Surf Boost Cruise Distance Following Buttons

DebatableReality | 2025-12-27 23:42 | 25 views

I have a BYD Dolphin Surf (Boost) UK and wondered if the icc/acc cruise follow-distance buttons on the bottom-left of the steering wheel actually do anything? It doesn't seem to change anything on any display! I've tried cycling through the instrument panel display and it only shows trip kWh/mile/tyre pressures. Am I missing something?

you press them while ICC is active?

Yeah, then nothing shows on either main display or behind the steering wheel that it changes anything! The buttons "press" so they're not physically disabled, but I can't see that it responds anywhere. Is it just an invisible change?

In my BYD Seal, if I press one of these buttons a small window appears in the bottom right driver's display where it shows a car with some arrow lines and the number changes from 1 <--> 2 <--> 3 depending on the distance setting.

Thanks, but I can't get that road display with distance markers to show in my car! For reference this is all I can see as I cycle through the instrument display. I know it's in park, but the options doesn't change when driving: https://photos.app.goo.gl/ZXafSuM33E8E4rYNA

Somebody has asked you if you have tried do it while driving + ICC/ACC on (cruise control)? And it's still about those 2 buttons, right? https://preview.redd.it/go6l509qj5ag1.png?width=1273&format=png&auto=webp&s=030d3aef36aac960cadbf7d526fcc38fd416da0a

Yeah those are the ones I'm talking about 👍🏻 And I've tried pressing them whilst driving / not driving / ICC active / ACC active / inactive & everything in between! The ICC does work because the car slows / stops / accelerates depending on the car in front, I just can't seem to control the follow distance using those buttons.

Official response from BYD support says the UK Boost variant doesn't update any display for following distance adjustments: "We have been forwarded your petition for clarification on ICC / ACC Follow Distance Display in your BYD Dolphin Surf. Thank you for your email and for providing the video. We can confirm that your vehicle is operating normally for the BYD Dolphin Surf (Boost) UK specification. Although the steering wheel includes ICC/ACC follow-distance buttons, the current UK Boost software does not provide a visible following-distance indicator in the instrument cluster or centre display. As a result, operating these buttons does not produce any on-screen feedback. This does not indicate a fault, and all available cruise control and driver assistance functions continue to operate as designed. We appreciate your feedback regarding the visibility of this feature. If you would like us to formally log this as a product suggestion for consideration in future software updates, please provide your vehicle VIN number. Once received, we will create a ticket with BYD so this request can be reviewed by the relevant engineering and product teams. Please note that while all customer feedback is carefully reviewed, the submission of a suggestion does not guarantee that a change will be implemented. Should you have any further questions or require assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you for trusting BYD, we wish you happy holidays and a good start for your year."
