So im buying a used model 3 traded in my vehicle and i have signed the paperwork. I haven’t seen the vehicle they did an inspection and apparently it needs repairs vehicle hasn’t been in a reported accident so im curious what they need to repair. They have stated they will reimburse me and has already reached out to Tesla to make sure the windshield is in tomorrow but im confused why im paying for it while in their possession. State im in is Texas am I missing something ?

Deposit? Normal. Purchase of car? No. Also, you need to see the car before putting money into it. Ideally, you’d want to know what repairs before putting a deposit down.

You need to bring someone firm with you to the dealership who isn't afraid to stand up for your rights as a customer. This is not acceptable.

I have already put money down not really worried since I have a 5 day/ 250 mile return policy so if they play games i will just leave and they will be out of money and time they did to fix the tesla repairs they have already completed

If you aren’t worried, then why are you asking?

This is not normal! If they take in a used car, they are supposed to inspect it to make sure it is road worthy! If there are any repairs that need to be made, THEY do it. Obviously, they should have made the repairs BEFORE putting it up for sale! I would turn down the sale!

People buy cars all the time that could use repairs. It’s up to the customer how Mint of a car they want and what if any anything they want to fix . And the price should reflect that . If the repair was noticed after the fact and it’s something they are willing to fix or you’re content with it based on price then it’s all transparent . But selling you a car and scheduling a repair that you have to pay for before you buy it and hope they reimburse ? That’s a hard no . Tell them to fix it if the price gonna remain the same and if and when it’s done if you’re still interested then you’ll make an offer

I know many of these dealers especially in Texas because evs are popular and the infrastructure is there they buy them quick list them then deal with stuff later i will inspect it once the sister dealer is done with everything and ask for what repairs they did if it’s not to my liking im definitely not going to take the deal i would love for them to have had me sit at the dealership for 5 hours and then the sale not go through teaches them to not do shady shit
