Dealership "dynamic" pricing

Had my eye on a demo BYD today. Rang the dealer to check if a trade-in +€10k was going to get me a deal. Car was advertised on the dealership website as €52k. Once the dealer valued my trade (serious low ball offer), he said that car cost is actually €55k on account of the "required servicing packages" and "other" grant costs. Is that even legal? What's going on, lads?

Did you get anything in writing? I don't think it's a bait and switch but unless you have a direct reference to what was advertised and what was offered. Also use of "from" X rather than just X.

MDL who import BYD are well known for adding their 2k “delivery charge” onto the price. Robbers.

Nothing in writing all figures discussed on call, I wouldn't be one to get legal unless I was actually put out. it just seems quite brazen whacking a few grand like it's no biggie...

I thought that was normal enough. Most new cars ive looked at are 1-2k over the "RRP" because of dealer/delivery charges.

Call into them out and ask for a full breakdown.If it's not on their website aak them why. Ultimately you are doing the sales dance and can walk away at any time, he might be seeing now much he can get away with and so it's your turn. I know some people hate doing it but at the end of the day they will have targets and can always be stretched on deals. If they know you are serious they won't want you waking away. Go back at the end of the month / quarter when the dealership are chasing those final few sales, you can have them on a string if you are that way inclined
