I expect a lot more to sell now.
Question, is the quoted 907/mo for 7500 down plus 7500 dollar (tax credit) leasing incentive? And they just happen to be the same amount? Not really a big fan of downpayments on leases I don't really see the point
I feel like the big selling point of the lease is we don't know how much the cost of cybertruck will diminish in 3 years, or if they will do price cuts next year.
Tough part is when and if it is down for months to get repairs, you get no compensation but get to keep paying.
I think that’s a coincidence. Beware it’s not $907/month. That includes their dumb gas savings so really it’s $999/month plus taxes and fees which in my region makes it $1086/month with $7500 down. Still a no for me atp.
That’s their hope but it won’t happen in any significant number until the price comes down.
Wondering if this will make its way over to Europe. It was on a roadtrip/show throughout Europe and Norway, got to see it in person and oh my that vehicle is insane!!
I saw other tesla vehicles where it said downpayment of $7500 but they paid $0 upfront because they just deducted the tax credit from it? Idk
This explains why they were pushing me so hard to order one last week after I explained I’d only do so if I could lease it.
I’m holding off for my 40k version
Oh wow! $1,000/month to not own something! What a great deal!!!
Do you have the actually pay $7500 down or does the tax credit take care of that at the point of sale on the lease?
Don’t you get a rental?
And when you're done with your 36 month lease you've effectively paid over half the cost of truck.
They can get f#cked with that gas savings. It such a false number to throw out there
Nope!
Most likely not a cybertruck you pay to lease for, but a old 3 or Y
I won’t mind Model X
My PA service center told me they no longer have X or S for loaner anymore. I used to get pre-refreshed X or S before.
Anyone know a loophole for the $7500 tax credit if you exceeded income levels ?
That’s bad. Hopefully they will change chat later
You do understand you need to go through temporary hardship right? It’s necessary for people to struggle and own nothing. — Elon musk
It has already become the 3rd best-selling EV in the US (behind only Model Y and Model 3) at $100k, and they just started selling the $80k version. Sales are very strong so far.
Ya, I would buy one today for like 65k
You’re almost there with the incentive. I’d buy one today if my model 3 breaks but so far it’s ok. Wishful thinking prices will creep down
That’s like saying I’m the fastest runner at a fat farm. There’s no competition for Tesla. Everyone else selling EV trucks are abysmally low volume.
I got a new Plaid S. I’ll remember that day for a long time
And yet I've seen so many people claim that Cybertruck will be a failure compared to other EV trucks like the F-150 Lightning and Rivian R1T. Meanwhile, it's outselling both of them combined, and not only outselling all the other EV trucks from other companies, but literally outselling every single EV from every other company. While still being $100k. That's very impressive.
i don't understand why people try to justify it, too. 1. my monthly payment to the bank is still exactly what it is. i owe tesla exactly what we agreed to. 2. some of us haven't been paying for gas for years- i'm not now saving anything at this point. haven't filled up my car in 5 years.
does it qualify for the tax credit? i don't see the option on there and the non-lease option doesn't qualify for it (I don't consider the commercial credit because i'm a regular person buying for personal).
does tesla let you buy out the lease now? used to have to turn into tesla. edit: still do >ll Tesla vehicles delivered on or after April 15, 2022 are not eligible for purchase. [link](https://www.tesla.com/support/leasing/lease-end-options)
It said so in the email I got, regarding leasing
explain?
thank you for your service
oh i see. i didn't get an email. i don't see anything regarding leasing/tax credit on tesla website. wish the cybertruck would just quality for regular purchasing.
Sorry must have had a stroke, edited for clarity I blame autocorrect with this quadlingual keyboard
oh lol. wish i could help you there. if i was making that much i would just get the cybertruck at that point lol.
I’m not getting one. I just got a new model 3. 🤣
It is. The cybertruck is definitely going to be successful. It won’t have any trouble against other brands because Tesla crushes everyone in profit margin and scaling production. The problem is that without a price reduction they won’t be able to move the amount of vehicles they’re going to produce as production ramps. We know what the market is for the $80k-$100k segment. Look at S and X volume and other EV truck volume which is in that same segment. If they want to sell 150k-250k/yr they need to offer it at a price point that will sustain those numbers. $80k won’t. The reservation list is proof that the demand is there, just not at this price.
I agree with that. It's currently priced to sell at its current production level, which is roughly 60k units annualized (maybe a little more). To get to the 125k mark that they have production capacity for and maybe eventually the 250k mark that they might expand to, they will almost certainly need a lower entry price than $80k. How low? I'm not sure. Can they get the cost of manufacturing a Cybertruck low enough to enable such a price? I'm not sure.
I don't believe Cybertruck qualifies for the tax credit right now, could be wrong though.
In 3 years, Cybertruck is going to be worth less than half most likely. I would not buy any EV right now, they depreciate faster than ICE vehicles now.
lol
It does as long as you don’t add the more expensive wheels
I'm wondering if they're trying to drag it out long enough for the [dry cathode battery](https://www.techspot.com/news/104119-tesla-rolls-out-first-ever-cybertruck-dry-cathode.html) to go into production. That could theoretically be the cost savings they need.

So are second hand EVs good value then?
Wait until you learn what apartments rent at..
If I'm **forced** to buy a $100k car, I'm going to pay $1k/mo for predictable cash flow, and grow the $100k nut using appreciating/income-generating assets instead of throwing it all on something that drops like a stone.
It doesn’t qualify for purchase because it’s too expensive. It qualifies for leasing though because there’s a loophole in the law that if the car is leased, technically a company is the owner and not the person. And company’s have an unlimited purchase price for EVs to get the credit. So car makers can included the discount in leases if you don’t otherwise qualify.
Have CT. Get model X every time I have service. Also, parts don't take much time. I needed windshield replacement. Took 1 day. On the other hand, yet to get my wheel covers.
Everyone gets it for leases because they’re legally “fleet” vehicles, so only Tesla has to qualify not you as an individual.
Give me 0% financing before the end of the year and I’ll order a cybertruck.
There will almost definitely be price cuts next year.
We don't need other huge pickups here, the few around are already destroying our cities... We need compact affordable cars.
Which for Tesla seems less than 100km... 99k on my odometer and the back door handle is losing all the chrome finish 🤦
Yep.. my model 3 purchase has been an horrible financial plan... Next time lease and money on stocks...
[deleted]
Same here, had it for almost 8 years, almost 80k miles with only air filter and tire changes… drives better than when I bought thanks to over the air updates hoping to keep driving it until it hits 500k miles
Yep, I think they are not made for cold and rain weather... My 2019 has been made under a tent, it drives great but you can clearly see the age showing up... I had to throw away my BMW after 15y because the engine gave up but esthetically it was like new (except few paint chips of course)
Yep, you can even get a Porsche Taycan for a good deal on the used market.
That really depends on where you live. It's obviously way too big to fit in the cities but there are a lot of places especially in Norway where it would fit perfectly!
its the same price as a model x and qualifies.
I’m happy I didn’t buy my standard model 3 in 2022 I leased it / I just renewed my lease last month n it’s legit 200 dollars cheaper and long range - now if cyber trucks were avaiblibe for lease I would have thought about it but I also assume cost may go down and I can just wait 2 years and maybe it will be less than 900 to lease ! I’m not comfortable buying EVs yet with the way the pricing has been
That’s the real question. In theory it should be $0 down since the credit covers the down payment.
I thought it's also based on weight class?
I wonder why they provided the option of the range extender and FSD if it's only a lease. That doesn't make sense - I mean, I guess if you have money to burn because I do not think you can keep the range extender.
We live in Alaska and ours still looks like a brand new model Y - well...until the refresh then you would be able to tell the difference.
> I would not buy any EV right now, they depreciate faster than ICE vehicles now. I wouldn't buy *any* new car and treat it as an investment.
that's 1249 plus tax with nothing down, not including fees and taxes. my advice is to wait. they will have to come down. when it gets to about 1% of msrp all in, you've got a good deal on your hands.
cybertruck is the lightest EV truck, yeah? or at least comparable, without me looking it up. the lightning gets the full credit; rivian gets partial. those are the two i spot checked for the credit. i question this qualification: >Have a battery capacity of at least 7 kilowatt hours https://fueleconomy.gov/feg/tax2023.shtml
Wait until they learn that cars depreciate
Waiting until the $7500 credit comes to play for consumers. I feel like there will eventually be price cuts too. Coming soon…
Sorry was thinking about cyberbeast
Very expensive toy.
Right!!
Is that the trick ?
How about Tesla stops doing this as soon as legacy companies like Hyundai stop advertising fake AF EV leasing deals that no dealership will ever honor, in order to get butts in ICE car seats.
Buy things that appreciate, rent things that depreciate. Don’t know how much less they’ll cost in 3 years or what the rapidly advancing EV tech has in store for us.
A lot of people renting their CT. When leasing you can’t rent or do turo right ?
“Rent assets that depreciate” doesn’t mean acquire the asset and then rent it to others, it means you yourself should rent the asset. For a car, that would be a lease.
Tesla qualifies for the tax credit for the cybertruck when it leases it to consumers. someone else mentioned this below. Thus it’s already baked into the current lease pricing
loophole makes sense
What’s it have to be under 80k? Isn’t there a credit for used too?
No I meant , it is an appreciating asset if you can rent it via turo. Then as a related topic, I was also wondering if leasing prohibits it
Two wrongs don’t make it right
Only when you're reasonably certain it will depreciate more than your rent costs and don't mind renting forever.
I mean demand seems to have dropped off a cliff after reservations did it not? You can order ones to get within days now. They opened leasing up in record time. Where's the proof of demand?
A million people reserved a $50k truck. Cut the price and many of us will follow through on our reservations. Even at $60k I’d take delivery today. $80k-$100k is an entirely different market though. The monthly payment would be more than my mortgage lol.
finally, now were talkin
