BYD Sealion 8 is now officially available for order in Australia.

god fucking dammit BYD, this has the front of the dynasty series, why call it sealion, the ocean/dynasty series was the only thing that still made a bit of sense in the whole BYD naming shenanigans.

Dynasty sounds to Chinese, at least try me as one and a Sealion6 owner. Better to have an animal.

At least be grateful each time somebody asks you “hey, what do you drive?” you don't have to answer with “Oh I drive a 2023 BYD Destroyer 05.”

They don't care about distinguishing between Dynasty and Ocean series outside of China, they will use whatever name works best for that market. I hate it, but it is what it is.

BYD will be judging the Australian market for this class of vehicle and deeming that the plug-in hybrid will be more successful.

It’s called Tang L EV in China, will be called Atto 8 in Europe I think

Not sure if it will even come to europe but in europe we have the tang so tang L would make sense. Oh well.
