2018 Model 3 your opinion?

Assumption-Straight | 2026-03-09 18:29 | 11 views

\*Disclosure, this would be my first Tesla. Currently looking at a 2018 Model. 3 for $15,995 with 75k miles. Is this a good deal? Of course it seems appealing to me, decent mileage and a price I can’t justify dropping much further. I suppose my only question is how would I find out if the batteries been replaced or heath in general of it? Noob question. Thank you!

Ask the seller. Tesla won't divulge the service history of a used car. It is still under the battery warranty until this year and 3rd party warranties do exist.

The problem with any older Tesla is the concern about battery. If you can’t afford a new battery, you can’t afford the car.

There's such things as used batteries, if yours goes out. They're reliable. You can check battery health in the app

Price is wayyyy too high for a 2018 with 75k miles. 2018 was also the first model year, which generally had more issues.

Great to know, thank you. That and 2019 I’m seeing are similar finds. Didn’t know if there were any difference up til the refresh

2021 got a heat pump and black trim, and some minor interior updates. But 2018-2020 pretty similar for the most part.

Too much money. Also, you really can’t guess how long the battery pack will last. The pack is more than just the batteries, and when anything breaks in it, they don’t go locate the part that failed, they swap in a refurb pack. So you have to look at any EV, really, like you don’t own the battery, you own the battery warranty. After the warranty goes, it could last for 10 years, or a loose wire could send it in to become someone else’s refurb next week. Try for something later or for low enough in price that you can shell out for replacing the battery pack or a motor if needed.
