Also true (i.e., missing) at Tesla [Canadian](https://shop.tesla.com/en_ca/category/charging) and [Mexican](https://shop.tesla.com/es_mx/category/carga) websites. CCS1 adapter ***is*** still available on [South Korean](https://shop.tesla.com/ko_kr/product/ccs-combo-1-adapter---south-korea) website. Does this mean: 1. CCS1 adapter is truly and permanently discontinued. 2. Hardware retrofit is no longer available. 3. Or this is just temporary. ***If*** Tesla has abandoned its CCS1 adapter, it means that drivers will have to depend on aftermarket equipment (or find Tesla adapters on the used item markets like eBay or Craig's List).
Update: CCS1 adapter is still listed in [Tesla Online Parts Catalog](https://epc.tesla.com/en-US/landingpage): * Part Name: CCS1 ADAPTER ASSEMBLY * Part Number: 1656565-00-A * Price: $300(USD) The adapter and/or the CCS-compatibility upgrades may possibly still be available (a) in person at Tesla service centers and/or (b) by ordering through "service" on the Tesla App.
I noticed this as well. It was odd, would sometimes go on sale for $ 125 or $200.
I've wondered when Tesla would start offering "NACS Retrofits" which would be the same as the CCS retrofit but without the adapter. Eventually all the existing CCS infrastructure will need to offer NACS cables to stay relevant and the CCS adapter will become unnecessary for third party DC charging. It seems a little early for that but I figured a day will come in the future when the "CCS Upgrade" becomes simply a "NACS Upgrade" and for a lower cost (since no adapter is included).
Got it in sale for $150. I bought it for “insurance” but chances are, I will never use it. I tested it once at a local DC charger and paid 59c per kW. Nearby SC was 39c. I am yet to find a DC charger cheaper than a nearby Tesla SC
Same here. I snagged it when it was $125. I've already used it at a free CCS charger and saved some money. Doesn't hurt to have options.

I thought it was a HAVE TO HAVE item when I bought my Tesla 3 years ago.... nope. Never needed it
I have used it exactly one time….. but it REALLY saved me that one time. One of those “you’d rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it” type of purchases.
Hardware retrofit will almost certainly remain available indefinitely since it is also required if you want to use third party NACS chargers
I get it and that's what I expected!
CCS1 or J1772? Not the same. CCS is for fast charging while J1772 is for level 2 charging.
Yes. I think the CCS1 adapter was $300(USD) just before it disappeared. That is contrary to other Tesla charging equipment that dropped in price before being (eventually) cancelled. Not sure what Tesla's thinking was on this.
I haven’t used mine yet, but in the remote Intermountain West I thought it was a good thing to have as part of my charging armamentarium.
We have one free 50kW CCS charger in the entire metro area and it's always got a car plugged into it, even in the middle of the night.
Good point. I bought my Model X in early 2021. Came with pretty much everything (except FSD). I don't always remember that various features/functions (e.g., Supercharger-compatibility, CCS-compatibility, premier audio, free Supercharging, tow-package, garage door opener) didn't come standard on earlier model-years.
I just noticed that yesterday. My car needs the retro fit for 3rd party NACS. (Main reason id do it) Local service center wanted me to schedule service through the app, but obviously I can't select it.
Yes. I don't think any Tesla cars came with free CCS1 adapters, correct? However, all new cars (still) come with J1772 adapters, afaik.
I can confirm and many people on the TMC forms received both CCS1 and J1772 adapters in the cyber Y’s

OK. That is a first, for me. Interesting. So is the Juniper Y still coming new with CCS1 adapters? Maybe this whole "no-CCVS1-adapters-on-the website" is just a temporary thing? ("Tempest in a tea-pot.")

It saved me once but other than that I rarely use it. Worth having though because the one time I did need it my range estimate was very wrong and I was in the middle of nowhere. It said I’d arrive with 20% and when I was half way there it said like -5%. Very glad I had it because the only charger for a hundred miles was ccs Edit: I did also have a free ccs near my house for a year and absolutely the adapter paid for itself at least three times over.
Wanna sell the second one for cheap? lol
You just write it in the notes under miscellaneous.
I’ve tried to use it multiple times, the one station left was broken every time 😭
We leased a model Y yesterday. It came with a CCS adapter in the trunk
Could be a newer version coming, with higher charging speeds and more compatibility since the one that was just discontinued didn’t even fit into the cybertruck
I've been trying to get my free CCS1 (and TIL 3rd party NACS) retrofit for years, they never have the parts at my SC when I happen to be getting something else done.
I just went to try and buy one and now gone with my luck. If anyone is willing to party with there’s for a price let me know
Try ordering one using "Service" on your phone App. Supply the Part Number (from [Tesla Online Parts Catalog](https://epc.tesla.com/en-US/landingpage)). * Part Name: CCS1 ADAPTER ASSEMBLY * Part Number: 1656565-00-A * Price: $300(USD)
Thank you for that, just did it. How would they respond if they do/don’t have ?
Not sure. I am in the Sacramento, California area. When I have sent messages to Tesla Service (using the App), they (located in Nevada, perhaps?) tend to respond in a couple of days. Could be a "yes" or a "no" response, I guess. If yes, I assume that your Tesla account (with your payment method on file with Tesla) will eventually be charged and you will receive instructions to pick up the adapter at a local Service Center? Please let us know how it goes. Good luck.
Thank you, first time using the service appointment for me
Definitely good to have for traveling out west in more remote areas. It really came in handy for us last year visiting Glacier National Park.
Did you get a response from them?
Yes, it took longer than it should but they had the adapter and I got it
Looks like it might be a faster version of it. Just got a quote and I got one last month and I noticed that the itemized quote showed Combo retrofit version 3 and last month it showed retrofit version 2.
Update from my Service Center on CCS retrofit install: \-Price has increased from $300 to $380 \-It is a new version of the ECU now version 3 \- No clue when or if it will be listed again on the website, not sure why they took it down in the first place. But still available through service center. Also not sure what Version 3 does if any changes to speed.
Damn.. I only got a J1772 in my trunk 😂
Will using aftermarket void battery warranty?
I am not a lawyer, and I don't know. But,... Many, many of people are using (less expensive) aftermarket adapters. Occasionally, but probably uncommonly, there are problems. Damage to a car, charging equipment, or (most rare?) a person could potentially occur. If you want the most assurance that no one can blame you for using an aftermarket product ***if*** a problem occurs, stick with Tesla authorized adapters (for Tesla cars; Ford adapters for Fords, etc.).
**10/3/25 UPDATE**: Tesla CCS1 adapter is back on the Tesla USA and Canada webpages.
