Buying used Tesla from private party and service recommended to do Pre-Purchase Inspection (PPI) at a Tesla Service Center

Does anyone have any example what this Pre-Purchase Inspection (PPI) at a Tesla Service Center look like and how does it help me as a buyer?

Technically a PPI is advised on any used car purchase for peace of mind. If the car is under warranty (factory) then I don’t typically do it as I know everything will be fixed. Sometimes it’s good to know how a car has been treated but if it’s new or still covered then I typically let it ride. Some dealers like Carvana or Carmax allow you 7 days so a PPI is a must. Private party is always as-is so it’s worth it for a few hundred bucks if you have questions as to its condition. If it’s out of warranty then 100% get it done as you just never know!

It will also ensure that existing damage will or won't be covered by warranty (especially undercarriage/battery cover)

Yea but theres zero chance of you getting any type of Tesla service in a 7 day window

I agree but it’s the same with most dealers, you kind of need to get the timing right. If you aren’t buying from a dealer with a return policy then you have to get the PPI first. Nobody says you have to go to Tesla for it, I would prefer it and I bring my cars to the branded dealers for PPI but it’s always a hassle scheduling it. Best case you buy a car with warranty then there isn’t much risk. Or go Carmax or Carvana with the extended plans which are decent, I am a big fan of Carmax’s Maxcare.

Yea for sure . It almost doesn’t make sense to buy used elsewhere . The Tesla pricing is good and better warranty . Not as convenient . Not as many options always . But you’re not saving big bucks at a dealer . There’s always fees and if it’s cheap there’s a reason imo.
