Used low mileage 2024 Model 3 or new?

stixmike | 2026-02-16 23:06 | 9 views

I just saw the new .99% APR promotion and it's tempting. I want to buy a performance. Currently there are a few low mileage 2024 performance model 3 performances with around 11k miles for sale in my area. Should I buy a used 2024 for 46k or new?

It depends but generally I think, Used tends to be a better deal. EVs depreciate much faster than regular Gasoline cars. Even with the 0.99 APR, if you can buy cash the used EV, it would be a much better deal. That is not even including the fact that you could look for one that has FSD already purchased. Many dealers don't even know the difference between FSD or not when they're selling a Tesla so you could buy one with it included for a great price

0.99% doesn’t apply to P’s

I'd get the used if you care to save yourself $10k+. Remember depreciation for tesla cars it's about $5k a year lost in value. I'm waiting for the model 3 2024 or newer to drop below $30k, almost there, one more year or so. I'd rather pay $30k with a 7% rate for a 3 year old car vs $50k for a brand new one with 0.99% rate. To each their own.

It does apply to Ps

Yeah I think the interest is $5k for the used and $800 for the new. I was gonna put $25k down. Even if overall it's cheaper I just feel like that's a lot of interest compared to the new. But if the cars are essentially the same as the 2026 maybe it doesn't matter since it depreciates so much.

djskeets15 2026-02-16 23:48

Yea If you don't care about the depreciation then go for the new one. But if not, why not pay cash for a used one then since you already got $25k? Another $10k should get you a decent one and no payments or interest?

Mostly because I really want a performance and there are only two used ones in the color I want, both for around 46k

djskeets15 2026-02-16 23:56

Ahhh ok, well in that case get a new one ha. Is the performance one really that much better than the regular long range? Isn't the difference just it's a bit faster?

New ones have front camera vs none on the 2024 or no?

New ones 2026 have front bumper cam + turn signal stalk

2026 M3P do have front bumper cameras + turn signal stalk.

No one’s mentioning this, but the ’24 model also comes with Autosteer/Autopilot. If you’re willing to put in a little extra effort, you can even find one that already has FSD purchased. That’s what I would do personally — look for one with FSD included, even if it meant flying out to pick it up somewhere. Also, I see people mentioning the front bumper cam. Fact check me on this, but I'm pretty sure you can get it retrofitted now. I think they just released something recently for this.

Purchased my first EV/Tesla here in December. Low miles ‘24 M3P. Would love to have front camera for parking as I’m always nervous to hit the front but I’m used to no stalks. I don’t think the front camera is worth the $9k. If I could add a retrofit that worked with FSD for $500-1,000 I’d be interested, but not for $9k. If you can find your color combo go used.

Where are you located? I’m interested in selling a ‘24 P

JonnyBowani 2026-02-17 03:46

I stand corrected…read another post that P’s weren’t included and didn’t bother to verify before I typed. Probably won’t be that much of a difference in your payment to buy new

stixmike 2026-02-17 14:28

I'm in DC

stixmike 2026-02-17 14:29

Yeah it seems like the only real differences are the stalk, camera, and some mild cosmetic differences. Other than that it uses the same FSD as the 2026 right?

stixmike 2026-02-17 15:02

That's a good point. and the Tesla website also shows a retrofit for the stalk as well.
