de-influence me from buying the byd shark 6
with today’s oil prices getting the shark is getting really tempting, i wanted a pick-up generally for work purposes (i work in construction btw) so i would usually haul tiles, paints, doors, but not a lot

- BYD is still in the early stages in the Philippines. Remember the Geely hype. Would recommed to not hop on the train just yet. - Hilux Hybird MIGHT come this year in the PH

I’ve driven Shark couple of times, I am a farmer. Looks premium, drives smooth. The style is really attractive. Charging is okay, considering it is a hybrid vehicle. Cons is, I noticed it is not really fit for carrying and hauling compared to any of its ICE variants. Installed hitch to attach one of our carriers loaded with a carabao. The torque is there, but along the way for a short second, it loses grip and power which is a comprmise for us farmers. In ilocano “agpugsut”. I consilted with casa, pag mabigat daw dala make sure hundred percent and di bababa sa 70% ang charge, I dont know why they said this pero sana hindi ganun kase truck ang binili sir diba. The 4x4 feature also needs more refined mechanism, tried time and again this happened after towing carabao and loaded ako inside&out, may sound sa ilalim na hindi maganda pakinggan. Hopefully they fix this. I drive both ICE and Shark pickup sir, maganda shark for lifestyle and daily. But if it’s going to perform heavy labor, haul, and rough drive, baka may bumigay. Putting logistics of parts/materials is a major consideration, ICE cars can better handle stress as daily horse katulong sa palayan. With shark sir I hauled 30 sacks of 25kg feeds and napiers/ then towed a carrier loaded of carabao. It’s overall a very good and promising car with a little tweaks for development. Edit: I made an honest mistake of damaging rear suspension due to overloading, akala ko kagaya ng ice. Farm fleet are Pro4x, Dmax, Raptor all kept stock and being driven freely by our farmers/ tractor operators. Never pa naman kame nagkaproblema other than consumables or dinaga na wire (which happened to my Navara.) Really a mistake overloading and overhauling the new Shark. Unfortunately hindi covered ng warranty since owner’s negligence, walang ready parts. So yes tried and tested NOT for hauling, NOT for loading, NOT for offroad use. To add: Okay lang masiraan sana, owners get to understand that eventually, most especially we are aware to where and what we use them for. What I feel particularly disrespected about it when they do the evade method. During me and my sister’s casa visits she liked the car so I agreed we take it albeit it was an oversell. Now for some reason BYD BGC doesn’t even support us for the parts, hindi naman kame naghahabol sa insurance. Bibilhin naman we just need the casa for easier outsourcing sana.
diesel is still king for work trucks.
If you're into off-roading: * Due to its weight combined with its instant torque, nag didig yung tires sa ground instead of biting it to move forward or upward. Pair it with the fact that electrical yung traction control niya rather than mechanical. * Struggles with steep terrain, especially if muddy due to its high and instant torque but electronic traction control. Mas maigi talaga yung mechanical because pwede mong itimpla yung performance depende sa terrain. Kumbaga slowly but surely.
There's a suspension kit (not sure kung available sa Pinas pero meron sa Australia) that would extend the hauling weight to 1 ton. Kapalit nun is magiging harsh na un ride. You may want to consider that if mahilig ka mag overload.
Nice to know others might consider it. As for me I never really knew about it because Ive been overloading my fleet for years kept stock, free of issue/s. Also probably a fault on my part for treating the shark is if it’s a diesel. I tried to hammer down while overloaded. Napagastos ng wala sa oras and Byd BGC is being an ass, Im 3 mos out of the unit.
Check out reviews from Australia where they really off road and load stuff on their pick ups.
They dont tell you that battery warranty is only good as long as battery technology is the same. Ex. Blade battery currently in use right now and they have 8 years warranty. If 2-3 years from now my new battery technology, the warranty is useless, they will ask you to buy new compatible battery or new car altogether. Battery is mostly non repairable, replaceable lang battery cells nya.
It’s not a work truck. You can save some cash and just buy a Hilux J 4X4. The leftover money can be used for mods and additional fuel expense.
Careful with your Raptor. My brother damaged its suspension by hauling a 700kg load for a 12-hour journey. Each shock costs around 135k+.
Yes sir. Altho they have their own “work” to do. The navara is my transporter, from reg 1 to 2 sir. Or from Mt prov to reg 1 usually grains/ fertilizers. Dmax is my hauler, usually stays in the warehouse to rice fields mismo or plantation etc/ hatak kalabaw, the raptor is my service vehicle since I still work for gov’t, region 1 to Bongao whenever I get assigned, okay naman. Comfy din and pang harabas. Thank you po.
For now, for show lang ang pagiging pickup niya basing on owner's feedback. It's a pickup for hauling groceries in the city. Small bed for a pickup and suspect suspension quality. Search for Aussie user reviews, nalaspag na agad yung pang ilalim when used on rough terrain na normal terrain lang for other pickups. Mukhang same experience ng local owner who also commented here when it's used as a work truck.
if you are one of those na gusto mag pickup kahit ang use case is hindi naman pang pick up, go for it.
I heard some issue on uphill torque, not as powerful as ICE engines.. so think twice bro... dami pa dyan ibang brands..
I took delivery last week! Currently on track for my first 1k km driven. Got a 230k discount so not bad. Mas mababa payload capacity niya. Also inis ako now na nasakto sa increase sa fuel prices yung break-in period so no choice to use the engine which is not as efficient as charging.
Meron bang BYD Shark 6 for rent around you? Kasi you're trying to justify owning a multimillion vehicle just because of a temporary issue which is currently the oil price hike. You don't really need that car, you just want the feel of riding it.
It can climb pero pulsuhan mo yung crawl nya if kakayanin dahil mabigat batt, may tendency na mag pivot in both sand and wet road surface.
Yung 12 year old Montero namin is still running great and if gusto ko ibenta, mabebenta ko parin ng at least around 500k. Parts plentiful and madali ayusin lahat ng wear/tear items. Yung lifespan ng batteries ng EVs is around 8 to 10 years. Once maaubos ung warranty and nag fully degrade ung battery, paano na? Baga-bago pa EVs and nobody has experienced the end of life of the batteries yet Plus paano yung reslae value, may bibili bg ng EV ko at a high price if kunyari mga 1 year nalang natitira sa battery warranty?
Kung pang daily, goods siya. Pero kung lagi mong kakargahan, buy a 2nd hand 4x4 pickup truck. Hilux or strada, may mga strada na endeavor body kang makukuha ng less than 400k. Solid pang kargahan un.
hindi talaga pang hauling yan, if gusto mo subok at matibay mag diesel ka, there’s a reason bakit yung mga heavy equipment machineries ay diesel pa din hanggang ngayon, subok sa tibay at lakas basta alaga sa maintenance.
# [Deinfluence me: Buying Byd Shark ](https://www.reddit.com/r/deinfluencingPH/comments/1rkci17/comment/o8ooa1o/?context=1) Yung sinabi ko dyan: AWD lang sya hindi 4WD, wala din high or low-range gearing or diff-locks. For construction, get the diesel pickup with high load capacity tray. I am using Triton Athlete for farming and overlanding, yung friend ko naman Hi-Lux and Navarra gamit nya for construction - no complaints sya sa mga unit nya.
Construction pala eh. Go na yan. At least may purpose unlike pa morma lang.
For me, If it is a workhorse i still prefer diesel trucks. Pero kong pang overlanding or lifestyle ko lang., Go ako sa Shark. GWM Cannon. is also a good choice.
Mapapanisan ka ng gas.
Nipis ng kaha sobra
