Hit a pothole with my brand new car! Does tesla warrnety cover repair

Soggy_Milk8451 | 2026-02-28 02:00 | 22 views

Is this tire fine or do I need to get it fixed. I hit a pot hole going very slow in long island. And does tesla tire warrenty cover it? Brand is 2 weeks old-model 3 performance

My M3P I got, they gave me a free first month tire warranty, check your app maybe?

whadzinaname 2026-02-28 02:04

If you bought it brand new, it might have come with free one month tire and wheel protection. That would cover this.

nagelk87 2026-02-28 02:04

I think you get 30 days for windshield but unsure about tires. Looks like you should replace it, sidewall damage isn't good

HWbikergal 2026-02-28 02:06

That isn't a warranty, that is an OOPS on your part. They are not going to fix something you caused. Real bummer this happened.

Dry_Situation_3582 2026-02-28 02:07

Luckily, it'll only be a few hundred bucks since the car shouldn't have too many miles on it!

jaqueh 2026-02-28 02:08

If you got the wheel and tire hazard protection then yes it would be covered. Else no. Peel it back. If you don’t see bulging or cords or mesh then it might be ok if you put in rubber cement if you drive slowly for the next week. No road trips.

Soggy_Milk8451 2026-02-28 02:08

Yeah I got it. I bought warrenty also in case not sure if I need to fix this right away or can wait

Personal-Brief-4618 2026-02-28 02:09

Nope been there

dantodd 2026-02-28 02:13

That is a road hazard. If you have a road hazard warranty then it should be covered. Just drive to the service center that is definitely a driving safety issue. If you have coverage they will either fix it on the four if give you as loaner while they fix it

Pensionato007 2026-02-28 02:15

I think the "warrnety" won't work on that (sic).

mateokurnik 2026-02-28 02:27

Depending on documentation and the jurisdiction a lot of states will let you file claims with stuff like this I hit a crack on the 210 freeway in CA that popped 2 tires and filed a claim with Caltrans… they paid for both

pnu7 2026-02-28 03:48

Right away

justintate_ 2026-02-28 04:19

The amount of people that ask this question is alarming.

jefedezorros 2026-02-28 04:36

How brand new? I think it delivers with a one-month windshield and tire protection enabled.

Soggy_Milk8451 2026-02-28 04:49

1 week

Long-Pea2275 2026-02-28 05:32

Pls be attentive while driving

abgtw 2026-02-28 05:45

I have bad news for you. Its going to happen again. Thats why 18"/19" rims are way better on Teslas for praticality!

Soggy_Milk8451 2026-02-28 06:06

Yeah that's what im thinking

Right_Economist_3508 2026-02-28 06:15

Do you have a tire protection plan?

Soggy_Milk8451 2026-02-28 06:19

Yeah I have it

ultimateaoe2 2026-02-28 06:30

then yes.

sevargmas 2026-02-28 06:40

This isn’t a warranty repair. Tesla didn’t build something incorrectly or poorly. You hit a pothole. It’s on you.

s_nz 2026-02-28 07:00

Claim under that then. Note it is a separate thing to warranty (which only covers manufacture defects and the likes, not damage from potholes etc)

KeeslerCondoChief 2026-02-28 07:40

And if you have mobile service, I’d call them to come fix it because if that bursts on the road you are going to have a heck of a lot more problems than just a busted tire.

KeeslerCondoChief 2026-02-28 07:40

Keep us apprised as to whether they cover it.

PurpleIris3 2026-02-28 07:51

The 18 inch rims are awesome. I love mine. Apparently it increases range ever so slightly too.

PurpleIris3 2026-02-28 07:52

Also, you don’t need Tesla specific rims or tires. Just go to your local huge tire chain store ( I went to discount tire) and they’ll know which ones work on a Tesla.

MadMensch 2026-02-28 08:08

My wife was driving my M3 highland and hit a pothole on the freeway, blew out both passenger side tires. The tire warranty came in clutch and ended up paying $50 for 2 brand new tires installed by Tesla roadside assistance.

Soggy_Milk8451 2026-02-28 08:42

Nice! Thank you for the info

sparkyblaster 2026-02-28 08:42

That pot hole could have been on the street outside the delivery center and it wouldn't be covered.

sparkyblaster 2026-02-28 08:44

"I sliced my seat open, will warrenty cover this?"

sparkyblaster 2026-02-28 08:45

You tried?

sparkyblaster 2026-02-28 08:46

Pothole could be at the end of the delivery driveway and it wouldn't be covered. Tires are a wear item for any brand.

sparkyblaster 2026-02-28 08:47

And to be clear. That's a separate extra to the included warrenty.

MadMensch 2026-02-28 09:02

Yes there’s a separate monthly cost to it but worth it with the poor roads we have in SoCal.

Medical-Frame2180 2026-02-28 09:51

On my Tesla I had complimentary first 30 days of tire/wheel protection plan and windshield protection plan coverage.

mother_fkn_crackk 2026-02-28 14:24

Do you have the wheel care? Then no. Get used to wheel problems.

Flashy-Bandicoot889 2026-02-28 15:01

Why would Tesla (or any car company) cover your mistake?

Low_Desk1822 2026-02-28 15:25

Nope. Sorry

jefedezorros 2026-02-28 18:53

But Tesla now has tire coverage subscription that does cover this. Similar to windshield coverage. And they give one free month of windshield I know. Not sure if tire is included but worth inquiring. Or being as OP is only one week out, should at least be able to add protection.

jefedezorros 2026-03-03 18:56

I just got a notification that confirmed my Tesla came with 30 days of complimentary windshield and tire protection.

jefedezorros 2026-03-03 18:56

You should be covered by the complimentary windshield and tire protection.

Soggy_Milk8451 2026-03-03 19:14

I got it checked out tesla does not cover cosmetics damages it has to be un drivable

jefedezorros 2026-03-03 21:04

And a gash in the sidewall is cosmetic? Thanks for confirming what I thought which is the tire coverage isn’t worth it. I will go buy certificates at Discount Tire.
