Thinking in getting a Model 3?

So I drive a 2020 Chevy bolt I’m close to finishing it off and got a trade in value for around $10k. That being said I want to maybe get a model 3 due to size, better range and faster charging speeds. I do want a used and no older than a 2022. My question is when it comes to teslas or even EVs in general do you still care about the mileage? Since it technically has no engine. So for example should I still be considering models 3 with over 70k miles? why or why not? I’m finding plenty of model 3s for under $25k.

For the LR models the battery warranty is 8 years 120k miles. So that is probably the biggest factor to consider. Otherwise the batteries tend to degrade with just age (plus a little more with lots of miles/regular supercharging). So a 2018 with 150k miles might be down to say 75% health (meaning 25% degradation), while a 2023 might be at 88% SOH. Things still can go wrong with Teslas. But generally they are pretty reliable. Just when they are out of warranty need to find a somewhat close enough EV friendly shop that can work on them! Tesla Service Centers are not cheap!

The rule I follow i is get the newest car, with the lowest miles and the longest warranty as I can. So you are thinking properly. Right now, 2023 models are in a sweet spot. Especially late 2023s. My new M3 is from December 2023, had 7800 miles on it, and has the new LVP battery. It is practically new. And it was $26700. Because of Tesla’s resale program, I got it under full warranty until dec 2029 and full battery coverage until dec 2031. To me if I make a payment it precludes also paying for repairs. A low model means I don’t have an immediate tire replacement cost. So no, 70,000 miles in three years is too much. Especially if you are going to finance. It probably won’t happen that the battery will die at 120,001 miles. But if it did, and you are still 3 years of payments left, you will be on the hook for that cost yourself.
