Why won’t CarPlay work in portrait mode. CarPlay does indeed support portrait screens (albeit most likely requiring a disconnect first, ie no “on the fly” resolution changes) But it is a thing. In both Carplay and Android Auto the screen resolution is hard coded. BYD is the only car company that had both portrait and landscape modes and neither Apple nor Google were willing to do variable resolution. All cars that use CP or AA have to have their implementation signed off by Apple or Google respectively so any complaints should be sent to them. BYD no longer has rotating screens in their latest cars so this is an issue that will never be fixed.
