Car stops charging when unlocking

lecheckos | 2025-12-31 06:59 | 24 views

When I’m on a public charger and I unlock the car (Dolphin), the charge stops immediately, and I need to badge on the charger to start charging again. This does not happen on my home charger. And I believe this was not happening until a few weeks ago (maybe the v2 update did this ?). Does anyone else experience this? Is there a way to change this behavior? It’s quite annoying because sometimes we need to pick up something in the car while charging and it stops the charge entirely.

It should resume charging when you lock it. It’s quite logical to stop charging when it unlocks because the car thinks you want to get in and drive.

Isn't that how it's supposed to work? Why would you want to screw around with the screen settings every time you want to stop charging? Just unlock and unplug.

It does not resume on the public charger though. Once the charge stops I have to manually badge again and restart the charge from the screen.

I’m not sure. On a public charger I usually have to use my badge to stop the charge (unless it has reached 100%). I’ve never had to use the screen inside the car to unplug. My point is that if I forget something I should be able to access the vehicle without stopping the charge. I’m pretty sure that’s how it used to work.

I think that’s on the provider. I can unlock and lock as we don’t have a home charger and my atto3 resumes on both type of public chargers we got. It does “stop” so I can unplug from the car end. If I try to do it on the charger end it’s “stuck” because my session is still going. Maybe check with your charge plan if their way of doing the transaction is different if this happens on all public chargers. If it’s just this type of charger brand then it’s probably nothing you can do.

Try enabling charging port immobilizer? I think it will require 2 unlock presses on the keyfob to stop the charging

I have this happen on Tesla wall AC chargers at my work, but not on my Local DC fast charger or the supplied granny charger, so it must be charger specific in some way?

Mine stops for 30 seconds and then resumes. This is because it unlocks the plug so you can remove it. But if do not touch it it will resume automatically. Neve had any issues on personal or public chargers so it some settings from the specific public charger you use.
