Shoffr what is this behaviour?

Fuzzy-Reindeer-8338 | 2026-03-18 05:25 | 67 views

While booking a Shoffr ride to the airport I noticed this: Initial booking(Without Toll) https://preview.redd.it/mfam06jynqpg1.png?width=1287&format=png&auto=webp&s=366453b7a5a79685c451aee0195bfd79da054e55 As soon as I add Airport Toll of Rs. 130 the total increases by Rs. 680 https://preview.redd.it/ncfcg1i8oqpg1.png?width=1287&format=png&auto=webp&s=fc8dc37808c596c850aea30808fbc47f4732c096 How does the base price increase when just adding toll? wont it be better to just pay the driver 130 rather than adding it here.

I thought shoffr wouldn't do such things, but this is just like any other cab service

joshwalter08 2026-03-18 05:36

Bruh what the fuck

ChepaukPitch 2026-03-18 05:38

Why would you think any company wouldn’t do any shady stuff? By this time we know that every company will try to take every single rupee you have if they can.

Celebrimbor007 2026-03-18 05:51

Maybe it's because the distance when using the toll road is longer than when using the non-toll road ?

Solid_Scientist5509 2026-03-18 05:52

Toll route is longer by 23kms

anishkalankan 2026-03-18 05:57

This is the reason. Non toll roads are shorter in distance but may take more time during office hours. There is also the toll. From Whitefield to airport, strr route is the fastest anytime, but it adds 20kms. The budigere road is the shortest distance, and without toll, but time is unpredictable.

Fuzzy-Reindeer-8338 2026-03-18 05:57

as far as i know for my route the toll road is shorter as well as faster.

Fuzzy-Reindeer-8338 2026-03-18 05:59

the route I have selected the toll road is a total of 55km end to end and the non-toll road is around 60km

I just checked this. Same details and fare calculation was ok for me. 2150 bypassing toll and 2280 through toll. I think it might be a bug rather than something malicious. https://preview.redd.it/yinyifr2wqpg1.jpeg?width=1272&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3b11d0872d8828da52f3a0bafc0284cca59cc4a0

At 4.50 am the quickest and shortest way is the one with the toll. Could be a bug. Last I used I did not see such a thing. Speak to them via whatsapp or a call and they can sort things. Last time when I was trying to book and it kept failing and I got in touch with them and they sorted the booking from their end.

Try Uber XL or Black. To T1 is 200 less. T2 is 200 more. 🤣

ultabenjamin 2026-03-18 06:11

Are you sure it is not via nice road? Looks like Nice + airport toll + additional distance

Fuzzy-Reindeer-8338 2026-03-18 06:25

oh, could be.

Fuzzy-Reindeer-8338 2026-03-18 06:25

oh okay.

Fuzzy-Reindeer-8338 2026-03-18 06:26

damn, those extra meters do sure cost a lot xD

Fuzzy-Reindeer-8338 2026-03-18 06:27

for my routes NICE road is addtional 30kms and no matter what its never the best route from my area. that too its 4:50am in the morning, the regular route is more and sufficient.

Shoffr service has gotten really bad since they started to scale up. There have been significant delays in the last 4/5 pick ups. The cars which once looked fantastic also look a little worn down. Customer care is also pretty awful.

Could also be os based. Op are you using an iPhone by any chance?

Screenshot seems to be the desktop web layout.

Rebook. May overide glitch in software. The change in total fare because of toll can't be so big. IMO

Because I have spoken to the CTO/co founder through chat. And it seemed he was trying to do something different to the public

ChepaukPitch 2026-03-19 09:13

All CTO/Co founders are smooth talkers and claim to be doing good. But a vast majority of them are just trying to get rich quick. And once VC funding is available even the ones who are trying to do good are helpless. And second people have this blind spot about anyone who they have talked to in person and they think that just because the person was nice to talk to they would actually be honest. One of the examples of this is that while your every interaction with government is frustrating and will involve paying bribe you will rarely meet a dishonest government officials or children of dishonest officials. This is just something I have noticed over a period of time.

Yes used them for a few days as my brother recommended but the byd electric cars were not so clean and are starting to get slightly run down. Driver behaviour was good.
