Privacy concern: How do you protect your personal data (Gmail, Telegram) when leaving the car for service?

Hey everyone, Got a bit of a "digital security" question. Since our cars are basically giant Android tablets on wheels, I’m starting to worry about personal data privacy. When I leave my Tang L at a service station (STO) or a car wash, the staff has full access to the infotainment system. That means they potentially have access to my logged-in Gmail, Telegram, and phone history via the media system. I know I can log out every time, but that's a pain. Creating burner accounts isn't very convenient either. Does anyone have a "workaround" or a compromise? Maybe a way to: \- Set a passcode for specific apps (like on a regular phone)? \- Use a "Valet Mode" that actually locks the screen behind a PIN? \- Any specific DiLink settings I might have missed? I’m curious how you guys handle this, or if I'm just being overly paranoid here. Cheers!

Valet mode would be awesome. The system already has pin to start option, maybe they can work it into that.

CarPlay?

I see your CarPlay and bring out Android Auto

I think the only thing logged in is my Spotify. They can go nuts in that. I use Android Auto and without my phone there, they have nothing else.

dont install those apps and its not a problem.

It's a bit of an overstatement to call it a full android tablet. No google services, so if you're logged into Gmail, I assume that's in the browser, and so you can logout and clear cookies & passwords. If you sideload (and I do), that's kind of your problem (not a system design failure). AA & Carplay solves most of the concern as others have noted. That said, there are some vulnerabilities - if your car knows your home wifi, then techs can know both your address and your wifi.

I don't sideload anymore, problem solved.

"That said, there are some vulnerabilities - if your car knows your home wifi, then techs can know both your address and your wifi." That is another reason why you should have IOT devices connected to a dedicated network with only access to the internet. Good job bringing this up.

I sideload on my “carlinkit” and my sideloaded apps on my car are apps they can use if they want to. Only app on my car itself is WhatsApp and OneDrive and both are pinlocked by themselves. Also the WhatsApp on my car isn’t my main contact - as I use that number for live gps tracking
