittypyon 2025-07-04 04:45

0% new MY and i'll bite.

g1aiz 2025-07-04 04:54

They sell less than 1k of each per month worldwide. So nobody really buys S/X anyway.

JordanZHP 2025-07-04 05:17

Exactly.

kftnyc 2025-07-04 05:18

Except the government hands you $11,000 (in many states) to buy a brand new one. Depreciation is excellent when you consider the true cost. Ironically, the same tax credits are also the biggest reason that the used market favors buyers.

kftnyc 2025-07-04 05:19

First year depreciation is not $19,000.

kftnyc 2025-07-04 05:22

They should get a job with benefits.

__meat__eater 2025-07-04 05:30

Used Tesla is the best deal right now.

venk 2025-07-04 05:31

8,000 + 7,500 =19K? It’s not hard to find a 24 Model Y for $30-32k with around 10K miles on it. The was $46k before the tax credit iirc. FSD adds almost no value to the car in resale, maybe $2k at most in resale and drives the price up to $54k new. So you are talking about $14k-$20k depreciation, subtract a % for the juniper refresh driving down pre juniper Vehicles and it’s pretty safe to say that getting “FSD for free” via transfer and a tax credit is required to balance out the first year depreciation.

sd_pl 2025-07-04 06:09

This means the red M3P qualifies for the $7500 credit without FSD shenanigans. My current M3P also needs new tires.... Tempting.

Classic_Gur9360 2025-07-04 06:27

Awesome!

[deleted] 2025-07-04 08:06

Third party only for me, my second used Tesla is running strong. Xxxx nickel 'n diming for paint! White used to be the free color until they realized it was popular.

siddhuncle 2025-07-04 09:23

Did he stutter? Low financing AND transfers.

IqtidarA 2025-07-04 10:13

They should've offered the [Quicksilver (Model 3/Y)](https://www.teslaoracle.com/tag/quicksilver/) and the [Lunar Silver (Model S/X)](https://www.teslaoracle.com/2024/05/25/tesla-model-s-and-model-x-get-the-new-lunar-silver-paint-option/) to make it more appealing.

Informal_Highlight 2025-07-04 10:28

Depends on where you are. I searched 400 miles in every direction near me before I got my Y and all the used Ys had at least 30-40k miles (I drive 500 miles a week for work so having the lowest amount of miles was important to me).

dbv2 2025-07-04 10:47

Would be nice, but then that would not be red, white and blue for 4th of July, which is the whole point. Think that is creative they did that regardless if good deal or not. 🙂

IqtidarA 2025-07-04 12:15

Right.

MightyOwl9 2025-07-04 12:47

They should build a midsize cybertruck for $45k. I would love one

kftnyc 2025-07-04 12:56

Many of Tesla’s highest selling states have total credits worth $10-11k. I sold my 2018 Model 3 LRRWD about 6 months ago for $21k. KBB on my almost a year old 2024 M3P is only about 8k less than I paid for it. Sure the HW3 cars take an extra hit, but anyone buying a new HW4 car doesn’t need to worry about depreciation. In fact, there will probably be no first year depreciation on a Tesla purchased now because the new price will effectively be $7,500 higher a year from now.

dulladdiction 2025-07-04 13:06

How did you sell your M3? Have the same spec and looking to upgrade

venk 2025-07-04 13:23

That’s interesting, in my neck of the woods I was looking for a used Model 3 LR and they were pretty much always for sale well below 18K and some high mileage versions closer to 15k on Facebook Marketplace. Those also have an additional $4500 tax credit that is keeping the values up (anyone can get it if they conduct the transaction through keysavy). Once the credits go away, prices go down, not up. Most likely Tesla will need to drop their prices and eat some of that credit loss (hence “free color”). . I would agree that prices would remain the same if the cars were flying off the shelves, but their deliveries are down nearly 20% and their customers about to see a $7500 increase. I can pickup an inventory Juniper Model Y RWD, which has only been delivered for a couple of weeks, today without any issue in most if not all of the country. Why do you think Elon is ‘suddenly’ against the BBB. My guess is Trump promised him either the credit would be safe or tariffs would raise competitors prices without impacting Teslas. He didn’t come through on either. I can pickup an inventory Juniper Model Y RWD, which has only been delivered for a couple of weeks, today without any issue in most if not all of the country. They may prefer to drop the prices of options instead of the car, but they will drop. The loss of the used credit will harm the cheap model 3/Y market also. If you don’t have a FSD transfer and just have the tax credit, you are way better off buying a used Model Y or waiting for a used Juniper. (Doubly so if you WANT FSD) If you’re not eligible for either the tax credit or the transfer, wait a few months and see what Teslas’s willing to eat themselves and see how that impacts the used market. I also didn’t count state credits since not everyone is eligible for those.

shaneinhisroom 2025-07-04 15:47

meh, pay in cash and that's not a problem

TheMadolche 2025-07-04 16:19

? Those are both there now. I just bought a new 3 and had both of those options.

Errand_Wolfe_ 2025-07-04 16:28

this is a bad take, a used Model S is a completely different car than a brand new Model 3. A lot bigger, drives differently, worse efficiency. Not to mention insurance costs / long term repair costs are likely to be substantially higher if you plan to keep the car for a while.

volcanic_clay 2025-07-04 21:03

I thought inventory deals went away?

TheMadolche 2025-07-04 21:45

I just checked. Sadly, I think it just went away in July sorry.

kevin7898 2025-07-04 21:59

Tarrifs are murdering the new prices in Canada, i want a new y, but not bad enough to pay an additional 20k over sticker. I can put ALOT of gas in my pickup for 20k

[deleted] 2025-07-04 23:56

That's what I did. 7500 tax credit + 8k FSD transfer + 1k loyalty bonus which is apparently a thing, = 16.5k off the new model 3. I did look at used at the same time, but the prices on the used 2024 3s with lesser incentives really weren't better than going new. That might change significantly when the tax credits go away (which, tbh, was part of why I went ahead and traded up), but it seemed to make sense then.

kftnyc 2025-07-05 03:59

I posted on cars.com and was contacted by a buyer for a bunch of dealerships.

chaosatom 2025-07-05 05:20

Lease with 0%apr would be dream come true.

TheGamerguy110 2025-07-05 06:16

Just checked and you're right, they're nothing like they were before. I got a brand new Model 3 Highland AWD in November for 38k

crimepais 2025-07-05 11:12

If your business model only succeeds on taxpayer welfare maybe you need to get a better product. Also, Teslas sales have dropped 13% this year so why wouldn't they need to keep discounting?

Moneyjb 2025-07-05 11:13

They do need to but not this quarter. The sells pitch is buy now to get the 7500 tax credit. Next quarter they and beyond they will definitely have to discount and run incentives every quarter to make people want to buy.

Salty_Leather42 2025-07-05 12:11

To be followed by the next “deal” …. Free tires for a limited time !! Buy now !  And remember kids. FSD is ONLY 8 thousand dollars - it turns your car into an /appreciating/ asset !

dozey- 2025-07-05 16:45

lol. elron getting too desperate

[deleted] 2025-07-05 19:43

This deal is best if you’re leasing, which I plan to do.

lastlaugh100 2025-07-06 00:22

Don’t forget to stack with $1,000 military, EMT, or teacher discount.  $500 loyalty discount too.  $1,500 off my new lease, plan to do early buyout

Maleficent_Quote_440 2025-07-06 02:36

I thought white was already free?

hatefulevo 2025-07-06 03:27

i’m waiting for the model y performance then hopefully 0-1.99% apr + 7.5k tax credit

hondaman82 2025-07-06 05:47

Waiting for .99 apr or lower for model y and free white color

icy1007 2025-07-06 06:42

It’s inventory Teslas, not used.

Geeky_1 2025-07-06 09:08

That was in the early days. Grey has been the free color for the last few years.

elchurnerista 2025-07-07 05:53

Friendly-Builder-911 2025-07-07 09:34

RayDaMan7 2025-07-07 21:42

Got it. Thanks.

Coachy-coach 2025-07-08 20:09

Marketing patriotism. Gross.

TorZidan 2025-07-09 15:31

The web site now says "Free red, white or blue paint option on new Model Y". Does not say that the deal would ever end.

Aggressive_Today_342 2025-07-10 02:06

If you go to either m3 or mY, there will be a label under the colors that states the deal ends on July 14th.

Logical-Blood-4027 2025-07-15 05:23

No manufacturer pays taxes and fees. They had zero down lease for 350$ for model 3 and 399 for Y. That's pretty great deal if you look at other options right now

skyypirate 2025-07-19 09:47

I mean you can buy a shitty econobox if all you are chasing is fuel economy. Sometimes we just want new things that don't make financial sense.
