ABRP vs BYD maps

I know this question has been asked but I’m pausing at signing up for a subscription app (once off I’m ok with) to get route planning. Since I’m getting my Atto3 next week, do we think the built in maps are “good enough”? Or do we think BYD updates might use the car play APIs to integrate SoC with Apple Maps?

They are good enough in the BYD. I like that you don't need to faff around, it is just there in the infotainment system, so good.

Cheers, that’s what I was hoping for.

I gave up on the built-in maps because the route finding was way off compared to Google Maps. I sometimes have to drive through semi-industrial areas and it frequently tries to route me through private roads and factory carparks.  I'd probably trust it for longer roadtrips between towns where there's only one route anyway. I actually quite like the UI. It's just no good in my home neighbourhood.  YMMV.  I don't pay for ABRP, just use the free version for scenario analysis then put the charge stops into G Maps. BTW you'll get 2 or 3 years (forget which) for free and then it becomes $10 a month for BYD data plan. You can hotspot your phone for route planning but I hear charger planning and live traffic are disabled unless you cough up.

wait, you can't use Apple Maps on your iPhone on the built in display when you connect your phone?

you absolutely can, Apple Car play and Android Auto both work. I use Waze in my sealion 7 through android auto, its perfect for everything i need

You can but you need a subscription to use ABRP in CarPlay. So I can use native portable maps for free but neither will help with the route planning around public charges.

Phew! Thanks! I have test drive planned tomorrow!

The range estimate on the BYD maps seems pretty accurate, within 2% on arrival charge. ABRP gives more ability to customize it and seems more conservative (usually arrive with more charge than it predicts). The fact the map predicts the range well, makes the overoptimistic dashboard range remaining even more annoying.

So wait, does that include the vehicle charge status and auto trip planning based on vehicles SoC for charging stations? Or is just, maps route as usual?
