Hood Sensor Malfunction

This is just going to be me complaining, I have at 2025 Model Y and I love my Tesla. People complain that FSD sucks it’s worked great for me besides a few minor mistakes. BUT today the funk hood sensor malfunctioned and thought it was open. It happened overnight and now it won’t let me drive over 15mph even though it is closed. And yea I rebooted I called and did all the troubleshooting steps and it’s going in for service. THIS IS SO F’ING annoying that I can’t just acknowledge it leaving Tesla with no liability if I crash and let me drive. What if it’s a malfunction like mine and now I can’t drive home or to a service center? AND this is the first time I’ve taken it on a longer trip so I’m in the middle of no where hotel where I have to now tow it super far and get a rental car and head home such a headache and I’m so pissed That’s all just complaining and thinking about selling it but probably not because I’ve loved it up until now

You're going to sell the car for a hood sensor malfunction? The same thing happened to me and I got it fixed for free. They can't to my house t less than 24 hrs of it happening.

Have you tried opening and closing the frunk?

No I’m just pissed because it happened when I’m in the middle of nowhere and I have to have it towed and get a rental car. They said they would fix it for free and pay for the tow

No I never thought of that 🙃

Well you don’t say you had tried it. You specially mentioned rebooting the car so I assume you would have mentioned if you had tried to open and close the frunk

I also drive 15 mph to the nearest hardware store and put wd40 in there but that didn’t work either

Have you checked service mode for errors?

When it happened to me it didn't limit my speed though.

Same thing happened to me in December. Overnight I came out to my car and it stated that the Frunk was open even though it wasn’t. It wouldn’t let me drive over 15 miles an hour, but there is a trick that if you get your car up to 15 mph and then manually go into neutral and can get back into drive while maintaining 15 mph or faster (downhill stretches are friends) then you are able to shift back into drive and go above the 15 mph limit. It’s a pain because the beeping alert constantly goes off and anytime you go under 15 mph you have to do it again. So traffic, stop signs, and traffic lights cause additional delays. I didn’t always get it to go the first attempt so I had to retry several times, while traffic behind me was probably wondering why I was driving so slow. I used the manual touch buttons above the console to go from Drive to Neutral and back to Drive. It sucked, but it was better than driving 15 mph. (Fortunately I found a YouTube video describing this trick). I had to drive almost 50 miles to a Tesla dealership. They took it in right away and found that some rodents were chewing on the cables and had to be replaced (the cables, not the rodents). Cost about $250 to get repaired and now I am worried about rodents getting into my tasty Tesla again. I wish you luck and hopefully it’s an easy fix for the Tesla team to get it corrected.
