I couldnt hear the audio, but good to know!

Dirtypman 2025-01-02 03:48

Reminds of the comment from a movie I used to watch growing up whose name escapes my memory right now. “Pools are really good at holding water”

These_Foolish_Things 2025-01-02 03:51

Well, there you go. A good use for the cybertruck. Bomb disposal.

ndjs22 2025-01-02 04:28

Hot Rod. Pools are perfect for holding water, man.

InactiveJumper 2025-01-02 04:32

EOD guy weighed in… quality of the bomb really. https://x.com/eodhappycaptain/status/1874645629495910533?s=46&t=wkwD7JOK-80Ykw9jBZg4IA

Sounds like someone doesn’t want to piss off the wrong guy/side.

motiv8der 2025-01-02 05:02

Don’t you ever tell me how to live my life again.

MrWheels44 2025-01-02 05:07

Looked more like fireworks, but that cybertruck is a beast.

casmium63 2025-01-02 05:38

Let's see AI redo this commercial with a cybertruck https://youtu.be/WUtE3QlTpKI?si=hsYobkmvcrn_U-Ui

sielingfan 2025-01-02 05:38

Remember that maxim about how everyone time they make something idiot proof. God makes a better idiot? This is like the inverse, where the idiots are getting shoddier to fail against our worse defenses

i_a_m_a_ 2025-01-02 07:36

This is some great advertising for Tesla

pmoran22 2025-01-02 08:31

Kind of? I think a normal car would not have contained it as well as the Cybertruck did simply because the Cyber truck is literally made of hardened aluminium and bulletproof glass. Were the explosives still not enough to cause more death? Possibly. But no denying the cybetruck took way more brunt than a normal car would.

DerpDerper909 2025-01-02 08:58

Tesla bad catch fire, ICE cars good and never catch fire. ![gif](giphy|BBkKEBJkmFbTG)

Fire69 2025-01-02 09:22

Don't worry, they'll turn it into something bad somehow.

Visible_Lack_748 2025-01-02 10:07

Small clarification: The CT exterior is stainless steel and the glass is not bulletproof.

bme11 2025-01-02 10:14

It’s more reddit hates Elon so Tesla is bad.

moxifloxacin 2025-01-02 10:19

Yeah, wasn't it mostly accelerant and fireworks? Not exactly a recipe for a good car bomb.

Any-Plate2018 2025-01-02 10:29

New cybertruck slogan: It doesn't matter if its fireworks, gasoline, kerosine or a family of a 7, in an emergency none of you are getting out of here.

It wasn't about creating a big explosion it was about sending a message.

Cause it was the CyberBeast 😉

twinbee 2025-01-02 14:20

From [Elon](https://x.com/elonmusk/status/1874614362612326761): > The evil knuckleheads picked the wrong vehicle for a terrorist attack. Cybertruck actually contained the explosion and directed the blast upwards. > Not even the glass doors of the lobby were broken.' [And](https://x.com/elonmusk/status/1874579547452269054): > We have now confirmed that the explosion was caused by very large fireworks and/or a bomb carried in the bed of the rented Cybertruck and is unrelated to the vehicle itself. > All vehicle telemetry was positive at the time of the explosion.

Yeah I'm sure the bomb making murderers have a fantastic message to send lol

InactiveJumper 2025-01-02 15:08

No… it was a bad bomb. This is another VBIED expert weighing in. Check out the video of the Tesla sedan blowing up. https://x.com/hkaaman/status/1874775627871691034?s=46&t=wkwD7JOK-80Ykw9jBZg4IA

[deleted] 2025-01-02 15:26

Theres no such thing as "hardened aluminum"

litmus-test 2025-01-02 15:32

“Potentially” lol

TheHalfChubPrince 2025-01-02 15:41

Meanwhile Reddit is absolutely relishing in this terrorist attack since it involved a Tesla.

AgonizingFury 2025-01-02 16:05

I work in automotive tool and die with many metals including steel and aluminum, with the most common of the latter being 6016 T4 aluminum, which is solution heat treated, then age hardened. Aluminum can be hardened through solution hardening, quenching, aging, and work hardening. I have no idea if the aluminum parts used in a CyberTruck are hardened or not, but to say that aluminum can't be hardened is an extraordinarily false statement.

ponyboy3 2025-01-02 16:44

What video?

Briz-TheKiller- 2025-01-02 16:48

CT is a real beast here

ensui67 2025-01-02 18:08

I think there was a myth busters about this. They showed the difference between a Hollywood pyrotechnic explosion and a true explosive like tnt. With the tnt, the car is gone and the metal is shrapnel. This was a Hollywood explosion.

RegulusRemains 2025-01-02 18:23

Hi were calling to inform you that your cars bomb warranty has expired. Act now to renew!

Beefmagigins 2025-01-02 19:53

Put a bomb in any car and it would have "helped contain the explosion".

rideincircles 2025-01-02 20:42

There is a guy who blew up a model S in Finland because he was mad about the price of a battery replacement. That was far more powerful than the cybertruck explosion.

GENDERFLUIDRAHHH 2025-01-02 20:58

Yeah, did they not watch the video after it happened? The entire inside of the truck was a ball of flames💀

Mundane_Engineer_550 2025-01-02 21:06

"DuH ItS a DuMPster" -some sheep idiot somewhere

Mundane_Engineer_550 2025-01-02 21:08

No any other car it would use the parts of the car as projectiles. The steel contained the blast and kept the blast direction going up. Not even the windows on the building in front of valet blew up after detonating . Any other vehicle the shockwave would go outward breaking all the glass and harming more people

InactiveJumper 2025-01-02 21:51

This one(it’s in his thread): https://x.com/hkaaman/status/1472138720556077059?s=46&t=wkwD7JOK-80Ykw9jBZg4IA

Ph15chy 2025-01-02 22:01

Ok, and so what. A truck being able to withstand an internal explosion a little better doesn't make it a better vehicle like people want this news to mean.

aibmuloC4242 2025-01-02 22:19

For real. Looked at the pics of the back of the truck and thought either a dummy tried to make an ied or a dummy had an accident with fireworks. Either way, dealing with a dimwit. Lucky thing really.

Remarkable-Host405 2025-01-02 22:50

sure, 2024 is definitely as hard as 7075

ponyboy3 2025-01-02 23:08

I don’t think these cars are comparable 🤷‍♂️ I meant to say what was done to these cars. I mean one was a professional dynamite rigging and the other was fireworks.

[deleted] 2025-01-02 23:29

lol how ?

DuneProphecy 2025-01-02 23:51

Slavery didn't end by singing kumbaya around a camp fire.

Grasshoppermouse42 2025-01-03 00:43

Terrible communication skills, though. No one knows what the message even was.

Desperate-Review-727 2025-01-03 01:10

Neither did it end by a bomb in a cyber truck

Mr_StoleYourCookies 2025-01-03 04:07

You should see what those tools at r/Rivian are saying of the CT. lol

Guy_PCS 2025-01-03 04:19

Interesting to know who has the liability on the Cybertruck explosion? The driver (Dead), Turo insurance, or Owner insurance?

i_a_m_a_ 2025-01-03 07:26

Listen to what the cop said

DerpDerper909 2025-01-03 07:55

Rivian MFs should be the last one talking about bad sales numbers LMAO

cuniculus69 2025-01-03 12:35

Reminds me of this (fake but well executed) VW commercial from many years ago: [https://youtu.be/WUtE3QlTpKI](https://youtu.be/WUtE3QlTpKI)

[deleted] 2025-01-03 14:59

Damn a person died? Were they in there and the terrorist just blew it up and the driver had zero idea?

Southern_Hyena_3212 2025-01-03 16:38

How dare we judge another person for committing suicide. None of us have walked in Matthew Livelsberger’s shoes. Yes, Matthew's wife recently broke up with him but this isn't why he committed suicide. Matthew returned from a tour in the Middle East suffering from a traumatic brain injury in 2019. Matthew's brain and body and heart were changed forever. Matthew Livelsberger and every dead and suffering soldier is the tragedy of war. We are all too familiar with how the healthcare industry prioritizes profits over lives. Even our soldiers are disposable. We also don't know how many people Matthew killed while serving in the military. Looking through another lens, the U.S. engages in worldwide terr\*rism every day and our soldiers are pawns in this sick war-game of world domination. Perhaps the mrdr of innocents weighed on Matthew heavily and his torture was so internalized he had no way to access his emotions. We expect people to behave according to a stereotype. "Matthew was a big strong man, a soldier, a superhero, without weakness." This is such BS. My heartfelt condolences the Livelsberger family. RIP Matthew Livelsberger.

jakesta13 2025-01-03 23:28

shot himself, I'm gonna assume he used a regular fireworks fuse with a lighter then offed himself as to make sure he wouldn't survive .. wouldn't have been pretty for him otherwise. side note, I'm morbidly curious if both the cameras on the truck recorded the instant and if they kept rolling that would be wild. besides all that, I think I see it more of a really serious cry for help but not for himself.

dotexperiment 2025-01-04 03:36

The difference a day makes...

DerpDerper909 2025-01-04 03:55

Yep. Aged poorly. I admit it lmao

garibaldiknows 2025-01-04 14:41

but rivian had worse sales YoY than Tesla....
