What cost am I looking at for this damage?

My car was parked in an automatic multi-level lift car park at the hospital where I work. Today, when I was removing the car from the lift the valet accelerated too quickly and struck an iron plate underneath. I spoke to the service centre and was informed that the protective cover and a plastic holder underneath are damaged. This information was only provided to me on inspection of the photographs as the service centre was closed and I had to leave the car in the lift to avoid any further damage. If anyone could identify the broken components and the estimated cost of their repair in India, I would be grateful. My reasoning is that if the cost is less than the no claims bonus (NCB) I may choose to pay out of pocket or ask the parking operator to pay up. I recently renewed my insurance and made a claim for a tyre last year.

Has the valet or his employer no responsibility? Your best bet will be to contact a dealer in India.

You should not be paying this out of your pocket! If the guy had fully accelerated, hit a wall and totaled your car completely ---> would you also just pay for a new car yourself?

Using a Valet is usually at your own risk. I doubt they will pay anything. Please use your insurance!

The car has been dropped off at the local dealership. They’re telling me it’s going to take 10 days. On further questions about where the part was coming from - they said th factory/warehouse which is 15 kms away. I’m astounded as to why it’ll take 10’days to come down 15 kms.

Update: after a bit of complaining for the repair times, the dealership has apparently managed to fix the car already. Estimated cost: 12000 Indian rupees / 130 euros/dollars.
