Using China market in Europe?

Funny_Translator1347 | 2025-12-25 15:48 | 32 views

I have the Chinese market 2025 BYD Atto 3 (Yuan Plus), which is the Facelift version of Atto 3. I imported it to Albania, where I successfully register it upon the type approval / homologation process. Reason I bought the Chinese market car: much cheaper. 17K EUR for ATTO3 brand new. Alabmia ha abolished VAT and customs for electric cars. for Comparison, starting price in Austria is 41K EUR. I am interested to make it as close to the European model as possible, for which I would like to ask for your guidance! What I did so far: — “Jailbreaked” it with an USB allows to install unofficial APK app stores and dowload and install most APK (except Google ones). This allowed me to install Firefox, Spotify, Facebook, VLC Media Player, Radio apps, Messenger, Whatsapp/Viber, Waze Maps, GBoard, Gbox, Autolinkit (app that allows Carplay dongle to work) etc. What is still lacking and differences noted to European version: — Charging outside home requires GB/T Plugs (or adapter). Fast charging adapters are €500+. — Cannot use BYD app. Upon installing the Chinese app from China App Store, it requires a Chinese number to login. I managed to use a friend’s China number, but cannot “register” my car to link it with my account. — Lack of BYD app linking possibility makes it impossible to connect to car remotely yo see location or turn it on or use BYD virtual key. — No NOA ADAS self-deiving capability due to lack of BYD app linkage and being outside of China — No eSIM / 5G linkage capability as it probably is linked to China system — No native CarPlay — No Google Apps even after jailbreak (YouTube, Chrome, Google Maps) — No notifications sent to phone due to lack of internet connectivity and lack of BYD app linking — Voice Assistant only in Chinese language — Voice Feedback in English with Chinese accent — Car VIN in limbo. Neither in European servers, nor in Vhinese servers due to lack of possibility to easily create account and link to car. Any ideas how to solve some of the above? ChatGPT suggests some “flashing” process, but it seems risky and complex. I can live wothout these, but would love to resolve some. Looking forwrd to hear your thoughts, comments suggestion.

- You can use byd app if your car registered under your user name with a Chinese number. - NOA is geo locked to china if im not mistaken - eSim can be modified to physical sim by soldering the module or and some managed to install Chinese sim with roaming. - voice assistant works in English in some models - voice feedback is not an issue

> Comparison, starting price in Austria is 41K EUR. for other people interested in the Atto 3 and in Austria/Germany region: Current starting price for the Atto 3 comfort is 35.100€ and for the design 37.100€ in the BYD catalog for austria. But real prices are like 27.000€ for the comfort and 28.000€ for the design at the dealerships.

I registered a new username with the phone number of the Chinese dealwrship I got it from. But to link it to my car’s VIN, it asked for papers. I tried submitting the papers of my local car registration, but to no avail. But will try again. Thanks for your comments. The eSIM switch seems promising. Hope I find someone who does that.

Real prices for new or used cars in Austria dealerships are 27K? Not bad. And yeah, in Austria you get €5.890 BYD E-Mobilitätsbonus.

I have the same car yuan plus chinese 2025 version. I managed to ha e google maps but doesn't allow to loggin. The apk is quite old version and is not so user friendly. At least you get traffic updates better than waze. Waze let you use the media option within the app so it is better to use but traffic updates are far worse than google maps due to less user feeding in. I've tried hard for android auto but no success so far.

For Google Maps, you may need to install Gbox first. Then install Google Maps there (as a virtual environment). Then perhaps shortcut of Google maps to home screen, but my car doesn’t allow it. Need to find a way to change permissions. Google apps won’t work on the Chinese software as the China market models don’t seem to jave Google certification. Meaning no YouTube, Google Maps, Chrome, Gmail etc. Unless through the Gbox virtual environment. I dont like Waze either, but it’s the only thing I have for the moment. :(

I asked the dealer to install google maps and it is installed now with the live feature giving all live traffic police. The only problem as I told before doesn't allow to loggin and interface is a bit cucumbersome and not good when you use in shared screen. My dealer installed youtube watsapp. I installed myself a android macro app that allows autostart programs when switching on my yuan plus.
