\- A simple speed limiter function next to cruise control. I prefer to dose my own throttle and braking to anticipate, but not cross a certain speed (unless you push the throttle hard enough). \- One pedal drive toggle, or at least get the car to stop completely when not touching the throttle In 2 weeks I'm getting a Seal Excellence and selling my Polestar 2. Those are 2 features that the Polestar does have that I'll definitely miss most
Posibility to add schedule for AC for a week
Wipers not activating if the drivers door is open
Setting charge limit as well as charge speed on AC.
For me in my SL7… In app, Being able to select the rear demister as part of the preconditioning. In-car Being able to customise the permanent onscreen shortcuts at the bottom of the screen (not the icons above it as I know you can change those).
Separate driver profiles, for seat position at the very least.
Home Assistant integration
One pedal driving
Driver profile per key/card/device. Use 360 cameras for dashcam & parking cam.
First one is an amazing suggestion. No more speed tickets! Second I don't really get as I've never tried 1 pedal driving.
> In-car Being able to customise the permanent onscreen shortcuts at the bottom of the screen (not the icons above it as I know you can change those). You can do that in my car
RWD to the Dolphin.
Not likely to happen.
Fold the mirrors from the app! If you're in a tight parking spot you need to go back inside the car, turn on the car, go to settings, find the button, then exit the car again.
Exactly! I leave the house at the same time everyday, I'd like the car to be a bit warmer than the -20 temperatures we're having now.
Do they?
API integration
Dog mode
More detailed battery monitoring. Detailed history, charging sessions, driving sessions, etc
It's really just a more aggressive regenerative braking system.. though it likely requires a hardware change
One pedal drive. For me personally lack of OPD on Sea Lion 7 made me choose another make/model last week.
Dog mode. This is the feature I miss the most from the Tesla.
They sure do
Auto Parking 🅿️
Sentry
One pedal driving.
That would be nice - keyed to a fob or smart card would be great too, so it auto adjusts depending on who activates the car.
Whats Dog Mode?
> more attractive That is your opinion, and BYD does not share it.
Autocorrect issue. I meant to say more aggressive I actually like it the way it is
Custom sound for startup, AVAS and internal engine sound
Have the electro app officially recognised and in the app store. Also change the colours in the driver display (Atto 3) to make it more readable.
Tap and hold on any of those icons should get you into edit mode
That’s for the icons like media centre etc. I’m talking about the line of very small ones at the bottom (eg heating controls). I would like to add for example a drivers heated seat or rear demister down there or seat memory.
Weird! That's how you edit the AC controls in the black bar on the Atto 3 now it has the same UI as the Sealion 7 and Seal
Keeps the air conditioning on while you’re out of the vehicle so your dog can stay inside for an unlimited time (at least until the battery runs out). Disables the interior buttons (esp windows) to prevent accidental activation. Most importantly, puts a big reassuring message on the display so some do-gooder doesn’t break your window and let the dog out.
one pedal driving
Just doubled checked incase something was changed in the last software update (v3.0.1) and nope can’t customise the bar at the bottom that has the heating controls and the screen rotation button in the corner.
they fold when you lock?
A properly functioning driver assistance and adaptive cruise system. Currently, I just have to turn mine off. It's frankly dangerous.
1km/h Cruise control adjustment on the Atto 3. It's on my brother's Shark, so it must be doable.
They need to bring the Seagull to the UK. Not the more expensive premium one they have rebranded. But the bog standard budget one.
what do you find dangerous about it just out of interest? I have gone on three long trips and used it on roads I felt ok using it on, and started to get used to how it operates. I didn’t use it all the time but when I wanted a little break, particularly in traffic jams, it was a huge help.
Ability to switch the “rotate screen” button on the steering wheel to be a “go to apple car play” button which I would actually use. Also being able to play / pause music from a steering wheel shortcut.
Sentry mode with alerts on their mobile app
I think that may already be there on the 2025 ATTO 3. The set point moves in 1 km steps if you hold the switch rather than flicking it.
It's definitely not on the 2024 model. I hope it's in the next update.
That's already a thing. You probably just don't have it in your model. You have to go with the Han or Tang to get that. It's a life saver in my Tang because my wife is 160cm and I'm 183cm, so the driving position is very different.
Being sold in the US
What do you mean? DiLink is open source. There are plenty of apps already that use the APIs (i.e. Electro, Di+, Dudu Launcher)
You can already use the 360 cameras for dashcam and sentry mode. You just need to use an app like Electro or Di+. It's also already directly available on CDM models. But it definitely would be nice to have it built-in. As for the driver profiles, I get it, but I don't know. I don't think that's BYD's style. It's already available in the Tang and Han, as well as other models in the other brands. But they work in the traditional way of using buttons for the profiles. BYD is no Tesla or Lucid (or Xpeng). I personally feel they target the sweet spot between high tech and traditional functionality.
All of that is already available with the Electro app. But yeah, it would be nice to have it built-in.
Already available with apps (like Electro or Di+) or in CDM models. But definitely would be nice to have built-in on global models.
Seal also has it. depending on the model
This is everything I need, tbh.
You need a byd ac or byd compatible charger.
Charge limit is not necessary. That's a feature I feel people got used to just because the main battery chemistry back in the day was NMC. A feature like that would hurt the regular user more in the long term with LFP batteries because the BMS could become wildly decalibrated. The scheduled charging feature is enough if for whatever reason you NEED to not charge to 100%, although I cannot really think of a reason why you'd NEED to do that. Car side charging speed control would also be nice, but most chargers can do that on their own. So no big deal IMO.
...and you get to keep an eye on said dog using the interior camera too
I haven't tried using their API but looking at this discussion it seems to be quite locked-down, and some of what people managed to build they did by reverse-engineering other apps with a BYD business partnership: https://github.com/jkaberg/byd-react-app-reverse/issues/2 There's a comment there from August last year saying > According to reliable sources, BYD is expected to provide a new developer platform early next year and can wait for the new developer platform. ...so maybe they're on it?
I’ve got a Sealion 7. Any known workarounds for this vehicle?
> - A simple speed limiter function next to cruise control. I prefer to dose my own throttle and braking to anticipate, but not cross a certain speed (unless you push the throttle hard enough). I really want this. The cruise control on my Seal is a bit rubbish for a lot of situations; For example, if it's following someone on a windy road it'll lose sight of them for a second and suddenly accelerate on the curve. It's also quite uncomfortable on bumpy roads, it seems to accelerate coming off the bumps. Ideally they'd fix all this stuff and make the cruise control experience wonderful in all situations but just adding a simple speed limiter and letting the driver drive the car would deal with most of them.
My biggest one is the speed limiter as proposed by /u/deSenna24 but some low-hanging fruit would be multiple charging schedules. I have cheap power twice a day (2 hours around noon when there's spare solar and 4 hours at night when there's spare nuclear) and it's a faff to keep changing the schedule to use both of them.
Have you tried just stepping out of your car, locking it, and walking away? I'm being serious. I don't really get the need for pet mode if you can just leave the car on, lock it and walk away. I've done it countless times with my dogs in my Tang, and even without the dogs just so the cabin doesn't get too hot. If I have my dogs in there, I just make sure to leave the AC screen on, showing the temperature for the global reason of stupid people breaking the car window. I also enable the child safety locks which block the windows and also block the rear screen so they don't accidentally turn off the back seats AC. Mind you, of course you need to disable the easy entry and exit features and use the God forsaken old school method of stepping on the break pedal and pressing the start/stop button, and then press the button again if you want to turn off the car.
This would be a kicker. Would also need a speed limiter, on highways where we have issues with cruise control, limiter becomes helpful.
That just tells me you probably haven't used it for long enough. Keep trying it out and see (under your own risk)
They already got it. The God's Eye system. We just have to wait for them to release it globally since it's currently just available in their CDM models. It is VASTLY superior to the crap global models still come with.
You can already do that with the app, but you have to do it everyday manually. I can see how that would be a nice feature to have.
For whatever reason you must have disabled the setting to auto-fold the mirrors when you lock the car. Please enable it. I hate cars with unfolded mirrors in parking lots.
Already available in CDM models. Hopefully it will come along with God's Eye when it comes to global models. I've personally tried it in a CDM BYD Seagull and it's amazing. It doesn't get it perfect every time, but it's very usable.
Pet mode.
I don't think that's inline with BYD's design. That's more Tesla/Xpeng. You might want to look to a different brand if that's the kind of things you're looking for.
Already available with the app Electro. But I agree it would be nice to have it built-in.
Can't get that on SL7
1) A nerdy energy management app like Rivian's. 2) Change the stupid kWh/50km to kWh/100km for the past 100km consumption. It currently only shows kWh/100km for all time average consumption. 3) Individual HVAC zone control from the app instead of just global control for all zones.
My excellence in the UK has it
This gets my vote.
Maps on the dash for the seal or just a better design. The current one looks a bit dated and not up to the center screen software
To be able to install 3rd party apps freely. Or at least, thst their app store stops being a desert.
Should have been given a choice since we own the car
If it can be done with a sideload then it can be done natively. Driver profiles would be a simple software fix. If they don't want to do it with the keys then at least duplicate the existing profile buttons from the settings menu to the main screen so it's just one tap when you get in.
Yeah it's the wrong way around, should be 5km step if you hold it and 1km steps if you tap. Edit: I should say BYD made it the wrong way around.
Navigation on the dash/HUD! (Seal)
I've got the sealion 6. I'd really like if the rear view mirror was one of the dashcam, monitor types. Then I'd be able to clearly see what's behind my vehicle at all times.
Those are DiLink 5 and not compatible with Electro. The software in Sealion 7 cars is quite different than the rest of BYDs. I don't know of any apps specific for that car. A CDM Sealion 7 might be a bit more open.
driver profiles are in 2511 usb update the car
driver profiles only on the seal
Autonomous drive
Crack open the windows an inch in the app.
Not having the option for one pedal drive is actually against the natural working of an electric motor. An EV is not an ICE where a gear is engaged or rolling in drive with an automatic, it would be unatural for an EV to keep on rolling, as that's just an ICE thing. They can always add it by software, it's not that hard. The MG4 for example (as just one of MG) had one pedal drive added later by a software update. The MG4 Xpower had it and more people wanted it as well, so now even the base RWD model can do it.
Related, I'd like to the ability to limit the charging power so we could match it against our peak solar.
For me on the uk spec Dolphin Surf, two very simple things… 1. A way to see the external ambient temperature on the UI 2. The ability to use the windscreen fans when using the HVAC remotely from the mobile app.
Youtube Music
Jeez. I hope so. I was doing a 110 kilometers an hour, and it slammed on the brakes when it saw an overhead bridge.
Randomly brakes at a 110 kilometers an hour when it sees bridges and other objects. It's quite unsettling, and I've had the AEB kick in for no reason turning a corner, which nearly got me rear ended. Just random shit like that. I've had mine 3 and a half years, so I know how to use it.
Did you read your manual?
That's not what I meant. I only need this function sometimes because I don't want to waste money to replace it in the future. So, when I do need it, it wastes my time to find the setting.
Since when does this exist in the seal?
Thats not accurate, in my global versin seal u, i can create a routine ( ac, seat heating .. etc) and schedlue it for a specific days of the week https://preview.redd.it/plssvdrka9eg1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=638019a9793dbcb656f2edde9cc14d456a16f4cd
Show temperature car outside in app without turning on heating
Set up a repeating schedule for the AC every morning for work, instead of just being able to do it 24hrs in advance
> The scheduled charging feature is enough if for whatever reason you NEED to not charge to 100%, although I cannot really think of a reason why you'd NEED to do that. I do this in my head by calculating how much power I'll get per hour of charging time and extending the scheduled charge but if I've come home from a long drive with a low battery I like to charge it to about 50% right away on on-peak electricity so my car is ready if I suddenly want to go out, and only then revert to my normal charging schedule that adds 12% per night and 6% per day during the 4+2 hours when my power is cheap. If I had a feature to do a once-off charge to 50% then I'd use it.
Hmm, I’ll have to test that out — I thought the car turned off when you locked it. Thanks.
Fix the 4g going to sleep mode so that the app can always work.
An efficient reception for the radio Digital Audio Broadcasting !
Yeh. Like they have the standard and high, but I reckon high isn't far enough. They should really rename standard to low or off and high to medium and then inset a one pedal driving mode above it. I hated high /one pedal driving, but after getting used to it I like it.
The lane assist kept trying to veer into right lane on the highway - I was fighting the steering wheel while trying to disable the mode - just got the car so I wasn't sure where all the buttons were. . I was able to keep car in my lane but it was super rough. Person in lane next to me quickly merged over away from me and breaked. So must've looked pretty jerky from the outside.
Yeh same. Although I reckon they should really add another level above high for those that want it.
Not sure if that is possible without a hardware change
That'd be handy. Or really just a "dynamic button" so you can set it to do whatever you action / shortcut you want it to do. I never rotate my screen. Not a fan of portrait mode.
Regenerative braking needs to be more efficient. One-pedal driving is essential if you really want to compete against other rivals.
Upper charging limit is also relevant for LFP batteries. It is not as bad as with NMC, but they still do not like sitting at high cell voltages. source with scientific studies in the link section: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w1zKfIQUQ-s
Was looking for this comment. My wife's 7 year old ICE BMW does self parking. So I was a little disappointed this feature was lacking. The dealership said its because the method they use don't pass the regulations in Australia so it was disabled. No idea how true that is but it's just what he told me.
You can already reassign that button according to the drivers manual by holding it, although options are severely limited. Would be nice to be able to set it to anything.

What does CDM mean?
I didnt need to read the manual to know they fold when you lock the car.
Navigation added into speedometer for Seal U-DMI
Second this
Do you have any camera footage of your incidents? I have had pretty full on breaking when a car moves into your lane quite suddenly. In some of those situations I have had the accelerator to override the cruise control to avoid being rear ended. But I would like to learn and understand different scenarios that other people maybe encounter to better understand triggers.
Oh that's cool. Didn't know. Will look into it when I'm in my car next
Exactly. Instead of just copying the BMW controls they copied them and then reversed the functionality. It’s weird and super annoying.
My SL7 (UK) can put Google maps on the dash from Android Auto?
Ability to remotely move the car forward/backward for tight parking spaces.
Interesting. I don't have it available in my global Tang. Maybe the app is also different, not sure. I'm in Costa Rica.
We are not talking about same thing. Air condition i refer :)
Yeap, I know that and I agree. But LFP still needs frequent charges to 100% to avoid the BMS calibration issues. It's a "pick your poison" situation. Misleading SoC that can leave you stranded inadvertently or a little itty bitty tiny mostly insignificant additional degradation by charging to 100%. Leaving the car at 100% for weeks is what should really be avoided.
Chinese Domestic Market. Like JDM cars? (Japanese Domestic Market) It's referring to the cars that are sold locally in China. They have different software and features than the cars they sell outside of China.
Sorry my bad. You can only create a "schedule" for 24 hours in advance. So pretty limited indeed.
God's Eye
Valet mode
Google Wallet support. BYD Dolphin 2024 does not have it while having an NFC mirror and wireless card already, just not with GPay
Auto park feature and maybe one pedal driving
An open API.
I’m in Portugal, and I don’t know why I don’t have self-parking, didn’t ask the seller, especially since BYD clearly has the technology for it. I like so many things about my SL7 that I honestly feel that if it had self-parking, I could say I don’t need anything else in the car.
Yeah, I know BYD has the tech for it, but it’s good to know that it actually works well. I don’t know if they’ll be able to enable self-parking later via an OTA update using the current hardware in my SL7, maybe not 🤷♂️
Thanks for the suggestion i’ll try it out!
> Mind you, of course you need to disable the easy entry and exit features and use the God forsaken old school method of stepping on the break pedal and pressing the start/stop button, and then press the button again if you want to turn off the car. Just disabling the *exit* feature should do it, I think? You still keep the autopower *on* which is the really useful one.
I do have footage, and I submitted it to BYD. There was no car in my lane. It wasn't any scenario where it needed to brake. It was quite a violent braking event.
Unfortunately not. Didn't have the dashcam installed yet. I do now tho so any future ones I'll try to remember to follow up for your collection 👍
An update that actually updates the IVI would be nice.
OPD or at least a more powerful regenerative braking to my Dolphin.
My atto2 2025 has full Google wallet support, worked out of the box on day 1, I use it every day, pixel 7a
3rd party apps or access to general App Store, would love to have Waze natively so it can do my charge planning as the built in nav constantly tries sending me through bus only lanes or down dead end streets
Being able to remote start the defrost function. Annoying as hell that I can hear the cabin, heat the seats but to defrost the car I still have to go out and press a button. Although I guess this may be a surf issue.
As I understand it, I can’t tell my charger to charge my Seal to 95%. Instead I’ve got to work out how much I want to add and tell my charger to add X% (which will be different every time). I think I read that was an API sharing issue with my electric company/charger company. I’d love for them to fix that.
AFAIK, the gods eye system (talking of the entry level DiPpilot 100) relies on 3 mounted front cameras plus 12 other sensors around the car. That’s not what global models come with, so I’m pretty sure it would not be a software update. New models may come with it, though.
Oh yeah, I was talking about future models. As for the existing ones, we're screwed 😅
Allowing the sim or esim to work outside china for Chinese models
High resolution HUD with preview like the one in cars from Zeekr
Be able to use Android Auto in portrait mode
An actual “defrost” setting in the app, so it focuses more on defrosting instead of heating the cab
Post-sale service. Warranty support== You become a second class customer, lucky I found out just before I was about to buy another car with them, but I learnt the hard way how they handle the process when something goes wrong with a wall charger and the solution is to pay for upgrade the firmware.
Waze in the app store. Don't like to use android auto.
Could you not just turn on all the climate controls you want from the mobile app? I believe you can keep it running for up to 30 minutes. It’s a pretty barebones solution but don’t see why it wouldn’t work
Pretty sure there’s a built in app for YouTube music, if not just connect via CarPlay
Yeap, that works too. But why bother when you can just do nothing and keep the car running. Otherwise you'd have to step out and turn off the car, lock it, go in the app, set the temperature, and turn it on from the app. And then you have that time limit. I find it too cumbersome. There's no time limit if you just leave the car on.
Why no dash cams with all the cameras available?
Absolutely. I didn't know what I want. Now I know
Sentry mode
My 2026 byd song plus awd doesn't have memory seats, neither from settings nor with buttons (((
What's the chances of an upgrade kit? Even if we have to purchase it
I'd say very slim. It's a lot of hardware differences, including the processing power and body parts. I'd have more faith on something like Comma AI than an upgrade kit from BYD.
That’s scary. What time of the day was it? Lots of shadows? Was your car dirty? I would have thought that decisions are both based on camera + radar both determining an accident threat. How long did the breaking last? At least it seems uncommon but if they don’t fix this, there will be an accident sooner or later in Australia and it will be all over the news.
Navigation in instrument cluster and HUD for older model (Seal, Atto, Dolphin)
Your wish came true because it's been added to the app recently
Can you tell me what you mean by this? What does it do?
Sure, I can open close and drive the car just using my pixel phone, tap the back of the phone on the driver mirror back side, it unlocks the car, then start as usual, when leaving, tap again to lock. Means you don't have to keep the huuuge key in your pocket.
You would not believe my joy when my app updated this week hahah
Id like the app to be able to defrost the windscreen for the dolphin surf, it only points on the floor and centre and no way to change to windscreen, which is useless living in the northeast and constant frosts and snow
Faster charging speed in my BYD DOLPHIN , and One pedal DRIVE… “sentry mode” , google play store.
sentinel mode, like xpeng or tesla have
Battery Preheating button
One pedal ou regene plus fort et mode sentinelle
