Crackling noise under dashboard + strong electrical/burning smell inside cabin - 2024 MY RWD

Yesterday I heard a crackling / popping sound from the driver side under the dashboard while driving. It stopped after parking. Today, when driving again, a strong electrical / burning plastic / chemical smell appeared inside the cabin. The smell is still lingering after shutdown. No warnings on screen. No visible smoke. Has anyone experienced a crackling sound from under the dash followed by an electrical/burning smell inside the cabin? What was the cause? I’ve contacted Tesla service but would appreciate any insight.

Yes. But seems to stop as soon as the car is parked

Sounds like a major safety issue. Easier said than done but would advise against driving it until it can be checked. If you must drive, have some plan to be able to escape from the car or break the windows in the event you lose power/ability to open the doors or windows. Not to sound dramatic but just saying this based on some of the horror stories that have happened before

Yeah something is not right... Just heard from Tesla service who booked an appointment in april... Wanted me to do a short testdrive today Have heard some horror stories to and will have a backup plan för escape

Please tell us what they say. Would be surprised if the system didn't recognize a *major* electrical issue.

I found the issue today... A plugged in USB cable the kids left on a wet floor carpet. The end of the cable had melted completely. It was a quality cable but I guess the water shortcutted it. Omg. Problem solved 🫠

I wonder what the sound was though, maybe Sparks från the end och the cable

I think I’m too overly paranoid but I always unplug my cables in the car. Again just based on horror stories I’ve heard
