> In its current state, your vehicle disables the rear 110V outlet, What rear outlet?

schwheelz 2025-04-07 23:35

when you open the trunk, driver side alcove there is a 12v outlet

cac2573 2025-04-07 23:35

On what model? Parent ninja edited, I was quite clearly asking about a mythical 110V outlet

TiredMillennialDad 2025-04-07 23:38

I have a 3 and a Y and if there was a power outlet in my trunk this whole time I'ma lose my shit

Faangdevmanager 2025-04-07 23:44

What rear 110v socket?!?!?! New model 3 owner here.

schaudhery 2025-04-07 23:45

No it’s a cigarette lighter outlet in the back of the Y (left hand side)

schaudhery 2025-04-07 23:46

I wonder if the 110V outlet they’re referring to is the Cybertruck.

JamMydar 2025-04-07 23:47

Cybertruck has a 120V/240V outlet set in the bed, right?

trk29 2025-04-07 23:48

Model Y

cac2573 2025-04-07 23:48

Probably, couldn’t have killed them to mention it though

Shygar 2025-04-07 23:59

Yes and in and behind the console, but it already has an option to turn it on and off even from the app.

Shygar 2025-04-08 00:00

CT already has a mobile app option to turn on outlets.

Goatblasterman 2025-04-08 00:10

Fantastic. Was really missing this for my trunk fridge when it was removed last year. This is even better than before, as it won't require sentry mode on now.

junior4l1 2025-04-08 00:25

Pretty sure it’s Model Y specific

AirFryerAreOverrated 2025-04-08 00:43

It's supposed to be 12v socket I think. M3 doesn't get rear 12v socket unless you install them yourself like me.

zikronix 2025-04-08 00:49

This article says there’s a 110v back there. Not in my car there ain’t

iDeFuSiioN 2025-04-08 00:55

My trunk fridge lives again!

jinjuu 2025-04-08 00:58

Thank god! I was complaining about this so much and was one of the major reasons I was considering a switch to Rivian. I power a 12v fridge _very_ often and I had to buy a 1kw battery to act as a buffer since Tesla made the 12v change. I never drove the car long enough to keep the 1kw charged and it was a huge mess. I'm very happy this is returning.

Shamefulbook69 2025-04-08 01:16

There is in the Y lol left side

schaudhery 2025-04-08 01:37

The round 12V plug

[deleted] 2025-04-08 01:56

I'm still making the switch to either vivian, Dodge or Chevy.

jinjuu 2025-04-08 02:37

Oh, same. I was teetering on impulse purchasing an R1S but this change makes it easier to wait for the R2 instead.

NoBet8483 2025-04-08 03:17

When is this supposed to happen?

[deleted] 2025-04-08 04:51

Aren't they running at 16 volts in post 2022 vehicles anyway? This is frustrating with so many accessory's having high voltage cutoff at 15.5v

4kVHS 2025-04-08 05:15

You mean the one that actually outputs 16V?

4kVHS 2025-04-08 05:16

Correct.

Mr_Style 2025-04-08 06:36

Both the Model Y and Model X include a 12V socket in the rear left pillar of the vehicle, which is located under a flap, alongside a 12V socket in the front of the vehicle. The Model S and Model 3 only include USB ports and a 12V socket in the front.

HettySwollocks 2025-04-08 07:23

This was a shock to me, why didn't they put a 12v socket in the boot/trunk. I literally thought that was a given on most cars now - didn't even think to question it.

junktrunk909 2025-04-08 07:27

It's not 12v, it's 16v for whatever stupid reason

GhostOfOurFuture 2025-04-08 07:37

On time for the camping season!

plains203 2025-04-08 07:45

Excellent news. I hated when this got taken away. I had to buy a battery to cart around with my giant battery just to keep my groceries cold while we went into a different shop. Was such a stupid move.

biggsteve81 2025-04-08 11:51

It looks like the newest models are switching back to a 12.8v LiFePo battery.

Umbristopheles 2025-04-08 13:59

It's like a vape, but analog and much more unhealthy.

SufficientBee 2025-04-08 14:39

Finally FFS

SassGoblin 2025-04-08 15:50

Any chance you can share how you did that 👀 Which wire to tap into, max power you can pull, etc.?

lurkingtonbear 2025-04-08 17:51

Good. Shouldn’t have disabled it without this option present for the user to begin with. Bush league feature roll out process.

Mr_Style 2025-04-08 19:10

I think the model X and Y are used more for car camping where you would want a rear outlet. Larger (taller clearance) for putting a mattress in the back.

adeadfetus 2025-04-09 00:56

Ok

rheckber3 2025-04-09 01:57

What are you using for a trunk fridge?

FIREgenomics 2025-04-09 05:26

F40c4tmp fridge

Qs9bxNKZ 2025-04-09 09:31

This! Bouge RV!

iDeFuSiioN 2025-04-09 11:35

Tesfridge by ACOPOWER

DaHunni 2025-04-09 11:45

Finally the starlink will work with me outside of the car

SassGoblin 2025-04-09 14:21

Ohhh, you tapped into the DC-DC converter output line? The big huge wire? Darn. Was hoping someone found a line in the back already 😅

ohnoyoudidntrick 2025-04-09 23:03

I read on another forum. That they are planning to put it in the spring update

spinwizard69 2025-04-11 20:46

Tesla needs to implement a 48 VDC power point standard.

Organic_Ad_1320 2025-04-22 04:06

Fridge has saved us a ton of money with the kids. No more random stops at stores for overpriced water bottles or drinks.

IMI4tth3w 2025-04-22 13:38

Just got the update on my 2024 model y!! This is awesome! Now to figure out a way to remotely enable/disable as needed…

Majestic_Ad5924 2025-07-10 19:46

Would it be ok to tap into the DC-DC converter for a trunk refrigerator?

SassGoblin 2025-07-10 20:01

Other people have done it. I'm personally not a fan of it. I'll let you come up with your own conclusion :)
