Will BYD get Tesla-like FSD in EU when regulations allow?

vahmer | 2026-01-02 22:41 | 23 views

Question in the title, nothing is written in stone yet, but Tesla is likely leading the breakthrough of Full Self Driving (supervised or not) in EU. I have my eye on Sealion 7, but its lacking the God's Eye sensors on the roof. Is BYD equipping the currently sold cars with appropriate sensors when God's Eye, FSD etc will be enabled in EU?

I don't think anyone can answer this with 100% assurance. But ICC is getting way better, after last update it works very well in my opinion. Generally great car, I'm owner for over 6 months and I'm very happy with this decision!

If the EU is the same as AUS, no they wonn't be retrofitting. They don't come with the cameras/sensors because they haven't had them certified. Newer models will get certified in time. For instance, the Yangwang U7 GT will be the first certified in Australia, all other models so far haven't come with cameras.

Short answer, no. BYD cars for export do not have Gods Eye camera system. There has been no indication so far when this system will be available outside China.

As many mentioned here and other similar topics, all exist cars not have and can't have this feature even if byd get the needed permissions. Byd removed this sensors and camera to be able to reduce prices in europe.

zero chance of a retrofit. it might come on new models in future.

They first have to make the lane keeping system better. And the distance control from the car in front. I have had to take over several times.

Curious, how do we know it's due to price reduction? They're offering version A on $10k cars in China with no price increase, one would assume costs are low enough not to bother too much.

KeyAd8166 2026-01-04 00:30

Not just the cameras! Also radars, LiDARs, high power processors, body shape adjustments.

Denza just landed in Australia and unfortunately they don't have God's Eye (presumable Version C) as well.

KeyAd8166 2026-01-04 00:34

Me too, owning my SL7 for 6 months, not perfect but very happy with my purchase. God's Eye is in completely different league but I agree for good portion of highway driving good ICC does the trick.

KeyAd8166 2026-01-04 00:35

Interesting, where did you hear U7 will have God's Eye for Australian market? That gives nice indication of their strategy for AU market.

SexyDraenei 2026-01-04 02:41

> Denza Hope their cars are better than their website.

KeyAd8166 2026-01-04 03:08

Yeah. They're like a baby now. I received missed call from their dealership last week. Website looks like super-rushed, dealerships are still doing renovations, and communications have been poor.

Seal u in europe without eagle eye the design veraion they sale it around 50K euro, while same car but fully loaded with eagle eye and FSD sale around 30K. Ut because of the government's discound in chine, thats why some ppl prefere to import chine edition but problem there that maps and fsd will not work additional to remote control. In europe there a huge vat for chine cars thats why they removed this sensors and cams to be attractive in forgine markets, specially that in europe nonlicense for FSD given even to tesla.

Sorry I couldn't understand where the hardware removal motive is identified. How do we know if God's Eye hardware removal is due to cost savings?

bishayk 2026-01-04 10:27

I have nonoffical announcement about that.

From a guy that works for BYD at the experience day 😉

KeyAd8166 2026-01-05 00:41

That's a good sign. Assuming they bring U7 within 12 months, that means we can expect BYD/Denza 2027 or max 2028 versions to have God's Eye. I hope BYD/Denza don't hike up prices for God's Eye.

🤞

I really feel ICC got worse after the last update to be honest. I rarely had issues before, it was quite reliable and it was easy to tell if it's engaged or not due to the wheel stiffness. Now I'm not entirely sure when it takes over and it frequently veers to the edge of my lane. If I attempt to ever so slightly correct it back to the center, it just starts drifting towards the other side of the lane. Sometimes it works great, but more often than not I'm having issues. Also increasing the speed limit it is allowed to be active is a huge risk. It could barely hold on at 120km/h on curves, and when it let's go, it just sends you straight full speed to the barriers. 110km/h was golden though, never had issues until the last update no matter the curve.
