CarPlay slow to connect wirelessly

Dreamerlax | 2026-03-17 03:30 | 9 views

I recently purchased an iPhone 17. I also have a Galaxy S24 that usually connects instantly to Android Auto. However the same can't be said for the iPhone. Sometimes it connects as soon as the car turns on but sometimes I have to like force it to connect by tapping the CarPlay icon. But most of the time, it'll take its sweet time to connect. Sometimes it fails too. I've tried rebooting the phone, the infotainment system, unpair/repair, the works. But once it connects it's fine. It's just the initial connection. The car is a 2025 BYD Atto 3. No firmware updates when I checked. The phone is running iOS 26.3.1.

If you have 2 phones registered under carplay/android auto, it’ll try to connect the first registered phone first. I suggest you to delete the Galaxy S24/Android Auto profile and just leave the iPhone/CarPlay and see whether it helps.

Already did! It's still inconsistent on my iPhone.

I've never had it fail to connect, but agreed, it is slow, and sometimes won't connect unless manually activated!

This is largely my experience too. I think it’s because the OS BYD is using is Android based so Android Auto works a bit better?

I have the same issue but sporadically. It appeared after updating to 2.1.0 - iphone sometimes just cannot connect and I have to go to BYD settings and disable/enable hotspot.

I’ve been tapping the CarPlay icon on the main menu, open up the WiFi settings on my phone and connect immediately to the BYD network once it appears. Not as graceful as my Android phone lol which just…works ironically enough.
