Yes. My new mxp had 15mi exactly when I picked it up.

Yes. It’s normal.

Most new cars are that way, from any manufacturer. Pretty certain it’s a legal thing that all the safety testing and miles from driving around the manufacture plant count as legal miles on the odometer.

Yep. I’ve bought three new ones and they’ve all had 10-20 miles on them.

LightxDarkness93 2026-03-13 20:34

yes

rwhe83 2026-03-13 20:35

Yep.

Yes, could be from the factory. Could be a car that got a test drive, who really knows.

Adorable_Cherry_2722 2026-03-13 20:38

Ours said 15. Had 4 actual miles.

My M3P also said 15 miles in the app but when I picked it up, it had 5 miles on it.

Teslas, like many other car manufacturers, are driven from the factory to the storage or overflow lot which can be 10-15 miles away. Very common. I've seen Teslas that actually use FSD to drive themselves to the overflow lot. Pretty cool.

My paperwork listed 15miles but it had 8miles when I picked it up. My previous car a 06 Civic Si had 4 miles

Picked up new Model 3 performance last month. Listed at 15 miles on paperwork. Had 5 miles when I drove off with it.

Here's the real question. Does it say 15 mi on the odometer or just on the paperwork? Because my paperwork said 15 mi but the odometer read 3 miles

ontheleftcoast 2026-03-13 20:54

Yes, its normal. There are miles added when the drive it off the assembly line to where ever its stored, and then if someone did a test drive before you did it will add more miles. I wouldn't be surprised to see several hundred miles on a car that's be test driven several times.

Most manufacturers say they'll keep it below something like 300 miles before they mark it as anything other than "new".

I had a friend who worked at BMW in SC and his job was to drive brand new cars from the line to the loading area. He had a LOT of say when found out Tesla had completely automated what he felt was the world's best job of driving brand new BMWs every day.

Visible-Pay1181 2026-03-13 21:07

Yes I had 20 on mine. They usually do a few test drives with it to make sure it has no issues and also moving it from lot to lot until you pick up the car.

No take it back and charge them extra if any dust touched the paint

15mi is their standard mileage disclosure when purchasing new. I've bought two Teslas so far, one in late 2021 (odometer disclosure said 15, showed up at my house with 12 actual), and just bought one earlier this month in 2026 and it also had 15mi written on all the paperwork and disclosures but when I got in at the delivery center, there were only 3 miles on the odometer.

no

StormTrpr66 2026-03-13 22:31

Same as others have noted, mine had exactly 15 miles on it when I picked it up.
