I mean if you don’t want to wait and there’s no other issues. As long as the dent is fixed why not?

I worked at a Volvo dealer years ago. Vehicles being transported, combined with pulling cars on an off of trucks often result in minor dings and dents. Every dealership either fixes those before you see it, or like in this case, after you do.
A "half pinky size" dent does not make this a used demo.
Do what you wish, just wanted to state, this is not uncommon.

Our delivery had the tiniest tiniest paint chip on one of the doors and I felt like such an ahole for pointing it out and being disappointed about it- but it’s a lot of money and it’s a brand new car!!! They offered for us to wait and take a different vin in a week or so but that felt like an eternity to us so we took delivery. We agreed to have them do a bit of touch up paint on the day, and then put a note in the file to have it properly fixed in the future for free. I thought I would notice the spot every day but I’ll tell ya, I’ve never even thought about it. We likely won’t even have the other paint job done. But you have to decide what is right for you in your heart!!

Exactly, only thing that is slightly uncommon is the customer noticing it and no repair before delivery. I would comfortably take the car.

I lease my cars so I don’t keep them more than 3 years so it wouldn’t bother me but if I’m buying with the intention to keep for a long time or move it to a family member later on I’d be a bit more concerned about the longevity of the repair.

“Brand new cars” go to the body shop for repairs ALL THE TIME without you ever knowing it. This could not possibly be more of a non-issue.

If you watch the EV Auto guy his dealership fix new and old cars all the time. He just issues the buyer a Promise to fix.

Yeah, take it. If the paint is a match, then that area likely has thicker paint than the rest of the car.
You could always ask for a markdown, If they drop the price $1000 for a referral, they likely can do $500. And that will buy a few pizzas and beer.

If they fixed it before, you wouldn't even know...
Very big percentage of cars have transport related minor issues.

Every car Tesla deliver has a problem. It could be a a dent, trim etc… They do fix them always.

The amount of body work dings and scratches I use to fix coming off the production line of a certain van manufacturer, nothings new new

I don't mind the fix but I would not like having some sort of repair record on the Carfax hurting potential resale value.
I wonder if the fix is done before it is sold, it does not appear on the database?

If it’s fixed and looks perfect there is no reason to not take it. I work at a dealership and vehicles have transport damage and lot damage all the time. Some pretty significant damage. It gets fixed and sold as any new car. As these do not go through insurance there is no record or carfax report that will ever show.

Yaaaa .. I do believe unfortunately the Tesla community is exaggerated lot of this stuff... Not because of their direct judgment...but pulling so many videos out there...
Anyway, the OP would realize all brands do that stuff and it is normal, of course, as you said, if it well fixed without a thing...

It’s no different than if you took delivery and had to fix some panel gaps but i wouldn’t consider this used.

I had to take delivery in pouring rain outside at a “make believe” Tesla dealership in Savannah GA, 4 hours away from me (no SC dealerships due to state law). I drove the car straight to a shop near my home to have PPF applied after paint correction. Guy there pointed out several small “bubbles” in the paint on the hood. they were probably each about what you describe in size, BUT he also pointed out that they had been “repaired” (sort of) at the factory because they were under the clear coat. His interpretation was they passed QC for Tesla and they likely would refuse to fix them any further even if I drove the 4 hours back to the dealership. I think in your case, I would let them fix it and take the car. This guy’s comment to me was that “I have never seen a new Tesla that didn’t have some paint issues”.

Just make sure it’s not on the carfax and you’re good. I’d assume they paid out of pocket and don’t report it

Get another replacement. We had a same issue with recent purchase but different brand. My wife told the dealer that it’s weird that her new car had to go through fixing dent before delivery. No way. They gave her a different car.

Not only do cars get fixed by dealers before customers get them. Cars also get fixed at the assembly plants where they are built(I used to work at an assembly plant). I accepted my model y knowing they would fix the paint issue it had(bubbles on the tip of the hood). Got to drive a loaner S for a few weeks(I guess the body shop was busy). Pic of the paint issue:
