Seems easy to DIY install if you like that kind of thing.

BlackReddition 2024-09-20 11:12

A bit late, the Chinese have had them out for years. How about shipping them with them next time.

short_bus_genius 2024-09-20 11:23

I know you can buy puddle lights from many sources. Abstract Ocean as one example. But I have yet to see an aftermarket light that has just the Tesla word mark, like this. Usually, the lights have the T logo, not the word mark. I could be wrong, maybe some one sells this exact one now?

short_bus_genius 2024-09-20 11:26

Hah…. I’m totally wrong. Abstract ocean does sell one with just the word mark: https://abstractocean.com/products/mega-bright-led-premium-puddle-lights-pair

AJHenderson 2024-09-20 11:32

Anyone know how the brightness compares to the non projection puddle light. I like the idea of this but wonder if it will be darker getting into the car at night.

ruSRious 2024-09-20 11:51

Something to think about. Some of the aftermarket ones can interfere with the door electronics, specifically messing up the window up/down when you open the door. I’ve read at least 3 accounts where Tesla denied warranty claim because of the aftermarket lights.

Immacu1ate 2024-09-20 12:45

These are so corny.

MisterBumpingston 2024-09-20 12:50

It’s the cheaper early generation lights. I think aftermarket (AliExpress) are up your V4 now with lower consuming LED.

McRedditz 2024-09-20 12:58

If Tesla doesn't mind. I prefer they add HUD, front camera, and a retractable sunroof shade over some aesthetic stuff. Some of these features are pretty much standard in the Asia market.

lowspeed 2024-09-20 13:08

Same. Exactly what's missing. And leave the stalks.

jonnygozy 2024-09-20 13:20

I had issues on my 2022 Y with the window going back down an inch or so after closing the door. I don’t have aftermarket puddle lights, just the ones it came with. Took mobile service tries with calibrating the window and stuff before they decided to replace the puddle lights, and haven’t had the problem since.

Stromberg-Carlson 2024-09-20 13:26

ive got illuminated door kick plates and always wanted the puddle lights but opted out because of this very issue. i purchased 2 sets ( front and back) of these lights form tesla as i ASSume they have made these more robust and interference free vs the generic ones we've seen for years...

LinuxBroDrinksAlone 2024-09-20 13:34

The stock ones can do the same thing. I just replaced mine last week after ruining my wrap by closing the door into the frame.

SpaceBenzCoupe 2024-09-20 13:55

Yes it’s gonna be darker

aBetterAlmore 2024-09-20 14:08

Agreed, these are the kind of things European carmakers like BMW do that is just tacky. Hopefully Tesla doesn’t start doing even more things like them.

Immacu1ate 2024-09-20 14:11

I’d take just a light, but the logo is cheesy.

Gamerxx13 2024-09-20 14:12

I buy these on Amazon for like 10 bucks for all 4. Super easy to install yourself too

poppypunky 2024-09-20 14:29

These are way cheaper to import from the Tesla shop in china. Got a set for all 4 doors for around $70. Seems like Tesla is charging that much just for 2 doors

neobow2 2024-09-20 15:14

I had same issues with Y the first month after delivery. I guess that answers why that happened

peacenchemicals 2024-09-20 15:14

THANK YOU these are super corny

realkamikaze 2024-09-20 15:20

So the stuff I read before about the puddle light causing the window to not open or close properly was a lie?

compywiz 2024-09-20 15:29

Yeah this is an insane price, especially just for 2.

Dstrongest 2024-09-20 15:32

That’s badass, I love that on my Lexus !

szzzn 2024-09-20 15:32

Just give me the LED strip for my Model Y that they have in China and I’ll be happy.

szzzn 2024-09-20 15:33

Link?

Gamerxx13 2024-09-20 15:43

Just search puddle lights on Amazon for Tesla they are all the same. Honestly it’s the same as most cars, did the same as my Audi as well

Gamerxx13 2024-09-20 15:44

Ya just buy it on Amazon. It’s cheaper and looks just as good. It’s very easy to install

minwulang 2024-09-20 15:49

What lol

poundnumber2 2024-09-20 16:38

This is an aftermarket option in the Tesla store, not something the vehicle comes with, as I understand it.

CaptainSheepFskcer 2024-09-20 16:52

My today’s order got cancelled in the course of the day. Anyone else?

colinstalter 2024-09-20 17:00

No front camera is inexcusable with the removal of sensors. Same for 360 cams. HUD would be a nice touch for a premium trim.

mchinsky 2024-09-20 17:28

Cool!

ApprehensiveHeart945 2024-09-20 18:03

Aftermarket for the win, you can choose logo or letters, color and much cheaper for four.

TAFL-91 2024-09-20 18:17

But not for Model S/X. Come on Tesla 😅

Immacu1ate 2024-09-20 20:17

I’ve grown to notice that people who think these are nice are usually car obsessed. To each their own - but I find these hilariously trashy. Next to underglo and big spoilers on slow cars.

greatauror28 2024-09-20 20:33

Bought mine from Amazon more than a year ago and still zero issues. Only caveat is that when all doors are open they dim a bit so they’re like only 90% illuminated. I wonder if Tesla-brand ones are the same.

greatauror28 2024-09-20 20:35

Probably. Mine’s more than a year already and still zero issues with windows losing power or automatically going up/down. They’re like the Sasquatch. Many claims to have seen but no personal experience.

Futfutfutfreestylo 2024-09-20 21:00

What is this for ? That seems to be one of the most useless upgrade ever.

Bright-Perception-47 2024-09-20 21:12

And this is from Tesla brand?

judge2020 2024-09-20 21:17

Until they start feeling a squeeze on orders none of it is happening. People are paying for the cars as they are, and its so much cheaper for Tesla to pull some demand levers like APR offers and lease deals than it is to pay for more designers to stay competitive on features.

edwardrha 2024-09-20 21:43

Also, I would prefer if they stop bricking my aftermarket HUD by changing the data format. At first I only lost the seatbelt indicator on the HUD. This year, I lost the battery percentage indicator. I'm afraid they'll be coming after my speed display soon. Also, bring back the stalks too please... Won't buy a new one until they do.

edwardrha 2024-09-20 21:49

I bought a set before. Didn't like the fact that parts of the logo was out of focus. Hopefully the official Tesla ones are all in focus and that may end up making it worth it for some people.

Jaywhatthehell 2024-09-20 22:06

My driver's side window controls went wonky after leaving the windows vented during a storm. After they dried out everything except the one pull up on the driver's window worked. I had to hold the button until then window was all the way up… A couple of months later I relit every interior light, trunk doors, footwells and frunk with inexpensive blue led’s from Amazon. It looks great.… and my window started working properly again! 🤔

Anything will help

Gamerxx13 2024-09-20 22:51

There’s like 100s on Amazon. Maybe bad luck. Mine were perfect so to each their own. Cheaper alternative but you need to be careful

szzzn 2024-09-20 23:07

Yes

JtheNinja 2024-09-20 23:18

This: https://shop.tesla.cn/product/model-y-ip-deco-wing-package Gray fabric dash + ambient lights, LEDs hook into the same menu as on Highland 3 and Cybertruck. Chinese-spec Model Ys come stock with this now, but they offer it as a retrofit for Ys that don’t have it after a certain build date (likely requires Ryzen MCU to plug in to) If they offered it for my 2023 Model 3, I’d order it instantly.

CillGuy 2024-09-20 23:39

Just don't get it.

Kryptyx 2024-09-20 23:45

Who tf puts AliExpress parts on a $40-50k EV?

No-Security-7321 2024-09-21 00:40

I co-sign this 👆

phokingreat 2024-09-21 03:50

A lot of ppl

aBetterAlmore 2024-09-21 05:42

I’m not. And while I’m not buying them, I also like to point out how tacky they are.  If that upsets you, just don’t comment.

LordThurmanMerman 2024-09-21 06:44

Tacky

MisterBumpingston 2024-09-21 10:39

A lot. Many are OEM quality and for 1/4 of OEM price. I wouldn’t be surprised if this one is basically from the same manufacturer that sells direct on AliExpress. Tesla have been selling the exact same things, just like the new Model Y mattress, which has been around for years with the same design.

CillGuy 2024-09-22 18:04

"Hopefully Tesla doesn’t start doing even more things like them." That's not you just thinking they're tacky.

casino_r0yale 2024-09-22 23:52

40-50k EV == 20-30k ICE. You need to keep this price range in mind.

staycalmandcode 2024-09-23 01:36

Why would you need HUD or front camera if we have FSD /s.

Mundane-Tennis2885 2024-09-24 02:56

Even if you don't use aliexpress but go to amazon instead 9/10 of the products on there people buy for their cars are just from aliexpress.. I bought a tire inflator. Actually works very well. Had great marketing, paid $50. Got curious afterwards so used Google lens and found the exact same one minus the marketing for $20 on aliexpress. Lol..

JoeS830 2024-09-26 21:37

Yup, just did it. The modules are a little bigger than the stock lights, so it took some wiggling and force to get them in. I also didn’t quite understand that the connector has some springy thingy that needs to be pushed in to unhook the cable. Shown on the install video, but not explained. Anyway, managed to get it installed without breaking any cables. The end result looks pretty nice, if a bit nerdy. :)

Even-Efficiency-4366 2024-09-28 18:27

My dad was searching for 500$ wraps on aliexpress for his brand new cyberbeast. Don’t underestimate his cheapness.

jtmonkey 2024-09-29 15:47

I know that’s what they cost new but you’ve got to think their resale value a year later is half that. Accounting for inflation they are this generations Honda accord.

Groundbreaking_Two41 2024-10-14 18:34

Hi, I'm thinking of getting the aftermarket version too but having second thoughts after seeing all the posts regarding them messing with the window sensor. Did you have any issues so far?

ApprehensiveHeart945 2024-10-14 18:42

Have a 2022 LR and installed shortly afterwards with no issues. It's just a light, not sure how it would impact anything.

MarkRosssi 2024-12-01 15:33

havent gotten mine yet, what do you mean no front camera, as in no camera in the bumper so you can see if you are going to hit a curb?

colinstalter 2024-12-02 02:16

Correct. They removed the front ultrasonic sensors and did not add a camera in its place. So there is no camera in the front. Except on cybertruck.

MarkRosssi 2024-12-02 02:34

that is super lame, especially when it costs next to nothing to put it. its such a useful camera to have, i use the one in my mach-e all the time. that explains why it was a black box for frront camera on one of the videos i saw.

colinstalter 2024-12-02 18:26

Yup. They pulled the ultrasonics and radar during the supply chain shortage and acted like it was to the customer's benefit. *Then* they acted like the camera on the top of the windshield would work (when it literally cannot see in front of the car) by "remembering" what it saw in front of the car before the car pulled forward. I'll let you guess how well that works. And *then* add on top that side cameras (repeater and pillar cam) leave a large blind spot that will ALWAYS limit how well it can self-drive at low speeds in crowded places like parking lots. Just last week someone posted that their Model 3 ran into a light pole in a parking lot during Summon. Why did that happen? Because the cameras couldn't see it and it doesn't have ultrasonics to tell the car something is there. I like my Tesla more than any car I've ever driven, but there are some bone-headed moves that just make zero sense to me.

MarkRosssi 2024-12-02 19:46

man that totally sucks. i guess chalk that up in the column for my friend who tried to convince me to find a used performance m3 with FSD. I did try but couldnt find any with FSD. One i found didnt have a heated steering wheel which is a deal breaker for me in my colder climate. I would imagine they will eventually add it back, odd they didnt add it back to the 2024 refresh of the m3 since the supply chain shortages are over. I def am going to run into things without the sensor, I have become so used to having it in my other cars.
