For those that don’t know what this means, there’s a $5k incentive if the vehicle is under $50k CAD. https://preview.redd.it/gqqzdy82tpog1.jpeg?width=1206&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e98027b43a3652df5ab733e79ed83caf26be280d

Wowza they did it. Now let's see if they lower their MY Premium price to compete with standard.

Yeah the price gap is pretty huge. You do lose a lot of features but a lot of them are features I don't really care about. (Rear screen, power fold rear seats, ambient lighting) For me it almost makes it a no brainer.  If they could possibly reduce the price of the premium by 5k then it's a lot more compelling.

The main thing that bother me about the standard is the cheap frunk and the 7.2s 0-100 lol if the standard was like 5.8 or 6 and had a waterproof front trunk it would be more appealing. The rest I can live without.

I don't understand why everyone is freaking out about the frunk. Most people hardly use it in the premium. If it had an auto open/close I'd more understand but as it is now I don't see myself using it often. I'm certain someone will make an aftermarket seal or something anyway. I don't know if it's possible but you might even be able to find a salvage premium and swap out the liner? Again, don't know if it's possible. Yeah, it's much much slower. Still faster then a lot of family SUV's though.

Would having only one drive unit affect the heat pump performance on the coldest days?

I think its thats its a 50k car and water can easily get it. It's a bit concerning given there's electronic pieces beneath. In a torrential downpour that can't be good for your car.

I mean, neither are sealed from the bottom. You are going to get a hell of a lot more water spraying the electronics from road spray driving down the road in either model, compared to how much leaks in the standard. It's literally nothing to be concerned about.

The water comes from beneath and both are the same in that regard. If you frequently use the frunk for things you need to keep clean, it's an issue, but if you just put cables, tools or emergency kit, etc, it's a non issue.

Meh to each their own. I may still get a Standard because I still think its decent deal but I don't think they should have cheaped out on the frunk.

I think that's a pretty good place to cut, but I'd be storing cables, a collapsible shovel and a snow brush. It just depends on what you're using it for.
