Just picked up a brand new Model 3 last week and auto steer just appeared.

Is anyone else seeing this? Update: I think I see what happened, I found the window sticker in the trunk. The car was built in January and the window sticker does mention autopilot. I think they enabled it afterward with the rebrand of auto steer. I didn’t think to look at the manufactured date.

Forko 2026-03-09 15:55

Are you saying when you picked up the vehicle last week, it didn't have Autosteer (and it's not listed in your vehicle's configuration), but the function appeared today all of a sudden? When did you order the vehicle?

Full_Tap_4144 2026-03-09 16:09

What software version?

Forko 2026-03-09 16:10

Yeah, I ordered it Feb 27th and didn’t see the option before.

Forko 2026-03-09 16:29

2026.2.3

lazybandit94 2026-03-09 16:29

Fsd trial maybe?

Master-Journalist888 2026-03-09 16:29

Do you have FSD trial enabled?

Forko 2026-03-09 16:33

Yes, currently using the trial.

HeronOrganic3727 2026-03-09 16:38

I think that’s why. If you have FSD you also get the autosteer option. I think if you let the trial expire, you’ll lose the autosteer with it

Master-Journalist888 2026-03-09 16:49

That is what is going on. Will go away after trial ends unless you subscribe

Forko 2026-03-09 17:32

Bummer! Thanks for the info.

StormTrpr66 2026-03-09 17:53

This is not accurate. I have FSD and there is no autosteer option available. Ordered mine in mid February and picked it up Feb. 27th. It did not have Autosteer when I picked it up and it doesn't have it now. I got a 3-month FSD trial so maybe after the trial is up Autosteer will show up? I will be subscribing to FSD anyway but so far no Autosteer...

zaneakins7 2026-03-09 17:55

I don’t think this is the case. I have the FSD trial enabled but no Autosteer option. I’ve seen a couple posts from people who own 2026 model 3s and Ys that have seen Autosteer pop up after the most recent update (the one that renamed autopilot to Autosteer). Who knows if this was intentional on Tesla’s part, but it seems this update is giving Autosteer back to those of us who bought when it was no longer part of the package.

livingwithrage 2026-03-09 18:27

People who bought the car with autosteer will NOT lose it, correct? I'm subbed to FSD, just making sure if I cancel, if autosteer will be removed or not.

Master-Journalist888 2026-03-09 18:50

It would be awesome, hope you are right and I'm wrong

DaSandman78 2026-03-09 18:52

You get what you paid for, they cant remove it.

VIDGuide 2026-03-09 20:39

What a terrible decision this was

Sfkn123 2026-03-09 21:00

My autosteer option came in after my FSD trial expired. I'll be re-upping my sub in a few weeks for a trip and will see what happens then

Full_Tap_4144 2026-03-10 00:40

I took deliver of my new Tesla last week and it had 2026.2.100 with FSD 14.2.2.5. Haven't had my first SW update yet.

VIDGuide 2026-03-10 02:10

Really? Downvotes for not liking the removal of autopilot?

PIRANHASQUIRREL 2026-03-11 00:40

I mean, I paid for a car with the option to buy FSD outright, they cancelled that. It seems unclear to me
