Self driving / robotaxi coming to Polestar?

https://www.techbuzz.ai/articles/nvidia-lands-byd-geely-for-robotaxi-platform-push I would really love to see PS be a leader in adopting self driving technology. Excited to see how this partnership with Nvidia develops!

They were supposed to be leaders of self driving with mobile eye. Feel free to see the self driving results in the P4

meanwhile my P2 ping pongs trying to lane centre and tries to take every exit at the soonest opportunity. Weren't they supposed to be bringing auto park to the p4? how is that going?

SimplyMindingMySelf 2026-03-17 11:46

My P2 was ping ponging me this morning, traffic opened up, we hit 70Kph and it swerved suddenly to the right, so I turned it off again. Radar Cruise works perfectly (better than any other car I've been in) but the pilot assist is donkey balls.

I’ve been hopeful we might at least see NVIDIA’s level 2+ system (the one they are debuting with the Mercedes CLA electric) come to the P3 since it runs on the AGX Orin chip. Time will tell I suppose!

The CLA Nvidia L2+ runs on just a single AGX Orin ? Would be impressive but I highly doubt that. Even XPeng has multiple Turin chips for their self driving. And this chip is 3 times more powerful than the orin.

According to [this article about it from the Verge](https://www.theverge.com/news/852880/nvidia-autonomous-driving-demo-tesla-fsd) the level 2 systems including level 2++ will use the Orin chip but level 4 will use their higher end Thor chip. Remains to be seen just how good it will be when widely rolled out but the demos so far have been impressive.

Thanks for the article I had in mind that it uses dual orin chips. Indeed remains to be seen. The mercedes demo looked promising. I would be surprised if it comes to existing P3 seeing how they struggle to fix such small software issues...

Yeah I doubt we’ll see much at least for a few years. Maybe once the platform is more stable.

Sorry for being so cynical, but looking at the quality of the software, would you really use such a robocar?

Maybe this is splitting hairs but I would love if the backup camera worked right before they get started on this.
