Is a 2023 RWD Model 3 good?

OtherwiseMarket2239 | 2026-02-26 06:51 | 19 views

Thinking of upgrading from my Honda Civic LX 2006 to a Model 3, 2023, with \~20K miles for $28,000 (25K w/o taxes). Is this a good deal? Are there any consistent problems with this year? FYI, it has AMD Ryzen and FSD 3. There are rumors that a Model 2/Q is in development for significantly less money, but $28K\* for this car sounds like a good deal.

There's no model 2 development. There's the cyber cab. Anyways, it's a decent price. It's called HW3 not FSD (hardware 3) we're now on hardware 4. Do you know if FSD is actually included? As a performance driver, and former SR driver I'll tell you one thing - you can't upgrade range and you'll wish you got the long range. Especially if you don't have home charging, or do road trips often.

I upgraded from a 2007 Honda civic to a 2023 model 3 RWD Standard range and love it. I don’t do many road trips in it but it is light years better than my old trusty civic. Wished I had done it sooner. And I think for what they’re asking not too bad if a deal.

It’s a good deal. I believe that’s the one with 0-60 time of 5.8 seconds which is the LFP battery which has higher longevity. If you can charge at home, go for it

Went from a 2001 civic to this model. That car lasted 21 years. Hopefully Tesla will also. So far no major problems. The usual like suspension parts, cabin noises etc were fixed by Tesla.

Oh, okay, that’s a shame. It says it has “autopilot included” and the premium connectivity expired Jan. 18th. I’ll have to ponder on that last part, too. Having to charge multiple times a week does worry me.

Yeah, I’m not thinking of doing road trips. Just something to upgrade my current car that I drive mainly to work & the gym.

If I can’t charge it at home, I should reconsider, right?

You can’t go wrong with this car. I absolutely love it, not going back to ice car!

Everyone's situation is different. But if I couldn't at least level 1 charge at home I wouldn't own a Tesla or any other EV. Supercharging is expensive and inconvenient for daily usage vs plugging in at home.

If you can find a used 2024 model 3 Id get that vs previous years. The highland redesign was a major upgrade inside and out.

I had the 2022 RWD so not sure if there were any significant differences between that and the 2023 but it was the worst car I ever owned. Like I literally felt it was the worst purchasing decision of my life, especially coming from a Lexus ES350. Experience was so bad that I sold it at a huge loss 3 years later to get my current 2025 AWD which I love.

I would reconsider yea. It gets pretty annoying having to sit at a supercharger (or worse) station every couple of days. It’s not how these cars are meant to be used.

Do you have home charging? If you do you'll never charge at a super charger except on trips also, older SRs have slower charging speed. The highland fixed that.

I don’t have home charging. I live with my parents and they’re skeptical about their electricity bill rising (despite telling them I would pay my parent). I heard there’s a program PG&E offers for EV users which lowers the cost of electricity during certain hours, maybe that’s something I can look into to convince them.

It lowers it by like a penny or two, but super charging is about the same cost in PG&E areas
