BYD Sealion 7 (Software 3.1.0) – App pairing not possible, no QR code option (rental via FINN)

Hi everyone, I’m currently driving a BYD Sealion 7 rented (2 years AiO) via FINN (Germany), software version 3.1.0, and I’m stuck with the BYD app pairing. The u/BYD app asks me to display a QR code in the vehicle to pair the car. According to u/FINN support, the steps should be: Open the infotainment system Go to Settings Select Remote Control A QR code should be displayed Problem: The “Remote Control” / QR code option does not exist at all in my infotainment system. I’ve searched through all menus and settings multiple times. Most guides online assume that: you are the registered owner, and the car is being paired by the first/main account holder But this is a rental vehicle, so I am not the legal owner. What I’ve tried so far: Researched forums and videos (all assume private ownership) Contacted FINN support → they insist the QR code should be there Contacted BYD support Germany / EU → email bounced back (mailbox full) The vehicle seems like it may already be pre-registered or linked to FINN or another master account My questions: 1. Is app pairing restricted to the vehicle owner / first account on BYD cars? 2. Does a rental company (like FINN) need to actively release or reset the vehicle in BYD’s backend? 3. Has anyone successfully paired a BYD rental car with the BYD app? 4. Is there a way to enable the QR code menu if it’s hidden or locked? Any insights from BYD owners, rental users, or BYD staff would be hugely appreciated. Thanks in advance!

BYD have to register your email address so it is associated with the car. Once that is done, you should have the QR code available.

Thx. When you buy the car so it is directly associated with the "handover"?

I also have BYD sealion 7 through FINN but running on older software. When I got the car delivered like 6 months ago I just went into a menu somewhere and it showed the QR code which I scanned it worked almost immediately and the app was paired.

Yes. I'm not sure if the process is different with lease vehicles though. It might be worth phoning BYD support and asking them. They can start the process there and then if needed.

Thread closed – solution found The solution was as follows: The owner (in this case the rental company FIN) contacted the BYD dealer and asked them to make sure that the remote system displays the QR code again on the next vehicle restart. The next morning, when I got into the car, the QR code was displayed and I was able to successfully pair the vehicle with my app. Important: 👉 There is no alternative solution to this issue. The only way to resolve it is for the owner to contact the BYD dealer and explicitly request that the QR code be displayed again. Hope this helps anyone facing the same problem. 👍
