Overly familiar car…

I love how my Seal U is so comfortable with me as an owner it feels like it can sometimes insult me if I don’t press the brake pedal hard enough when switching to Reverse… 😂

Mjne tells me to depress it.. So I tell it how stupid and worthless I think it is😂

Mine's had enough of my shit and tells to just break already.

retard [ri-tahrd, ree-tahrd] / rɪˈtɑrd, ˈri tɑrd / verb (used with object) to make slow; delay the development or progress of (an action, process, etc.); hinder or impede. yeah, its not the best translation, but its not wrong either.

Tough-Diamond3449 2025-12-17 01:20

How can I turn that off? Haha, it always bothers me.

Striking-Piano78 2025-12-17 06:34

🤣

The weird thing is that sometimes it tells me to “retard”, and other times it tells me to “break” (which would also be wrong, as it should be “brake”). However, my car is in Spanish, so it should say “frena” 🤷🏻‍♂️

i just can't understand how a multi billion dollar company gets the English words wrong. such a disgrace.

mikegaribaldi 2025-12-17 08:34

Agree, and that’s what annoys me about Chinese products in general, translations to other languages are generally absolute garbage

juka117 2025-12-17 08:37

Once I offered ELKO EP, free translation of their home automation app because they had sentences like "Are you want exit?". They refused my help. I think that their English is so horrible that they think that our English is bad or something. Such a pity because they excel in other areas really.

If you think Chinese companies' translations are shit, you should see American companies! Or do you only speak English?

mikegaribaldi 2025-12-17 10:55

English, Spanish, French and German, Spanish being my mother tongue. To be fair though, English to Spanish translations (and viceversa) are easy as they share common roots. Chinese is a whole different league… so I get that translations can be tough sometimes

Man, I don't know, maybe Spanish translations are good (Spanish is a very widely spoken language), but Greek is just abysmal everywhere. Most of the time, the words are so long that they disappear in the UI, and they're always only tangentially related to the actual meaning, at best. I always set the language to English, even if there is a Greek translation available.

Mine sometimes tells me to take a break with an annoying cup of coffee symbol literally 10 seconds into a journey, I just figure she is taking the pi%s and shout at her to make sure she realises I am wide awake and ready to drive.

mikegaribaldi 2025-12-17 12:54

LOL my wife’s Volvo does that, it drives me nuts! Staring directly ahead at the road and it suddenly starts freaking out telling me I need to pay attention to the road, so I always yell back at it telling it to shut the f$%k up 😂 thankfully my BYD doesn’t do that!
