What is the range on the battery? Just curious..

Otto_the_Autopilot 2026-02-21 22:08

Hertz rented to Uber drivers.  Almost guarantee this car was used in that program.

CollectionAshamed781 2026-02-21 22:09

283 miles on 100% charge Edited: it’s 238/100% thanks to his comment I double checked it.

nerveneck 2026-02-21 22:29

my dad has a 22’ with 210k, he basically does circles around the city all day

WaffleHouseCEO 2026-02-21 22:35

Why

Lanky-Slice-9122 2026-02-21 22:39

We’ve had 2 model 3 and a model y rental from hertz across 2 months while State Farm does everything to delay repairing our car in a not at fault accident. The model y had the lowest mileage of ~80k sounded like every bearing was bad and immediately threw coolant low warnings which they told us to drive on for a few days before finally saying it required repair. The second was a 23 LFP standard range with 126k miles which was fine other than the light in the driver door had failed so the window wasn’t dropping properly when using the door. For at least a month and a half we’ve had a 22 LFP standard range that besides missing trim pieces and 103k worth of Uber usage drives completely normal. I was so impressed by how well the model 3s have held up to the abuse that I bought a 2024 to replace my 20 year old daily driver while we continue to wait on the repairs for our 2023 standard. I had never previously seen a Hertz rental with more than 75k miles. I find it very interesting they keep the Teslas in the uber programs for as long as they do.

Extent_Total 2026-02-21 22:41

That can’t be. Is that a standard range? My 2020 model 3 LR AWD gets 284 miles at 100% at 52K miles.

Academic_End_3828 2026-02-21 22:50

Prob not has a battery health check done recently, so most likely reading from when it only had a few k miles, i think a test is valid for 6 months? Might have racked up a LOT of miles since the last test

Academic_End_3828 2026-02-21 22:50

Orrr a new battery maybe?

Academic_End_3828 2026-02-21 22:51

Sounds like something uber drivers do

RickS50 2026-02-21 22:51

I thought Hertz unloaded all their Tesla's a while back. Apparently they kept a few.

stanley_fatmax 2026-02-21 23:02

Dementia is a wild ride

WaffleHouseCEO 2026-02-21 23:02

Or mobile drug screen transport

WaffleHouseCEO 2026-02-21 23:02

LOL

Ill-Fuel7721 2026-02-21 23:24

How’d you get it to show up in the app? I currently have an M3 through budget cars and it won’t let me add it without messing up my actual car on the app

cheesepierice 2026-02-21 23:40

Got lost in a roundabout 😄

CollectionAshamed781 2026-02-21 23:59

A QR code popped up when I turned the car on

CollectionAshamed781 2026-02-22 00:03

This one is near Tesla collision center, people asking for teslas is my guess.

Inevitable-Spell-905 2026-02-22 00:12

Very old software.

392mangos 2026-02-22 00:16

284 on the dash or 284 IRL?

James-robinsontj 2026-02-22 00:19

Hahah

RickS50 2026-02-22 00:28

There were a bunch for sale at the local (Phoenix) Hertz car sales last year. The sales people were complaining about how long it took to get them fixed even though they were under warranty because they had to wait to sell them if they had something wrong with them.

rwhe83 2026-02-22 00:33

I love how you asked OP, they answered…then you basically called them a liar.

Unhappy-Read7744 2026-02-22 01:02

That’s awesome. I always wished more rental car places did this. Would make it much nicer to rent teslas.

Loud-Way3333 2026-02-22 01:12

That’s wild. They still keep 2022 cars? All my Hertz rentals so far are no older than 1 year and less than 5,000 miles.

Extent_Total 2026-02-22 01:37

Wait a min. They didn’t answer my question. That was someone else asking and OP answered with 283/100%. So I asked which trim it is. OP hasn’t responded. I didn’t call him a liar.

Extent_Total 2026-02-22 01:38

Probably on the dash. Nobody is gonna state a specific mileage number IRL.

rwhe83 2026-02-22 01:46

They told you the range (I am assuming what it displayed) and your response was “that can’t be”

Angry_Robot 2026-02-22 02:00

Band name

jnads 2026-02-22 02:08

Or just not supercharged a ton. My 2019 with 80k miles still gets 280 miles.

Ill-Fuel7721 2026-02-22 02:12

Interesting. A QR code popped up but it was just a link to download Tesla app and nothing ever got me to add the car. Using the key card is so dumb compared to phone key!

dantodd 2026-02-22 02:14

Since 285 is more than the RWD and represents a 20% degradation from the AWD and only a10% degradation for a performance I would think it is most likely an AWD though it could be a performance. He also can't know if this is the original battery or a replacement

Interesting_Gas_163 2026-02-22 02:19

😂

392mangos 2026-02-22 02:34

Yeah good point.

Extent_Total 2026-02-22 04:35

Yeah no. That question was asked by someone else. Not me. When OP said 283, I chimed in saying can’t be. As in, no way, you’re joking. That can’t be. Cuz the brand new RWD standard Model 3 only got 272 from the factory. Their screenshot suggests it’s not a Long Range or All Wheel Drive as it doesn’t say that in the screenshot of the app. Hence the disbelief.

nerveneck 2026-02-22 04:38

manages all locations of his business, does his rounds all around the city

Alexweb1000 2026-02-22 04:43

I have a 2019 model 3 Performance with 173k miles and still good condition still. First thing I will take it in for service in the next 2-4 weeks will be the front shock is making a squeaky noice and the breaks I think I need them replaced for the first time. Range is 243 on the original 310 when new.

hydrastix 2026-02-22 05:24

I have a 2017 M3P with 237K that I bought new. I replaced all the wheel bearings two years ago and that is it. Only one bearing was bad, but I opted to go ahead and replace all four because they gave me a good deal and I didn’t wanna be bothered in the future. It’s still holding 86% of its original range on the original battery.

dextroz 2026-02-22 05:34

... And still on FSD without any destination.

adspendagency 2026-02-22 05:46

Drop off stabilizes around 90% so yea you lose a lot of range due to degradation but that same rate doesn’t continue. It usually plateaus around 85-90%

Radiant-Forever-6806 2026-02-22 05:58

Sybaut

Extent_Total 2026-02-22 06:09

SYBAU

Present-Ad-9598 2026-02-22 08:06

The destination is the center of the roundabout

IrishGeordie 2026-02-22 09:57

My 2021 M3LR gets 480km (298miles) on full charge, with 170,000 kilometres on the clock...

RealWorldJunkie 2026-02-22 10:43

Other software version related band name options that could work: \- Rollback \- Patch \- Glitch Patch \- Fresh Install

1988rx7T2 2026-02-22 12:00

People don’t start bands anymore, you’re old. Or at least, Bands dont Achieve much commercial succes, unless you consider touring roadies a band.

ForeverLurker18 2026-02-22 14:11

Oof, does it not get software updates anymore?

CollectionAshamed781 2026-02-22 15:19

It does, but no one is taking the time to update it

ForeverLurker18 2026-02-22 15:34

Ahhhhh alright, glad to hear that.

penmarker222 2026-02-22 16:41

It’s a rental used for Uber it’s been supercharged probably every day it’s been around

yaaahh 2026-02-22 17:52

Could be a RWD Long Range

CollectionAshamed781 2026-02-22 18:00

You were right my apologies it’s 238/100

Extent_Total 2026-02-22 18:16

Okay I figured it’s probably just a mix up. I used to work for Tesla. Now can you tell the 17 people who downvoted my comment? 😂

Ikn0wmore 2026-02-22 18:35

Goes to show how good the cars are when it comes to mileage

Fluid-Currency6344 2026-02-22 18:48

That’s amazing! How long do the batteries usually last? I have a 2022 M3 with 65k miles. Bought used not very long ago. Always a little skeptical about charging past 80%.

Legitimate-Ask-5803 2026-02-22 22:58

Just had one with 112,000 from hertz. Battery SUCKED

hydrastix 2026-02-22 23:45

If I had to guess, unless the battery has a catastrophic failure, I wouldn’t be surprised to hit 400-500k or more. Even then it would still be useable for local travel.

AdventureSpaghetti 2026-02-23 00:12

Didn’t know Tesla made the BMW M3. You learn something new every day!

JurassicTerror 2026-02-23 02:45

Lol wtf. I thought rental places cleared cars out of their fleet at around 20-30k miles.

[deleted] 2026-02-23 03:09

Hey kids look Big Ben!

Strangerthanyou77 2026-02-23 04:32

This was a good "experiment " or metaphor for how most ppl and reality are. You came in w 0 disrespect and facts. You understand that 283 miles was definitely inaccurate so yiu mentioned it can't be right. And eveyone here threw a fit thiking you are pretentious and being rude. Most ppl are soft and fools

Strangerthanyou77 2026-02-23 04:33

He said its 2022 and that model didn't exist. So no it csnt

CL1122 2026-02-23 05:10

https://i.redd.it/i18jstsqg6lg1.gif

CollectionAshamed781 2026-02-23 05:16

It’s weird, they removed a digit on the paper work making it 18k miles

yaaahh 2026-02-23 06:57

They existed back then as Fleet Cars not for the public. From the VIN it’s a RWD and with the range OP said it had it has to be a RWD LR

Strangerthanyou77 2026-02-23 08:22

That's false. And it was publicly stated that hertz deal wasn't any special deal and they got the dame models eveyone has access to. Thus no it wasn't possible for them to buy rwd lr

peterge98 2026-02-23 08:38

That's actually pretty good

dantodd 2026-02-23 08:50

238 makes much more sense. Understandable mistake.

S3XYPLAID 2026-02-24 02:14

You hid the VIN on a rental?

pretzelgreg317 2026-02-24 02:18

I have a 2023 model 3 with 38k miles on it that tested out recently with 260 miles range (from the original 272) I charge to 95-100 percent regularly and am beginning to think the LFP batteries are almost bulletproof
