Damage to the main screen border due to sun exposure

zaconou | 2025-12-19 21:06 | 51 views

So, I live in Brazil, where the climate is hot most of the year. I bought this BYD Dolphin about 4 months ago and I’m already noticing some damage on the screen border. My apartment’s garage doesn’t have a roof, so the car is constantly exposed to sun and rain. Has anyone experienced something similar? What would you recommend to fix these small damages and prevent further ones?

That’s really weird. I haven’t had this issue with my car. You should take the car in for warranty, as I don’t think this is normal “wear and tear”, especially if the car is only four months old. And if you’re paranoid, maybe get a case for your tablet. I saw one on AliExpress, and maybe get a sun blocker for your car you know, those huge tin foil covers for your windshield to block out the sun’s heat? Either way take it in to your dealer.

I've heard a couple of cases like that for the byd king in Mexico, the steering wheel began literally melting due to sun exposure. They took the car to the dealership and it was replaced for free. You should try using the warranty

This looks like some kind of cleaning product, do you wash your car somewhere?

Never washed it

I'll contact the dealer thanks

I have one but I rarely use it, tablet case may be a good idea I'll check that

If it is a 12" screen I would be thinking of upgrading the screen to 15.6". I upgraded mine and it was well worth it.

Would be nice to install windscreen UV/IR film. In theory could block almost all of the harmful rays. Should be good investment.

Wow, I work at a hospital with uncovered parking and the car often gets very hot inside. In these 3 months of direct sunlight, nothing has happened yet 🙏

Nice. I had no idea you could upgrade it. Was it done at a BYD dealership or was it another shop?

front windscreen sunshade... costs like 10 dollars

zedder1994 2025-12-20 02:24

I did it myself. The 15.6" was $800 aud and after you take the plastic shroud off, the screen is held in place by 2 bolts and a locking mechanism. 1 connector in the middle of the screen. Took me 5 minutes to changeover.

I assume the dolphin has the same platform as the Atto 3? The screens are usually bought from AliExpress
