Does anyone have any idea what this hidden model 3 free supercharging promo is on the official modely page?

whiteSkar | 2025-04-11 00:09 | 246 views

The promotion looks too good to be true but it's on the official website. You can only see it in the developer tools. It's supposed to show up in a modal UI when pressing a button. However, the button is nowhere to be seen.

Nice find

Issaction 2025-04-11 02:21

Great catch. Maybe this is coming later in the quarter? Free supercharging is a really smart way to sell more cars as it typically costs Tesla very little at the end of the day. Most people with the option will do the vast majority of charging at home anyway.

Pro_Vita1925 2025-04-11 03:01

Sooooooo old code that never went into effect?

Tim_Drake_510 2025-04-11 03:13

Tesla webdevs are lazy and copy pasted ?

engwish 2025-04-11 03:28

Perhaps it could be a promotion that shows us when there is a special query parameter. Maybe they’re working on something, or forgot to scrap it.

SippieCup 2025-04-11 03:31

It’s just part of the abstract (generic) sales page that get extended for each actual sales page for when they enable the promotion on a specific car. It’s just a component on the page that is toggled off for non s/x cars. It doesn’t mean it is coming to the model 3 or anything.

DewB77 2025-04-11 03:35

Its a small discount at the end of the day. Once you own a Tesla, you will realize the large majority of your miles are added at home.

start3ch 2025-04-11 03:40

Easter egg or mistake?

Cerebrin 2025-04-11 03:40

Think they had a similar offer in china with the costco offer. Most likely its for employees.

xItsFreddy 2025-04-11 04:26

There is absolutely no way that can be true.

MustangV6Premium 2025-04-11 04:28

Likely legacy website code that wasn’t removed from years ago. You ain’t getting free supercharging lol

GizmoPatterson 2025-04-11 05:02

Use some js to trigger the modal and find out

_casshern_ 2025-04-11 06:59

Dang. I wish I could have picked a free wall connector instead of the free mobile charger for my Juniper.

tmoney34 2025-04-11 07:06

It's likely there for if/when they turn it on.

Ok-Giraffe8565 2025-04-11 07:41

If you switch the site to French, the banner is displayed

pachewychomp 2025-04-11 08:04

What were you looking for to find this?

Ok_Priority458 2025-04-11 08:12

In some countries old model y stock gets 2 years of free supercharging...not to be used by rideshare/taxi.

tysonedwards 2025-04-11 08:32

Gonna go out on a limb and say it’s the thing you highlighted, that it is an in-store promotion only, and is about on-par with their typical quarterly discounts. Internally, this program typically costs them $1000 / year. Near the end of the quarter, programs like this get pushed more to help close the deal.

LilGossipGirlxo 2025-04-11 09:25

It is for the pre-facelift remaining stock

Itchy_Platypus4085 2025-04-11 10:26

If its not on the UI it doesn't matter.

NoSong6507 2025-04-11 12:02

WOW! intersting

Vegetable_Wolf_4196 2025-04-11 12:08

I guess they changed their minds

skeet_scoot 2025-04-11 12:11

Someone accidentally pushed to prod and nobody noticed cause it’s hidden lol

damonlebeouf 2025-04-11 12:36

totally depending on use case. for me that would be pretty substantial for a regular long distance trip i take for work.

miraculum_one 2025-04-11 13:03

The text says it's for Model 3

miraculum_one 2025-04-11 13:03

Based on the hidden text, the promotion started 10 days ago so weird if this is the case

DewB77 2025-04-11 13:53

For sure, but I think the overlap between those that Frequently rely on supercharging (Materialy, not 5 minutes here or there), and those that are really getting the **monitary** benefits from owning a electric car are a fairly small cohort.

DewB77 2025-04-11 13:55

Costs, or loss of profits? Large descrepentcy on this type of thing, where the incrimental cost to supply more power is nearly all variable.

Defiant_Victory_6049 2025-04-11 14:11

Buy Model Y, get free supercharging for a Model 3! 😅

Jmaster_888 2025-04-11 14:16

Is that a hidden April fool’s joke lol?

KrispyBacn 2025-04-11 14:16

It says 2025….sooo? Edit: I thought about and says hey dummy old code does not mean like last year it could just be old version anyway…. Carry on

felixfelix 2025-04-11 14:18

Maybe it’s planned for end of the month, backdated so people who bought just prior don’t feel burned by “just” missing out.

unuomosolo 2025-04-11 14:21

In Italy you can see this banner, 2 years of free supercharger and an additional 4000 discount for inventory Model Y

Expert-here 2025-04-11 14:28

So about a $3k discount. Is that too good to be true for you?

insaneplane 2025-04-11 14:28

An offer for free supercharging is visible on the Swiss page. Maybe it is market dependent?

whiteSkar 2025-04-11 15:48

I was able to make the modal show up but I couldn't find the button that would trigger the modal.

whiteSkar 2025-04-11 15:49

the date is this year this month so I doubt it's a legacy code from years ago

whiteSkar 2025-04-11 15:50

was googling tesla 3 promo or something along the line

whiteSkar 2025-04-11 15:51

absolute value wise maybe not. However, most model 3 supercharging promos were only 3 months long. So I thought 3 years is too good to be true.

GizmoPatterson 2025-04-11 16:03

So once it is triggered can you use said coupon

whiteSkar 2025-04-11 17:22

It's not a coupon. It is just a modal(pop up) with that said text. Nothing interactive on it.

GizmoPatterson 2025-04-11 17:35

Gotcha. Probably should call Elon and let him know

whiteSkar 2025-04-11 17:46

Tweeted but no luck

damonlebeouf 2025-04-11 20:06

i absolutely get your point and don’t disagree. don’t count us out that would LOVE this offer though. if they did offer it i would more than likely jump on it now versus waiting to make a Y purchase next year. over the course of a 3 year lease (then probably subsequent lease buyout for my daughters first car) free supercharging for 3 years would save me around $3k or so in supercharging expenses.

spinwizard69 2025-04-11 20:50

It would be a lot more interesting if we had a supercharger locally.

Fun_Muscle9399 2025-04-11 20:54

If I had free supercharging, I would be using the shit out of it

SillyMilk7 2025-04-11 21:18

Yeah, I think it's used in some foreign countries, and they may not have as high electrical rates.

Life_Connection420 2025-04-11 22:20

I had it for a year on my first tesla. Used it only once since the nearest charger was 4 miles away and I figured my time was worth more than charging at home.

Fun_Muscle9399 2025-04-11 22:41

I drive by two superchargers every day. If I timed my charging to go from 10-60%, it wouldn’t be that inconvenient for me.

apu823 2025-04-12 00:58

How?

avadelabug 2025-04-12 04:04

1 April)))

jeremyj0916 2025-04-12 08:05

My 2015 MS with free supercharging I save like $2.5k a year in “gas cost equivalent”. So probably like $1.XX k savings compared to charging in my garage. So that promo is like a $3k energy coupon over time for those who will heavily take the time to super charge near their home who live close to one. If you’re a daily work commuter with an hr 1 way drive the savings could probably be like $2-3k a year though. It’s still nice just to fill up for free, something premium about the experience hah.

Single-Impression-20 2025-04-12 09:38

In Germany its 0% apr and 1 year free supercharging for old Model Y

THATS_LEGIT_BRO 2025-04-12 11:14

I got 3 free months. I used it once. I’d rather had ‘x’ miles of free supercharging than ‘x’ free months.

RedElmo65 2025-04-12 12:54

Others are not as cheap as you. They value convenience. Or they don’t live in California where electricity is off the charts.

whiteSkar 2025-04-12 21:41

The hidden promo stayed there when I asked a dealer at a dealership. It stayed there even after I called the customer service and talked to two different reps. It's now removed after I posted this Reddit post and many people saw it.

markpb 2025-04-12 21:49

The image is for MY but the hidden text relates to buying an M3.

kindservant99 2025-04-12 22:48

This.

rawasubas 2025-04-12 22:54

It’s great for those who don’t own a house. Many still live in apartments or rent houses.

Quin1617 2025-04-13 02:12

Owning a Tesla(or any EV) in that scenario just isn’t a good idea. Renting a house varies, I rent but the dryer outlet is right next to the garage.

KratosWisdom 2025-04-13 02:34

For selling purposes. What would be great is 4 year free supercharging for all new Teslas and for current Tesla owners for every referral that purchases a new Tesla you get a free year of supercharging.

mntEden 2025-04-13 02:53

i bought mine a few days before April. i get they have to cut it off somewhere but it would’ve been nice to know this at the time. i would’ve just waited another week

Deathstroke5289 2025-04-13 20:21

Be good for people that live in apartments without a charger

DewB77 2025-04-13 23:05

Hot Take: TBH, those people probably shouldnt have electric cars.

Deathstroke5289 2025-04-14 10:39

Yea, normally I’d kinda agree but I think its more doable for them with 3 years of free supercharging though

DewB77 2025-04-14 15:52

Definitely a QOL upgrade, but the monitary benefit (of driving EVs) accrues to those that can charge at home and drive more than the average volume of miles.

sardoge 2025-04-15 20:57

I’m definitely enjoying the free unlimited supercharging for life on my 2018 M3P. Tesla offered to buy it back for me years ago for $5k I’m not sure if I’ve broke even yet, but it’s nice not having an additional fuel bill on road trips

Large_m4rge 2025-06-12 07:44

Just stumbled across this post & updating to add that they're offering this on their website to official pre-owned vehicle purchases. I live in a condo HOA w/o self charge capabilities, but ironically hope to move in the next 3-4 years so would invest in installing one at my new place. I'll just have to treat it like shopping for gas during that time frame. Any idea how long it'd take me to fill up at a supercharger in a long range model y (just the ev I'm considering)? This may have been the exact kinda determining factor I've been searching for in order to further away my decision to go with a Tesla > RAV4 PHEV. Thanks!

whiteSkar 2025-06-12 08:35

I dont know about model y but for LR model 3, it takes about 30 min from 5 percent to 80 percent with preconditioned battery.

Large_m4rge 2025-06-15 04:17

Thanks for the info!

Different_Push1727 2025-07-24 00:13

Haha $5k only? Pfft. I probably use that in 15-18 months. They could kiss my ass for 5K haha
