Aren’t the Canadian Model 3s imported from China? That would make them difficult to ship to the US for sale.

Not sold out. Tesla sales in Canada have been in a free fall for about 18 months. In Quebec for instance, sales are effectively zero. All used and demo inventory has magically disappeared, too

Canadian M3s are made in Freemont. They were made in China up until a couple of years ago when the Canadian government put a 100% tariff on Chinese built vehicles. That will come to an end soon, but even so, imports from China will be restricted to 49,000 units per year across all manufacturers and average MSRP will be restricted, too.

This isn't the first time the inventory search returns no results.
It's always been obvious that the inventory cars on their website have never truly reflected physical inventory, and there is some algorithm behind it. This algorithm, in my opinion, is designed with two functions goals:
1: Drive sales orders of new cars by falsely implying scarcity of immediately available cars.
2: Prevent analysis of things like sales mix, average ownership life, inventory financial valuation, residuals etc.
Speculating somewhat here as the algorithm is not known, I suspect there is a date component to it, as we often see wild swings around the start of the month.

The guy never intended to run a car company long term... He thought he would be on Mars by now... So his antics are becoming increasingly ridiculous as he tries to keep Tesla looking like a legitimate car company... IE... To hide the Cybertruck failure on paper he purchased a bunch of the inventory using Space. Wouldn't be too surprised if he was doing the same with other models as their sales continue to tank as people become less willing to buy vehicles from a guy making a CSAM-friendly AI while he does the "Roman salute" 🤷♂️
Tesla isn't viable without the rebates that he helped to end by helping the current administration be elected.

Model 3s come from the US and are slapped with a 25% tariff. The Model Y currently comes from Germany with zero tariffs. Model 3s are more expensive than the Y because of this. Model 3s will most likely come from China now since we lifted the EV tariff. Germany does not make model 3s at this time. I am in Canada and just bought a new Y in December.

Without a minimum price for FSD it's going to be easy to hit that number.
Without a clear definition of what an optimus robot is, making a lot can be incredibly easy.
The sales target can be reached within 10 years even if sales are down and never reach 22/23 levels ever again.
The stock price is detached from reality so that's possible to reach even for a failing company.
There are some targets that are real, but the tranches are set up so that the easy ones pay out even if the last ones are not met.

2026-03-02 16:38
Yes. I Love Phineas and Ferb. I have good friends who spent most of their lives in Italy. I spent part of my career adjacent to the food industry. Over time got to see how all sorts of things are made. Canadian bacon is still mostly done to the weird North American standard of wet curing rather than dry curing. Wet is way cheaper, faster and more dependent on chemical processes. My Italian friends remain partial to pancetta vs bacon as well as proscuitto vs ham. One of my favorites nowadays is dry cured canadian bacon. Once you see the wet curing process so popular in North America it is hard to get psyched to eat the products. Of course I knew nothing of any of this as a youngster. I just knew that crackling sound of the pea meal was fun!!!

That's just one of twelve tranche of the package.
The tranches are:
* 20 million vehicles delivered... which should be relatively easy given that they've already delivered about 9 million and are delivering 1.6 million per year.
* 10 million active FSD subscriptions. Easy given that Musk can change the terms of FSD at any time. Maybe he gives free access to everyone (or $1 if it needs to be paid) for a week.
* 1 million robotaxis deployed... should be easy since this doesn't seem to be clear what a robotaxi is. Is it a taxi with a driver inside, with a monitor driving behind it, with a remote operator... etc?
* 1 million Optimus robots... should be easy if you have a mass production line.
* The rest are EBITDA targets between $50 billion - $400 billion.

Correct, they don’t have any usable batteries to put in them. The cathode department in Austin is the hub and is so mismanaged that they are now trying to shutter that operation and just import materials from Ronbay and china directly. They closed the Freemont facility and now cannot make batteries in Cathode Austin due to sub-par management and are relying mostly on in-place stocks or refurbished/repurposed batteries.
This is Elon’s swan song as the vehicles no longer interest him nor are they making any money due to poor demand.
