How to add car to BYD app?

Funny_Translator1347 | 2026-01-17 00:00 | 25 views

Hey guys. An imported a BYD Yuan Plus from China to Europe. It’s the Chinese-domestic model. I managed to set up an avcount on Chinese BYD app through the phone number of the car dealer (he sent me the OTP code), however, I am unable to add my car to the app and link it to my account. The problem is the car registration papers are from Europe, not from China. Does this make it impossible for me to have the car shownup on the app?

Bring it to a BYD dealer and ask for their help.

You can't use the app outside the delivery country.

Why not? The app works. I just couldn’t add my car there as it requires proving you’re, which requires uploading papers. So first problem may be they don’t accept foreign car papers. Second problem is to undertake that step, you need to verify it’s you by receiving again a code on your phone number, which I don’t have. Third problem is that phone numbers in China seem to show who the owner of the phone number is, so I guess the problem is that both the Chinese phone number needs to be on your name too. The latter point is just my assumption.

The only thing you can do is to switch from car e sim to a sim card but it requires a lot of work. Im struggling with my car too

Practically impossible. Need to solder a SIM to the eSIM, have someone in China do the master account for you etc. Too much hassle, too risky for no real benefits. For more reading, install Telegram, look for BYDboost and BYDApps & OTA Chat groups. A lot of info there. Use telegram web from the browser so you can translate as the chats are mainly in Ukrainian.

Any byd dealer can add it for you, you have to have them do it.

Problem is my car’s VIN is of China market. European BYD dealers don’t support it. You can’t use the European BYD app. China has a separate BYD app.

In that case I have no idea how to do it. Sorry. Perhaps you can get a hold of someone who speaks Chinese that can call to a byd dealer in China or perhaps you can call them yourself in English? Alternatively perhaps you could put in a sim card of your own via a third party electronic shop that knows stuff like that?

With what logic would it be stolen? Chinese-market exports works like this. Domestic Chinese car dealers have the right to export new cars as used cars, with some 100 km on them. However, support for those is geolocked to mainland China due to server it uses and perhaos certain hardware. This app is available in China’s Apple app store only and is only in Chinese (camera live translation of Google Translate helps). Linking the car requires submitting vehicle owner proof (vehicle registration, passport) and Chinese mobile phone number for receiving an avtivation code. Not by email. Phone only. I talked to BYD China customer service yesterday through the app. Despite being connected to a real human later an, they are very rigid and repetetive woth few custom answers. They said that vehicle ownership proof needs to be uploaded through the app submission process, not the chat. It requires the vehicle registration certificate (first 3 pages), as well as the vehicle registration certificate (likely some vehicle registration card), but due to geo locking even if done, remote use won’t be possible. So not sure will be possible. Those paper must be something specific to China, as where I’m from, there are no two separate documents. So not sure if they will accept that. Plus, submission requires that SMS activation code. I used my China dealer’s phone number and he sent me the code when I signed up, but first efforts didnt work and he probably seems bothered and isnt responding anymore to me. Hence this thread here to ask for ideas. I tried Hong Kong BYD app, but no lock. Apparently BYD China would have to transfer your VIN to another country, but it seems difficult to achieve. ChatGPT doesn’t give much hope either.

That’s a pretty out-of-place, assumption. You cannot export a stolen car. Especially in China. It goes through customs clearance. BYD admitted themselves as well as same is confirmed by ChatGPT. The app usage is limited for outside of China cars produced in China for China. Anyways…
