> In its current state, your vehicle disables the rear 110V outlet, What rear outlet?
when you open the trunk, driver side alcove there is a 12v outlet
On what model? Parent ninja edited, I was quite clearly asking about a mythical 110V outlet
I have a 3 and a Y and if there was a power outlet in my trunk this whole time I'ma lose my shit
What rear 110v socket?!?!?! New model 3 owner here.
No it’s a cigarette lighter outlet in the back of the Y (left hand side)
I wonder if the 110V outlet they’re referring to is the Cybertruck.
Cybertruck has a 120V/240V outlet set in the bed, right?
Model Y
Probably, couldn’t have killed them to mention it though
Yes and in and behind the console, but it already has an option to turn it on and off even from the app.
CT already has a mobile app option to turn on outlets.
Fantastic. Was really missing this for my trunk fridge when it was removed last year. This is even better than before, as it won't require sentry mode on now.
Pretty sure it’s Model Y specific
It's supposed to be 12v socket I think. M3 doesn't get rear 12v socket unless you install them yourself like me.
This article says there’s a 110v back there. Not in my car there ain’t
My trunk fridge lives again!
Thank god! I was complaining about this so much and was one of the major reasons I was considering a switch to Rivian. I power a 12v fridge _very_ often and I had to buy a 1kw battery to act as a buffer since Tesla made the 12v change. I never drove the car long enough to keep the 1kw charged and it was a huge mess. I'm very happy this is returning.
There is in the Y lol left side

The round 12V plug
I'm still making the switch to either vivian, Dodge or Chevy.

Oh, same. I was teetering on impulse purchasing an R1S but this change makes it easier to wait for the R2 instead.
When is this supposed to happen?
Aren't they running at 16 volts in post 2022 vehicles anyway? This is frustrating with so many accessory's having high voltage cutoff at 15.5v
You mean the one that actually outputs 16V?
Correct.
Both the Model Y and Model X include a 12V socket in the rear left pillar of the vehicle, which is located under a flap, alongside a 12V socket in the front of the vehicle. The Model S and Model 3 only include USB ports and a 12V socket in the front.
This was a shock to me, why didn't they put a 12v socket in the boot/trunk. I literally thought that was a given on most cars now - didn't even think to question it.
It's not 12v, it's 16v for whatever stupid reason
On time for the camping season!
Excellent news. I hated when this got taken away. I had to buy a battery to cart around with my giant battery just to keep my groceries cold while we went into a different shop. Was such a stupid move.
It looks like the newest models are switching back to a 12.8v LiFePo battery.
It's like a vape, but analog and much more unhealthy.
Finally FFS
Any chance you can share how you did that 👀 Which wire to tap into, max power you can pull, etc.?
Good. Shouldn’t have disabled it without this option present for the user to begin with. Bush league feature roll out process.
I think the model X and Y are used more for car camping where you would want a rear outlet. Larger (taller clearance) for putting a mattress in the back.

Ok
What are you using for a trunk fridge?
F40c4tmp fridge
This! Bouge RV!
Tesfridge by ACOPOWER
Finally the starlink will work with me outside of the car
Ohhh, you tapped into the DC-DC converter output line? The big huge wire? Darn. Was hoping someone found a line in the back already 😅
I read on another forum. That they are planning to put it in the spring update
Tesla needs to implement a 48 VDC power point standard.
Fridge has saved us a ton of money with the kids. No more random stops at stores for overpriced water bottles or drinks.
Just got the update on my 2024 model y!! This is awesome! Now to figure out a way to remotely enable/disable as needed…
Would it be ok to tap into the DC-DC converter for a trunk refrigerator?
Other people have done it. I'm personally not a fan of it. I'll let you come up with your own conclusion :)
