Tesla changed fsd transfer from order by 3/31 to deliver by 3/31 and won’t let me cancel

1e6throw | 2026-03-01 21:25 | 64 views

I placed an order for 7 seat model y only because I could transfer fsd. A couple days ago they changed the terms to deliver by 3/31 not order by 3/31. Im out the $250 deposit and they won’t let me cancel. They also say unlikely I’ll get my car by then. This feels illegal to change terms after an order, how can I escalate? The guy on the phone said he was the end of the line and there was no one else to escalate to what do I do?

Ask the phone rep for their manager’s LinkedIn. If they say they don't have one, ask for the email of the person who decides which memes get posted on the official Tesla X account.

File a chargeback to your credit card

solarsystemoccupant 2026-03-01 21:43

The terms when you ordered is what you’ll get.

dryayo7816 2026-03-01 21:48

Get a chargeback I heard they don’t do nothing From what I hear If so usually the bank will go with th customer mostly

Kirkandree 2026-03-01 21:56

I hope this isn’t true. I did the same with a new MYP I ordered a few days ago. Don’t have a VIN yet so no delivery date. I was at Tesla The other day and it wasn’t mentioned.

Message Elon

According to this post you should be able to get your deposit back..https://x.com/i/status/2027883683064041835

I said this a few years ago before I bought my Tesla: the amount of $ they make from deposits on cancelled orders has to be in the millions. Most people aren’t worried about $250-$500 deposit when purchasing a car, so when they came out with the 60k Cybertruck bait & switch I’m sure a lot of people cancelled their orders once they found out FSD transfer was not an option. Elon is really trying to hit that FSD subscription bonus and rake in the & for false advertising..

EdCenter 2026-03-01 22:23

Wonder how much investment income they made from the $50k Roadster deposits!

BaxBaxPop 2026-03-01 22:34

This. Check your app. You have a Documents section. See if there's language about FSD transfer. There might still be hope.

RedBandsblu 2026-03-01 22:36

I didn’t even think about that, but it sounds like a bank.. give me your money now, they invest it make a lot of $ and give you your return (product) 2-3 years later… in the roadster case I’m sure it’s probably more like 5-10 years lol.. they are slimey at Tesla they know people putting a thousand dollar deposit on a Tesla aren’t too worried about the time frame so you get 1,000 suckers to do it that’s a million in one day, they probably got close to 100,000 suckers so they have 100 million dollars to turn into a billion and half of those people will forfeit that deposit when the time comes Edit: 50k deposit 🤯… that’s insane they definitely are doing some sort of fraud smh, but if you have 50k to burn then I guess that’s peanuts and you aren’t worried if you fumble that bag

TheNoLifeKing 2026-03-01 22:49

I am in the exact same boat. I am still going to let it deliver and cancel it once they send it to the shop so they have to sit on the inventory.

Jx022 2026-03-01 23:00

Chargeback

shenfever 2026-03-01 23:01

If OP hides their complaint in a grok AI video where Elon is super buff and has all of his hair then he might even get a repost!

Wicket825 2026-03-02 01:33

Did you ever talk to a rep about FSD transfer? When I put my in my car for trade in, a rep called me and I mentioned I was ordering to do a transfer. He must have put it in the notes because shortly after confirming my identity I got a message in app and an email detailing eligibility for FSD transfer. For me, all it says is my current car needs to remain on my Tesla account until I take delivery of the new one. Ordered 2/19, confirmed identity 2/21. My delivery estimate is 3/28-3/31 though so I hope I don’t need to test out that wording.

Packing-Tape-Man 2026-03-02 01:48

Tesla has been telling others that they will refund the $250 if people ordered before the change and won't get their vehicle by 3/31. So I would push back or speak to other Tesla reps.

BuddyBing 2026-03-02 01:54

Just stop... Wasting everyone's time by doing that.

BuddyBing 2026-03-02 01:56

What the hell is wrong with the people commenting on this... You have original terms of when you made the purchase. Review those to make sure you have an FSD transfer.

vasahni908 2026-03-02 02:35

Why? If Tesla wouldn't honor the terms they offered him at the time of placing order and won't refund him his $250, he has all the evidence needed to file charge back

BuddyBing 2026-03-02 02:59

Who said they won't?? Everyone just making assumptions without even looking at the details in these things...

rflo24 2026-03-02 04:15

Tesla is becoming more and more shady by the day

rsg1234 2026-03-02 04:34

It’s mind blowing that they have stated they will not honor the deal for people who ordered before the change. I will not be moving forward with my purchase because of the change. We were supposed to test drive a new Y today but canceled it.

Technical-Owl1002 2026-03-02 08:24

tbh. you really didnt have to wait until the absolute last minute to risk having this problem

Whale_Poacher 2026-03-02 08:44

Switch to a gray 5 seater and play with the different variants lol, maybe you get one in stock asap. 7 seater sounds tough as they probably don’t sell/make a lot…

cac2573 2026-03-02 12:30

That’s cute. Tesla has a history of doing this kind of thing.

cac2573 2026-03-02 12:35

Uh, no. I ordered a MYP in early February. That’s not last minute.

bdz 2026-03-02 13:01

OP said it. You know the person who's credit card and order was with Tesla.

lamgineer 2026-03-02 13:11

Go ahead if you don’t ever plan to buy a Tesla or get one service by Tesla again.

TheKingOfSwing777 2026-03-02 13:17

Apparently that is not the case. They reserve the right to change the terms of the 'offer' at any time, and they have done so.

> This feels illegal to change terms after an order, It is, unless the contract says they can do it.

theotherharper 2026-03-03 02:24

You're missing the point. **A chargeback is not a judicial decision in your favor**. It simply cancels the payment method, and now you owe the money you agreed to pay. And you can be billed, dunned, collected on, and get a court judgment against you. You are far too accustomed to retailers just saying “Sigh, we have a disgruntled customer here so let's just write off the loss as a customer service/satisfaction issue, because it's not worth the negative energy of fighting for it”. And you are taking it for granted. Indeed, many will say “ok, this is now a receivable that you owe, we’re not going to spend a fortune on collections or bother to burn your credit report, but you WILL need to settle the tab before attempting to do any new business with us”.

HoesAteMyOreos 2026-03-05 01:45

What a loop hole BS Thats just like me simply saying,....I lied!

theotherharper 2026-03-05 06:14

Contract law 101. When verbal discussion and a written contract exists, the written contract rules absolutely, and the verbal discussion ***is completely null.*** If you've ever played Chinese Whispers / Telephone, you know why it needs to be that way. Even if you did have a firm and honest verbal agreement, he'd remember it differently than you would. That's why you have to read contracts. If you're not a reader then you're SOL.

I got a message to transfer FSD . But I need a lawyer to help lol. I’m tempted but I don’t want shenanigans! OK I know if I just go and order today and try to transfer I’ll get screwed because I didn’t understand the fine print 😂🤪. What does this Message (below) mean exactly. When I read it I think I can order a New Tesla Model 3 Performance any day and even on March 31. And it should transfer even if the car is delivered in April. Or do I have to order transfer and get the new car before March 31? And when it does transfer do I not have to pay monthly for FSD? Because I paid in full in 2018. I just get it and keep “forever” without paying more? I have a 2018 Tesla Model 3 long range and I paid For FSD for like $3,000 I think at the time. Message in my Tesla App: FSD (Supervised) Transfer Available Until March 31 When you upgrade your Tesla to any new model, you can transfer your Full Self-Driving (Supervised)* to your new vehicle until March 31, 2026. FSD (Supervised) is also available for purchase outright on new vehicles through February 14, 2026, after which it will only be offered as a subscription. *Features require active supervision and do not make your vehicle autonomous.

I’ve only heard that in connection with a Cybertruck order.
