Sealion 6 PHEV ADVICE

SunsetCoffeeCart | 2026-01-13 15:56 | 30 views

Hi, i am a new owner of Sealion 6. I drive 55kms daily commute to work. About 22kms each way. It takes me about 3km to get on the freeway (100km/hour) with a few traffic lights where i have to drop to 70km/hour. And another 4km after I get off the freeway. Should I set it to SAVE ON, 50% SOC, then EV for the non freeway 3/4kms and then switch to HEV while im cruising at 100km/hour? I can charge daily at home.

I drive a Seal 05 DM-i PHEV (King or Destroyer 05) with \~100km EV range. I wouldn't bother to use HEV mode most of days if you have the EV range for your 55km round trip. HEV mode is needed if you will drive past 140km/h. If you're thinking of using fuel or the ICE regularly, maybe you could not charge up one day of the week and make your round trip with HEV mode. I'm used to drive to a nearby town regularly (65km each leg) and I usually go full EV, drive inside town a little (5-10km tops) and start the journey back also on EV and let the car switch to HEV when battery hits <25% SOC and usually drive the last 45-50km on HEV mode. 130-140km round trip that I usually spend 2-2.5 L of petrol.
