When you didn't charge it for a few weeks, what % was it on?

killer_B122 2026-01-09 22:55

It was on 15-20% for like a week then we made it 80 for another then kept it on 45 till we started charging it again

killer_B122 2026-01-09 22:56

Now we left it on the ai thing and it keeps it at 15-20

BetterDrinkMy0wnPiss 2026-01-09 22:58

Have you tried charging it?

killer_B122 2026-01-09 23:01

Yes

wyx167 2026-01-09 23:03

The what thing

BetterDrinkMy0wnPiss 2026-01-09 23:04

The I'm not sure I see the problem. Charging it up will show that the battery isn't dead.

killer_B122 2026-01-09 23:05

Ai contolled engine starter thing that uses GPS to maximise range it can go

Complete-Blueberry82 2026-01-09 23:13

Hey i have same car , leave it on energy saving mode 70% not the Ai, it charges while driving up to 70% then i switch to EV i drive on EV until gets to 20-30% then switch to HEV again and charges to 70, i very rarely charge it home , and i get 4 liters per 100 km fuel consumption

rogueqd 2026-01-09 23:23

I don't know much about hybrids, but 15-20% for a few weeks won't hurt the battery.

killer_B122 2026-01-09 23:31

We leave it on hev all the time we get 4.6l/100km

Complete-Blueberry82 2026-01-09 23:33

The Ai thing is not working properly here i think its made for inside china, because it drains battery below 20% which is not good for the battery health

killer_B122 2026-01-09 23:46

It is made for China but I think they made it go below 20% because thats how the soc works when you charge it till 80% doesnt it go between 65 and 70? I think this is intentional because they expect you to charge it or because the engine starts 5 % below the soc its set to

killer_B122 2026-01-09 23:48

I know it isnt dead what I want to know is how I can make my dad understand that the range reduces with lower temperature

killer_B122 2026-01-09 23:50

You might not know about it because I think its made for China only

In winter in the UK, like this year at -5 degrees, the range of my BYD has gone from 220 miles to around 100 miles. When temperatures were around 5-10 degrees, the range would be roughly 160 miles. In summer, it's 200++ miles. It takes a lot of energy to warm up the battery in the winter.

killer_B122 2026-01-10 08:33

I doubt its the same this is a chinese only going global this year its the byd seal 5 dmi

OptimusTron222 2026-01-10 10:40

You got an electric car in Iraq!?

zzay 2026-01-10 10:50

I have no idea what you're talking about. Can you show us a picture how the system is?

zzay 2026-01-10 10:58

You you are getting over all 4 liters per 100 km But when you're charging you're actually making 8 to 10 liters per 100 kilometer It's cheaper to charge at home

killer_B122 2026-01-10 12:49

Phev

OptimusTron222 2026-01-10 16:02

Do you drive in traffic there, if not that is a very very bad purchase!

killer_B122 2026-01-10 16:19

We usually do short trips and sometimes highway but we dont do much traffic but the car is amazing for the price even if its a bad purchase economicly even then its still saves more fuel then other cars we get around 4-4.6l/100km also 13000$ for the specs and all that jazz is amazing

[deleted] 2026-01-10 16:19

killer_B122 2026-01-10 16:21

Yeah youre right

OptimusTron222 2026-01-10 20:47

That makes sense, that price is hard to beat and if you mainly drive short trips the hybrid still makes a difference

killer_B122 2026-01-10 21:00

A few problems would be android auto and apple carplay since this is a chinese speced byd its locked to Huawei play services and you can only make it chinese and English voice assistant is only in mandren and you cant download apps that rely on Google play services but there are alternative apps that work on hps and you cannot control it by the app since it doesnt come with a sim but you could connect it to the home WiFi and you need the chinese byd app(hard to get but i have it) and you need a chinese sim card to use it . But even with all these downside (which i dont mind)I still love the car

HarmPoIsMe 2026-01-11 17:40

Do you have the LFP blade battery? And what about warming the car when connected to the grid. Does it then use the power from the grid or the battery? Picking up my BYD Tang L tomorrow.

seijihg 2026-01-11 18:44

Sorry, I'm not technical enough to answer your question. It's an Atto 3 2024 version in the UK. I don't plug my car in very often, so I don't know what it uses when warming the car beforehand when plugged in.

CaptFlynn 2026-01-13 12:42

That’s bad for an Atto3 Are you sure you don’t have a dead 12v that’s is vampire draining it while not driving? My parents had that issue and would loose 8-10% a day while off and no way to see how range was impacted while driving. I get a seal delivered on Thursday so will get some real world range (also UK) as taking it on a long round trip next week (about 500 miles).

Significant-Run4935 2026-01-13 20:52

I'm planning to get this car , is it reliable ? Do I need to charge regularly to keep the battery health because our house is not compatible with a charging spot , or is the hybrid charging system enough?

killer_B122 2026-01-13 22:50

It is reliable on paper but we dont know realistically i bought it because its reliable on paper because it has way lower moving parts than a normal ice car you dont need to charge it you can set the engine to charge the battery till whatever % you want just dont keep it between 0-20 and 80-100 even without charging its very efficient we get 4.6l/100km keep in mind of you plan on driving fast you'll reach 6l/100km also once you buy it and speed you might reach 10l/100km but it will get less after the 1st fill so yeah hybrid charging is enough and if youre planing on making a charger at home make sure you have grounding because if you dont have grounding and you charge it say goodbye to your converter if it turns off dont jumpstart it from the bonnet that will fry the inverter the 12v battery is right next to the trunk

killer_B122 2026-01-13 22:52

It has 1 speed gear so no chance at the transmission breaking so youre only worry is user error or the engine also it takes 0w-16 92 ron

Ok_Trade_2085 2026-01-14 04:12

This has really hurt my head as it makes no sense

killer_B122 2026-01-14 14:39

Its ok just forget abt it

killer_B122 2026-01-14 14:41

It mostly takes the energy from the grid to heat up and if its not enough its gonna take more from the battery
