Amazing news

Stellar-Hijinks 2025-03-08 12:20

> While Tesla has seen gains in the UK, its performance across the rest of Europe has not been as positive, where the company has experienced double digit declines in many markets. From the article.

baldwalrus 2025-03-08 12:20

Just wait until the Model Y Juniper actually becomes widely available.

[deleted] 2025-03-08 12:21

I’m waiting for the juniper y performance. Ditch my 12 year old Corolla.

Dodge_Splendens 2025-03-08 12:30

The haters really set the bar so low on the sales that Tesla can easily get man wins in the coming Months. The New Model Y just started delivering in Europe two days ago.

farfromelite 2025-03-08 12:32

New tax rates on cars over £40k comes in in April this year. Also, march and September are big months for UK car registration as they're tied to new reg plates. Further, the article doesn't put this in context. I think other car makers are up a lot more.

THATS_LEGIT_BRO 2025-03-08 12:33

Yeah must be fake news lol

Sales surge 21%. Sales dramatically drop 57%. It seems like random people are trying to state random “facts”. I’m at the point where I don’t believe any of it anymore.

lol have you seen it? It’s not that different. Not exactly a game changer

baldwalrus 2025-03-08 14:37

It has significant improvements from the older car, including improved battery efficiency and range, much improved suspension (one of the biggest customer complaints on the Y), reduced road noise, and it no longer looks like a fish with it's mouth open. Not exactly a complete reinvention, but definitely better. And it's better than...the best selling car in the world, which has been the old Model Y for the last two years in a row. So they've made arguably the best car in the world better. But yeah, I'm sure that won't sell...

SaltyATC69 2025-03-08 15:18

Tesla doooooomed

Martbern 2025-03-08 15:41

The new Mini is so insanely overpriced

Radium 2025-03-08 15:44

You mean it was just the swap to the new Y after all that caused a dip in registrations? lol better downvote this, don’t want anyone to know

Rolandersec 2025-03-08 16:31

Is this like the Canadian dealer that was “selling” 150 teslas an hour?

💯

[deleted] 2025-03-08 17:33

Wait until all of those new buyers realize they have zero customer service (or even any access to it)!

goldenmunky 2025-03-08 17:40

People tend to hold off for the refresh model. That’s why you see a dip in jan. Ask yourself, do you want to buy the current model if you know the new one is coming out soon? I know some people would buy the current model but the majority probably won’t.

rainer_d 2025-03-08 17:56

10 is a slow week.

rainer_d 2025-03-08 17:58

That will be one giant leap.

rainer_d 2025-03-08 17:59

It depends on the price.

bme11 2025-03-08 18:03

Yeah my car is so beat up, someone backed into my car in the hospital deck and it’s dented, the front bumper is holding on by cable ties. My axle is messed up from hitting a the curb when I got cut off….my deductible is worth more than the car so I’m just waiting for the right car.

SnooStrawberries9855 2025-03-08 18:25

The only thing surging is the hate against the tesla brand. No one wants a tesla anymore. The brand is essentially dying.

DeusScientiae 2025-03-08 18:26

I don't get when people can't fathom how this is possible when you can literally buy a tesla in about 3 minutes on your phone.

Beginning_Water_4143 2025-03-08 18:28

It’s because the old model Y production ended and anyway everyone was waiting for the new Y. Also Launch series was a bit more expensive than what most buyers would be comfortable with. So it’s normal that January and February had low sales (a sale counts when the vehicle is delivered). In addition, a lot of European countries, mine included, have government incentives for EVs and they usually start in March-April, with a second batch in September. I expect sales to rise a lot starting April across Europe

NooBias 2025-03-08 18:28

>Further, the article doesn't put this in context. I think other car makers are up a lot more. The article mentions market share going up. If other maker where up a lot more market share wouldn't go up.

instantnet 2025-03-08 18:33

I have subscribed a long time since I had a bolt and leaf. Usually they have very few.

TheGoodOldCoder 2025-03-08 18:55

Since they're the same people who voted for Brexit, these numbers actually make some sense.

dangoodspeed 2025-03-08 20:30

Ninj4s 2025-03-08 20:48

And incentive. Where i am it's two years free supercharging for Performance and one year for LR now, on the old model.

JonG67x 2025-03-08 21:00

Just wait. Model Y production has been down for a month and a half ish due to retooling for the new model. Plus no one wants to buy the old model when the new one is coming out. Sales surge coming soon when production catches up (~1 month)

[deleted] 2025-03-08 21:41

Most Teslas in the UK are company cars (base white are penny to a dime). Big influx of people getting last orders of model Ys in on company schemes and getting orders in before the new EV tax comes in to play. I can’t imagine many will be ordering the Juniper with no PCH and 9% APR. I expect Model Y sales to be down a lot in the next quarter at least due to almost no company schemes offering Model Ys at the moment.

Tesla doesn't have dealers. You buy it online and pick it up at the store or they ship it to you.

daoistic 2025-03-09 02:52

Then how are specific locations reporting sales?

StdSam 2025-03-09 03:06

I mean obviously there’s going to a “surge” if they stopped selling the car. They should compare the numbers to before the shut down to see the real numbers.

DeusScientiae 2025-03-09 03:14

When you jump on the McDonald's app and buy a meal and go pick it up, how does that location track the sale at that specific location? Come on man, it's not rocket surgery. Can nobody solve basic problems anymore?

CuriousAndMysterious 2025-03-09 07:46

How is this possible?

bremidon 2025-03-09 13:55

Not the person you are talking to, but he's right: Tesla does not have dealers. The way it works is that you go online, pick out either a car that is in inventory near you or you just put in what you want: color, trim, etc... The whole thing takes about 3 minutes if you know what you want. At some point after that, you get the information that the car will be delivered to a location near you. Then you pick it up. There is no dealership. Nobody is getting commission. There is no haggling. The location, however, is still known. They know where they are delivering the car. And usually you will have a service station nearby if you have any questions. Finally, if you feel that this is against the law in the UK, I would be interested which law you think that is.

Swastik496 2025-03-09 15:11

nope. you buy online and pickup at the showroom(not independent dealer). My buying experience was 99% online, even all of the paperwork. Just had to go in person with my phone to unlock the car where the keys were inside. Then checked for issues, found none and drove off.

Shakurs2pac 2025-03-09 21:19

Delusional lol

ouatedephoque 2025-03-09 23:14

There’s a luxury tax coming into effect April 1st in the UK that will apply to electric cars over 40k£. That’s mostly why there’s a sales surge. If the UK follows the same trend as other European countries Tesla sales will take a plunge after April.

tslewis71 2025-03-09 23:58

But but but Reddit suas sales are failing off the cliff in Australia and the UK

DinoTh3Dinosaur 2025-03-10 14:36

I just picked up a 2022 m3 for $21.5k after federal incentives. Yes I wanna buy the older model it was basically free lol LR, AWD, acc boost, premium interior, literally everything

radome9 2025-03-10 21:39

They have tied their identity to a multinational corporation that does not care about them? Dunno, just guessing.

Temporary-Zebra97 2025-03-10 23:32

Pricing isnt so attractive currently, just picking 1 lease site (lease loco) and using a model of personal lease, 10k miles a year, 2 yr deal. Model 3 - £695.87 BMW i7 eDrive 50 - £637.96 BMW i5 Touring M60 - £514.46 Polestar 4 - £465.06 I know you can get the BMW cheaper by ringing the dealers direct, my wife ordered a i7 for £468 pm. Caveat lease deals all over the place as usual, chase the deal not the model etc e.g. VW ID 7 models currently very cheap like ID Buzz was a couple of months back. #

That’s because if you read the article, it talks about a sales surge in the UK, while highlighting a sales drop in other parts of Europe such as Germany. This makes for a more nuanced understanding of everything.

Wafkak 2025-03-11 19:22

UK it introducing a luxury tax for EVs over 40k from April. So part of this is people trying to avoid that tax.

paganpoetbluelagoon 2025-03-13 06:00

I love my Mini!!!! Only wish is that it was electric and had better mileage!

DinoTh3Dinosaur 2025-03-13 12:40

51k

SomehowMaterialized 2025-03-13 14:35

Gotcha. Mine has a little under half those miles so the prices of both check out. Just wanted to make sure I didn't get stiffed! haha. Congrats on the new car.

DinoTh3Dinosaur 2025-03-13 15:05

Do you have LR AWD and the acc boost and all that too, are we basically twinning

XxjptxX7 2025-03-14 14:23

Sales have increased in the UK but dropped in almost every other country

SailorRick 2025-03-15 13:43

Ha ha, Cathy Wood is redefining what she calls Tesla: "Tesla is an artificial intelligence (AI) company that sells vehicles, energy storage products, and autonomous driving solutions."

Main-Meringue7431 2025-03-15 18:47

UK is the only out of top 10 countries, where Tesla is sold, which showed rise in sales. All others showed between %40-70 drop, including US. This is a good video that breaks down the numbers: https://youtu.be/k9kmK0St9Jg?si=74O9pFcSeo9IIdkv

SomehowMaterialized 2025-03-16 23:33

Yes, all of that. We are basically twinning lol. I got blue with white interior and the 19" sport wheels. If those are also the same then we are seriously twinning.
